WELSH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH in Poultney Welcomes

Benita Mead, Clerk of Session at Welsh Presbyterian Church in
Poultney, recently announced that its Session and congregation
have welcomed The Reverend Lee and Mrs. Nancy Smith to its
congregational family. Pastor Smith, an ordained Nursing Home
Chaplain, whose ministry for many years with the Presbyterian
Church was in the Boston region, is also an historic preservation
representative and retired Executive Director of Peniel Bible Conference, Lake Luzerne, New York. Pastor and Mrs. Smith reside
in New York State in a slate valley community.
Historic Welsh Presbyterian Church, Poultney, a Methodist-Presbyterian Church, is a traditional community whose mission is to
grow in faith and share the love of Christ through evangelism,
discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and worship. It seeks to be
compassionate yet theologically conservative, as liberal as the
love of God and as inclusive as the great invitation of God to
man, Whosoever will, let them come unto me. Reverend Smith
said the vision of Welsh Presbyterian Church includes outreach
to our regions homebound citizens and their caretakers, as well
as to those who are resident at Indian River Nursing Home, The
Orchards and Holbrook Adult Home. Weekly worship services
are held with residents at these residential care facilities. Welsh
Presbyterian Churchs Session and congregation are expanding
biblical programs for all ages. They are also developing plans for
restoration needs of its historic Grove Street structure. A top priority for them is to make this historic chapel, which is on the
National Register of Historic Buildings, a handicap accessible
site. Welsh Presbyterian Churchs worship services are held Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in its Grove Street sanctuary. Its services are spoken in the English language. For more information

Cooperative Extensions 4-H Program is growing and looking
for volunteers to lead youth programming in Warren County to
inspire the next generation. As a volunteer for 4-H, you have the
opportunity to share your personal interests with local youth in
subjects as varied as food and nutrition, natural resources, public
speaking, technology, community service and more. 4-H supports
you in sharing your knowledge and expertise to help a young
person find their own passions and interests; and with opportunities to either lead a club or provide one-time programs, you decide on the level of involvement that best fits your schedule. 4-H
is the largest youth development organization in the United States
empowering over six million young people to learn by doing.
The program is open to any youth ages 5 to 19 years old with
opportunities to learn through clubs, after school and school enrichment programs and through the variety of programs offered

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED- The Saratoga County Office for the

Aging is in immediate NEED of volunteers to help deliver meals
to homebound seniors in the following communities in Saratoga
County: Saratoga, Schuylerville, and Wilton. Substitute drivers
are needed throughout Saratoga County. This program helps many
seniors remain independent in their own homes. Nutritious meals
are prepared, packed and ready for transport. Average delivery
time is about one hour. A training/orientation is provided. Being
a volunteer for this program is a gratifying experience- seniors

Stoddards work as a photographer in the mid-19th century paralleled the development of railroads in the nation, particularly in
the Glens Falls area and the Adirondacks. Numerous rail lines,
which provided access to the region from all directions, served
as gateways for travelers seeking an experience in the regions
interior. This new exhibit features seventeen Stoddard photos
taken from ca. 1870 to 1890. They include the Glens Falls and
North Creek train stations, the trestle over the Sacandaga River,
the D&H cut near Willsboro and the Prospect Mountain cable
RR. On his travels Stoddard photographed trains, too, including
The Battery in New York City and the Green Mountain railway

THE SALEM VOL. FIRE DEPT.S JULY 4 TH PARADE THEME THIS

YEAR WILL BE REDNECK ENGINEERING. The three night
carnival will start at 6pm on July 2 nd & July 3 rd and the
carnival will start as soon as the parade ends on July 4 th.
This years entertainment will be: Saturday July 2 nd-DJWill Linendoll, Sunday July 3 rd the band Welkin, and Monday July 4 th Krystals Lytle DJ Service. Our fireworks display will start at 9pm on July 4 th with a rain date for the
fireworks at 9pm on July 5 th. The parade will kick off at
5pm sharp with the parade line-up starting at 4pm on North
Main St by the Holy Cross Church.
Parade participants need to reply by June 30, 2016. Reply

With the theme we are hoping for some very unique floats
for the parade, so if you belong to a group, organization, or

your luck at one of the many games for kids or adults. Also
try your luck at winning by buying a raffle ticket for one of
the many donated prizes. As usual we are asking for the
communities support in providing baked goods for our cake

VERMONT VETERANS COMMUNITY GARDEN
Bennington, VT: The Vermont Veterans Home is opening a
Veterans Community Garden on the property of the Home. This
initiative is to support members of our Veteran Community in the
Bennington area who have a desire to grow their own wholesome
organic food but do not have the space at home. On a first come
first serve basis Veterans and their families may sign up for a
garden plot to farm free of charge. The Veterans Home will
prepare the soil and establish individual plots within the garden.
The Vermont Veterans Community Garden will open on May 1st

SPECIAL BLOOD DRIVE HELD IN MEMORY OF

PFC NATHAN BROWN IN GLENS FALLS AND
SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES.
Nathan Brown was like a lot of young adults. He enjoyed video games, music, family and
friends, and the outdoors. He had qualities that made him special, including his kindness,
generosity, and his willingness to help others. He had great respect for veterans, and
joined the New York Army National Guard to serve our country. In 2004, Private First
Class Brown was killed during a mission in Iraq when a rocket propelled grenade hit him
in the chest. He was 21 years old. For his courage, valor, and ultimate sacrifice, he
received a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, and a New York State Medal of Valor. A special
blood drive in his memory will be held in his hometown of Glens Falls on Friday, May
20 Noon-6:30 p.m. Glens Falls YMCA 600 Glen St., Glens Falls.
SFC (Ret.) Arthur Coon recruited PFC Brown. They saw each other for the last time
when PFC Brown was being deployed to Iraq. As he was leaving, PFC Brown gave SFC
(Ret.) Coon a backpack as a gift, a gesture that demonstrates PFC Browns generosity and
how he always put others before himself. He was such a good soldierhe was always at
the Armory helping out, said SFC (Ret.) Coon. People may not know that the New York
Army National Guard also does a lot in the community, and Nate always asked if there
was something more that he could do for Glens Falls and other communities nearby.
MAPFRE Insurance and Kinney Agency are once again supporting the blood drive. What
a great way to remember Nate and give back to others, noted Todd Miller, Kinney Agency.
The community honored PFC Browns generous and selfless spirit at the first blood drive
in his memory that was held last year. Support exceeded the goal, with more than double
the units of blood collected than was expected. The Brown Family and the American Red
Cross hope the community will show their support again. All presenting donors will receive
two passes good for a Glens Falls Dragons baseball game. How to donate blood: Simply

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or

students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height
and weight requirements.

It is no secret that market volatility increases in the spring and summer, particularly for the
grains. This year is starting out that way, with the statistical volatility for soybeans as an example
jumping from 13% in February to 25% this

suggest that producers (and other traders) are getting over concerns about the complexities of
options and increasing their use to control the directional exposure. Some speculators are also
attracted to the huge leverageof buying a $500 call option to control an $18,000 corn contract.
As always, there is a significant risk of loss in futures and options trading.
Corn futures retreated 3.8% this week after posting a 4.7% advance the previous week. Planting
progress continues to run ahead of the 5 year average pace, soil moisture is adequate to surplus,
and weekly export sales and corn use for ethanol slowed down. Thats a pretty tough combination for the bulls to overcome. Export commitments YTD are now 90% of the full year forecast
from USDA, still lagging the 5 year average of 93% for this date but definitely closing the gap.
Unshipped sales on the books are 1% larger than last year at this time (13.276 MMT). The
Commitment of Traders report confirmed that spec funds are still net long, but they did trim
their recently required position by a net 8,749 contracts in the reporting week ending May 3.

H. WAYNE TRIMM ART EXHIBIT/OPENING AT THE

GEORGI: The subjects of his paintings are based in nature:
wildlife and flowers. Wayne and his wife, Melodee, are both
wildlife biologists and rehabilitators. In later years, he hosted
Outdoor World of Learning (O.W.L.) programs, and would
bring rescued owls to schools and other places to teach people
about nature and birds. Wayne would demonstrate his always fit
condition by holding his big Great Horned Owl on his left arm
and sketch the birds portrait in pastel, all the while talking with
the audience about Brambles features.
Wayne keeps a small sketchpad with recent drawings. He said
he has always done this and is still painting. His father was a
portrait painter and there were other artists in his family. Over
the years he developed his skills as he went on to become a
scientist. At the New York state Department of Environmental
Conservation, he got to combine all of these interests and skills.
Mr. Trimm will be present at the opening to answer questions
and be available for discussion. Light refreshments will be

We, at The Vermont Veterans Home, are seeking individuals
interested in volunteering with weekly shopping trips (our
transportation), bingo, off campus events, weekly in-house
calendar events and much more. Trained by our superb Activities
Department, you would be considered as a force multiplier.
We have opportunities for weekday volunteers as well as the
weekends.
Additionally, if you have a skill or talent that you would like to
teach or entertain our Veterans with, bring it on! For more

UNCLE WALLY WONDERS

Why did we elect Mr Obama?
Well, the reasons are not because of his socialist (some say
Communist) policies. He hid those in his campaign.
White folks voted for him for two reasons. One group, who
are not racist and simply wanted to put the whole race issue
to bed because they are sick of the social strife, and thought
Obama could bring about that result. Others, who really are
racists but wanted to disguise their feelings of racism, were
the second group.
Black folks voted for him because they believed that he would
bring about better lives for them; perhaps voting in someone
who would give them a helping hand. (Remember the lady
who declared : He will give us Obama phones?)
Well, the belief he would resolve racial strife was dashed when
he got into office and began seeking reparations. He never
did strive to bring the two factions together, but pushed racial
agendas. Unfortunately, his socialist programs were not designed (perhaps in his mind they were) to bring about racial
equality and better lives for blacks. Instead, those policies
brought about worse conditions for all Americans. In that way,
he did bring us all together; we are all worse off than before
he took office.
The better way to end racial strife is to institute policies that
make all American lives better. The term A rising tide lifts
all boats is appropriate in governing our nation.
The possibilities for advancement are greater here than in
any other nation on Earth. But, socialism has the opposite
effect. It brings people down to a lower equality, stifling optimism, and crippling the will to work hard for personal advancement.
As a result, both blacks and whites are reflecting on their
decision to put the first black person in office, without carefully, considering his agenda.
Our actions and his have failed us. I wonder have we learned
our lesson? Will we vote for Hillary just because we want to
see a woman in the White House? Lets not make that same
kind of mistake again.
