Unit 13: Utilisation of Electrical Energy
Unit 13: Utilisation of Electrical Energy
Unit 13: Utilisation of Electrical Energy
2013/14
Course/Unit Title:
The aim of this unit is to develop learners understanding of the underlying technology
involved in the utilisation of electrical energy in some of the more important areas of electrical
engineering. It also contributes to a firm foundation of knowledge for work in engineering
design.
Learners will be asked to use Harvard Referencing when carrying out research for Assignments. This will be introduced early in the unit and revisited if
required.
The dates for the operation of a polyphase induction motor Unit may be altered to co-ordinate with work done elsewhere.
Areas studied are :
-1-
Teaching and Learning Strategies: (with particular reference to how the following will be addressed: differentiation; issues
of equality and diversity; use of ILT (describe how you intend to use it and for what purpose)
5 Underpinning Principles
5 Learner Dispositions
Accelerated Learning
Positive
BH Being Healthy
Active
SS Staying Safe
Thinking
Inquisitive
Persistent
Teaching and Learning throughout the course will be based on interactive strategies as promoted in the Learning Framework.
The 5 underpinning principles of Accelerated Learning, Assessment for Learning, Collaborative Problem Solving, Thinking for Learning and
Effective Use of Technology will be incorporated into the planning of individual sessions during the year so that learners are encouraged to
develop the expert learner dispositions of being Positive, Active, Thinking, Inquisitive and Persistent.
Appropriate integration of ECM & E&D themes will be identified within the Scheme of Work and developed in detail within individual lesson
plans
