Introduction
The time most enjoyed and memorable for every student is the cultural fest of
ones college. RIVIERA is the cultural fest of Vellore Institute of Technology. It is
an annual International Sports and Cultural Festival, and is conducted by VIT to
facilitate and promote healthy competition, companionship and leadership skills.
Riviera 2016 was for four days from 4th February till 7th February with the theme
Unmask the Mask. It is a much looked forward to annual event by students
within and outside VIT. Besides being great fun, it brings out excellent
coordination skills and overall management strategies of VITians. During Riviera
the campus is beautified by sculptures, painting mainly surrounding the theme.
Various events are held during Riviera by different clubs to entertain the students
and engage them in various tasks. There were also fun games that had been
arranged. In Woodstock, food stalls were there to allow the smooth functioning of
the events.
The inauguration was done by Mr. Ravichandran Ashwin, 29 year old tall Indian
off-spinner of Indian cricket team on Thursday morning. Flag hoisting was done
at Kalpana Chawla ground. He gave a speech after which Prize distribution took
place. Aikya- The cultural parade of Riviera was on 5 th February. It was a
combined mixture of all cultures and traditions. The stage where the fervour of
Bhangra met the rhythm of Garba and the skills of Bharatnatyam. The beauty of
diversity present at VIT overflowed the stage. The dazzling state attires of our
country, exotic display of clothes and accessories made the parade one of a
kind. The second day was music concert by electrifying performer Karthik and
the laser show. Parikrama rocked the stage with their compositions on day 3.Frisk
factor also performed on the same day. Bombay Bounce-DJ Lloyd shook the
dancefloor making the VITians groove on his tunes. The famous Tamil actor
Siddharth stole away all hearts at the Valedictory Function.
Day1
The stage was ready. The lights were almost up for the most awaited days of all
time. It being Sunidhi Chuhans night. The time had come for everyone here at
VIT.
RIVIERA started off with the burning performance of Sunidhi Chauhan which left
the crowd startled. Sunidhi Chuhan is an Indian playback singer who started her
career debut at the age of 13, with the film Shastra. She is an inspiration to
many upcoming singers. Sunidhis music and fashion sense is appreciated by all.
The night started off with the lighted performance of the ROCKSTARs group. It
was a stellar performance by the girls. They left the crowd in want of more
music, dance and drama. Their pretty costumes stole away all hearts. This was
followed by performance of Piyush Ambhore-The Voice India who started with
retro songs heart of bollywood like gulabi ankhen. He also sang meddles with
Sunidhi Chauhan. He left a soothing impact on the crowd with his sweet voice.
There were also filler events by the students to entertain the crowd.
Then came the one, the most awaited performance by the one and only Sunidhi
Chauhan who sang and mesmerized the crowd at VIT, Vellore. She made her
entry with the rock song dhoom Machale.Who can hold a chance to miss this
concert and the kamli on the stage. The crowd showed a very positive response
with their hands up in the air to welcome her and get buckled up for the show
cause it was just the beginning. Without taking a single minute she sang to her
best. So filled with energy, action, glamour, a girl not easily found. Each song
reflected the love and passion she had for singing. The crowd was seen to be
dancing, enjoying on her beats. She did not leave a single stone untouched. The
stamina and enthusiasm Chauhan showed on the stage was one which no one
will ever forget and never stop to talk about. This is what we call a Performer.
She sang almost all her songs including party, rock, and love songs. Chauhan
sang Be Intehaan, Dance Pe Chance, Kamli, Dilli wali girlfriend, Sheela Ki Jawani,
Beedi. Being in Tamil Nadu how could she have missed out on singing Tollywood
songs like Selfie Pulla, Yele Nee. She even sang her upcoming song
jhalliPatakha.
