For!this!assignment!we!will!combine!LMUs!culture!of!service!and!non@traditional!organizational!research!
methods.!You!will!be!responsible!for!selecting!your!own!non@profit!organization!to!work!with.!!You!may!chose!to!
contact!the!Center$for$Service$and$Action!for!suggestions.!!You!will!learn!about!the!organization!through!
secondary!source!research,!interviews!and!most!importantly,!participant!observation.!Participant!observation!
entails!doing!actual!work!in!the!organization!under!analysis.!The!objective!is!to!get!a!sense!of!what!the!world!of!
the!organization!looks!like!from!the!point!of!view!of!the!people!that!work!in!it.!Find!a!way!to!volunteer!in!your!
chosen!organization!and!learn!about!it.!Everyone$is$expected$to$log$at$least$15$hours$of$onSsite$work$during$

content!and!your!own!experience!in!your!CBL!organization!of!choice.!!You!will!write!one!paper!that!highlights!a!
significant!connection!that!you!can!make!between!the!management!theory!as!discussed!in!class!and!the!
management!literature!and!your!CBL!experience.!!!!

The!process!for!writing!this!paper!will!include:!
a. Working!interactively!with!me!throughout!the!semester!including!a!required!meeting!during!office!
