MONTAGE
Description:

My intention with this project is to tell people that they can be

a little bit better to others. Life is already difficult. I took two
images and blended them together to make one.

Date:

10/23/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 01
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Learn to manage Photoshop layers.

Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks.
Apply appropriate typography.

Process:

In order to begin this project I looked for some sort

of interesting and inspirational message that I could
communicate. The requirements were to be something that
was inspirational or spiritual. I found this quote by Maya
Angelou and I knew what kind of a design I wanted. I looked
for pictures of clouds and some of rainbows. Using photoshop
I used masking in order to insert the rainbow over some
sunbeams coming out of the clouds. I then wanted to repeat
the message of the picture in the quote so I emphesized the
inspirational words in the quote.

LOGOS
Description:

This is a logo that I decided to design for a company my brother

in law will create as his own private practice for Physical
Therapy. It will be a sports injury center for rehabilitation. I
wanted something that looked sporty but also professional.

Date:
11/1/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 01
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image.

Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

Process:

I used Adobe Illustrator in order to create the entire image. I

used the eclipse tool in order to make a series of circles and I
extended and messed with some handles in order to make the
arm seem more natural. Then I reflexed the image and added
another modified circle in order to make a head. The white
space implies a sort of tank top or other work out shirt which
appeals to sporting men.

LETTERHEAD

personally created logo.

Date:

Course/Instructor:

Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign

Objectives:

Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.

Design layouts for a business card and letterhead.
Use the basic tools of Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:

I had a bit of trouble trying to figure out what I would be doing

for this project. I decided that I wanted to promote myself
with a simple design. I wanted to use things that were near and
dear to me, hence the fact that it looks military. I went into
Illustrator in order to design my logo again and used some
existing images in order to recreate them in Illustrator using
primarily the pen tool. I then put the logo into InDesign and
worked out the rest of the design using a military color scheme
and style. I had to find two new fonts on 1001freefonts.com in
order to create better repetition and gestalt.

I went into Illustrator in order to design my logo again and

used some existing images in order to recreate them in
Illustrator using primarily the pen tool. In order to match my
letterhead I worked to add a consistent design to both of these
projects. In oder to add repetition in the entire design I used
morse code to enhance the militaristic design. The Morse code
inside the captains head says Roger That

BROCHURE
Description:

A two sided folding brochure. This is a brochure that I have

created in order to advertise the Barnes and Noble bookseller.

Date:
12/6/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 01
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign

Objectives:

Create a folding brochure.

Design a new logo for this new project.
Demonstrate ability to design a printable brochure that can be
folded correctly.
Measuring on InDesign.

Process:

To begin I decided what I wanted to communicate and how. I

then took a number of blank pages for sketching and folding
in order to decide the measurements and folds. I then used
primarily InDesign in order to create this project. I also pulled
many images and textures from the internet using Google
images. I found a new text online that would match my
message and look like the inside of an older book. The new
logo is much like the original logo of Barnes and Noble being
just words. I liked the way the curls on the S and the R came
together.

and logos would be placed and aligned and how the text would
look.

Program(s)/Tools:

Microsoft Word
Epson Scanner
PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter)

Objectives:

Find, scan and import a high-quality image.

Create a full-bleed design
Use text boxes for layout in Word.
Insert and edit images in Word.

Process:

I looked through some magazines from National Geographic in

order to find some kind of image I could use and scan in order
to create an add for some sort of fundraising event. Once I had
scanned in the image I only used Microsoft Word Processor in
order to formulate this project. It was a bit frustrating trying
to create the image I wanted when I had already become
accustomed to InDesign.

Desaturate the selected portion of the image.
Use a filter or colorize a portion of the image.

Process:

I rented a Canon PowerShot camera to capture the image I

wanted. In order to edit this image I used Photoshop in order to
edit the original photo I had taken. I then proceeded to insert
other elements into the photoshop design in order to convey
my message. I used a number of rectangle boxes and a number
of text boxes in order to design the finished product. These
extra parts of the image are to illustrate my understanding of
