hit track, Broken Wings, originally performed by legendary rock group Mr. Mister.
The Swiss rapper infuses the Sldu powered instrumental, with his lyrical rap flow alongside some powerful female

The Demagogues have a single

titled Cocaine Blues. The song is
a retelling of the traditional blues
standard Little Sadie which is an
American bad-man ballad from
the late 19th or early 20th century.
It is related to other, similar songs
Bad Lee Brown and Cocaine
Blues, the latter of which was
recorded by Johnny Cash.
The earliest written record of
Little Sadie dates to 1922 and
the first audio recording was
made by North Carolina old-time
musician Clarence Tom Ashley
in 1930. The murder in the story

took place in North Carolina,
with the sheriff from Thomasville
apprehending the killer in Jericho,
which is possibly somewhere near
Charleston, SC.

releases. Every song is of an exceptionally high
quality production-wise and they have no filler
tracks that you may have come to expect with run of
the mill electronic bands from time to time.
Worldwide Groove Corporations music, style, and
approach to songwriting and sound production is
groundbreaking, a soulful mind-stream of aural

Livin On The Edge has a driven, almost funky rhythm with a catchy hook in the chorus. Justin extends his vocal range all over the octave
within this track. This is one of my favorite songs on the EP. The other is the piano-ballad, Long Distance, a song apparently inspired by
Bruno Mars and dedicated to those who have long distance relationships. The song implores to not lose hope and trust in loved-ones, family
or friends who are separated from us by distance. Justin closes the EP with an acoustic track, I Am Me, against bullying and discrimination.

Kontradiction has a bit of an old
school rap style which means
that 10 years from now you could

Noodles and still feel these songs
as fresh and as relevant as they
are now. Moreover his songs are
realistic, intelligent story-telling
compared to what other artists
are rapping about.
This young rapper proves that
the industry needs to step back
and stop pushing crap with 1

or 2 hit tracks and a bunch of
filler and let the artists do their
job. Kontradiction stepped up
and showed the world that you
can rap about something of
substance and not have to settle
for mediocre songwriting just to
receive radio-play.
Cup Noodles talks about
appreciating
the
intangible
things like love, friendship and
family and some tangible things
dear to the hiphop game, like
money, parties and sex. He takes
us on a journey back and lets
us in on his hard times, the fun
times and those ever-precious
chilling-out times, while still

touching on relevant issues. The
lyrics, the beats, the samples,
the melodies, and the overall
concept of this album is just
brilliant for a crew of newcomers.
I am starting to think this kid is
wise beyond his years. With a
masterful use of language and
a great display of storytelling,
Kontradiction proves that hip
hop isnt completely dead. He
stands head and shoulders above
the current roster of mainstream
radio rappers out right now. He
has definitely taken the game
to another level; so insightful,
original, and reflective.
The beats deserve a very close
listen. Far removed from the
overplayed, usual downloadable
stuff, filled with cheesy pop
hooks and stuffed with electronic
effects, the producers featured
on Cup Noodles have created
a magnificent set of organically
jazzy, warm and soulful beats
that
suits

unforced, laid-back flow to a
tee. Hot names to remember are

he went into Studio Motion
at Mllan in Malm, and
together with the producer

the fall of 2013. In parallel
with the work on the album,
Ted worked on the song
Crucified with producer
Amir Aly at the Yla Studio in
another part of Malm. This

Whereas, From The Inside
And Out is an almost
purely rock induced album,
Crucified takes on a more
delicate
singer-songwriter
perspective.

Bergqvists soft, yet gravelly,
restrained and emotive vocals.
Send in a cello, and then the
lovely voices of the backing in
the chorus; enter the drums,
more strings, then more

the bridge that follows, is simply

This song pays homage to the
universal fear of never quite
realizing ones dreams, be they
people, places or shapes of the
heart that inevitably leads to
heartbreak. In an era of sickly sweet
pop delivered by boy bands, teen
princesses and acidic, cacophonic
noise produced by overrated
artists, Ted Bergqvist stands apart,
delivering music with heart and
soul which you can feel when you
listen to it.
Few songs can truly reach out and
grab you from the first listen, but
Crucified did just that to me.
Teds voice has a unique quality
to it, unmistakable, soothing, and
rough at the same time, it creates
an almost hypnotizing effect.
Moreover its the simplicity of this
song that makes it so beautiful.
Its refreshing to hear such honest,
melodic and heartfelt music
from a rising artist. I can heartily
recommend this single to almost
anyone; especially those who enjoy
OneReplublic or The Fray. Ted
Bergqvist provides a wonderful
break from the same old stuff that
keeps coming out nowadays.

they sign their names on.
Today the internet and the artist in this case Andy Rawn, work together to create musical success. Music is now downloaded directly to the
waiting publics latest high tech gear and a singers popularity depends a great deal on their media hype and public appearances. Certainly,
artists have to work harder than their predecessors, without the big companies and national radio stations pushing their latest releases. The
new breed of singer composes many of his own songs and depends on his own resources to reach the people and to stay in the game. Over
and above talent, this takes huge amounts of courage and lots of usable human energy. Luckily for Andy Rawn he has bucket loads of either
available, together with a good dose of ambition thrown in too!
Obviously like any other artist, not everything Andy Rawn does is great or even good, but he keeps on plodding ahead relentlessly, releasing
new material to better his craft and finally find that magical combination that in the end will take him into mass appeal, crossover country
with the younger generation.
John Lennon once said: Everything will be okay in the end. If its not okay, its not the end. Andy Rawn knows that too, so his hybrid popclassic version of Ava Maria is only the beginning!

The worlds of jazz, hip-hop, rock, soul and funk have crossed and at that intersection is Excuse Me by
Joe Blessett. One of the joys of this album is its eclectic nature, its hard to understand or prepare for
whats coming next. Which means that while this album may not be for everyone its worth a listen or
two.
The music captures the fires and passions often brewing within Blessett. Comfortable with his craft and
sound work, numerous samples are overlaid creating a rich but evocative sound. The rabid soundscapes
are infectious and sometimes even disturbing, mixing a varied amount of styles all into the same track
not. Clearly this album is for the open-minded and not for the faint at heart or musical snobs.
The music is loaded with energy and ever-changing rhythms, influences and sounds, as Blessett disregards
conventional music structures like verse-bridge-chorus-verse. Instead he kicks off a track with one idea
then develops it, moving through various tangents without limits or boundaries. Tracks I liked best were
Taking It Down, Kali, In The City and Good To My Girl, but probably because they were the most
accessible of the bunch.
Joe Blessett uses time to build up the tracks, as complex drum patterns grow into the songs. The
production of the music, the structure in the instrumentation, and the fusion of sounds speak clearly for
itself. Joe Blessett is experimenting and doing his thing without the claustrophobic limits of conventional

The Zooty Cru EP is solid all the way through. I
dont even dream of skipping a track. The melodies

appeal. That said, these tracks do not lack depth in
any way, they are simply more accessible.

The rhythms are very clever and never overbearing,
which makes a very good starting point for people
getting to know ManBearPimp. Its soundscape has no
qualms with repeating itself to reinforce tiny details
of the big picture. For anyone who can sit and just
stare into the deep and dark abyss of the ocean or the
endlessly beautiful, blue skyline for hours, Zooty
Cru EP is an expression of that vast, contrasting and
inspiring experience.
My favorite track is without out a doubt the funky
Daft Punk-inspired, Auggie Aulinz Should 1

JAMON was originally known for being a third of rap

trio Da Block. He started his rap career in November
of 2011 when Da Block released their first mixtape
entitled The Ride Home. Since the release of the
mixtape, Da Block has been traveling and performing
with artists such as The Game, DJ Quik, YG, Big Sean,
Cataracs, Kid Ink, Suga Free, Faith Evans, Mann,
Mickey Avalon, Travis Porter, El Debarge, Warren G,
and many more.
Born Jamon Saletai Kimball on October 29, 1990 in
Oceanside, California, when JAMON was two years
old, his family moved to Hawaii where he was raised.
His father was arrested in 1999 and now serves 25 to

life in prison. In 2000 JAMON moved back to California
where he attended and graduated from El Camino High
School in 2009. He credits Jay-Zs The Blueprint as his
first time listening to rap music but didnt start writing until
2011. JAMON is currently sponsored by Body Art Bus, the
only fully licensed mobile tattoo studio in California and
managed by Joey Chavez.
JAMON is one of the most interesting and talented young
rappers to come along and you better believe the hype. Its
not unwarranted though since JAMON has the talent and
the songs to back up his hype. The JAMON EP gives fans
JAMON
a chance to own a copy of one of the most enjoyable Rap
and Hiphop Eps released in the past few months.
While JAMON does have a healthy dose of bangerworthy tracks in his catalog, there are a good number of
slow songs on the JAMON EP where he shines with his
depth of lyrics and impressively metered flow. Those that
easily grabbed my attention are Mommas Boy Ft. Cheefie
Cheef (Prod. By Scarecrow Beats), Thank You (Prod. By
Mr. Kooman) and Letters To A.K. (Prod. by Jamon).
Another great high point of this EP, is easily the
production. JAMON consistently shows that he has good
taste in the beats that he uses, and after having heard the
JAMON EP a few times now, I cant find one that I dont
like. Each one seems to be handcrafted to fit JAMON,
his style of writing, and crystallizes the feel of the song.
Also, the features are all well done. Clearly the standout
tracks on the Ep are, Good Ol Days Ft. Lil Hitt (Prod. By
Juan C. Rios), Stars Tonight Ft. Joshua Sharpe (Prod. By
Mr. Kooman) and #AfakasiRaps (Prod. by The Roots). Allround though, youve got a mix of songs that you can just
lay back, listen and relax to, while JAMON lays down his
rhymes.
Hiphop and rap in particular, has been the canvas,
brushes and paint used by many artists to relay their
thoughts and state of mind. But at some point in time,
those same brushes, paint and canvasses became more
important than the pictures they needed to draw. Not
so for JAMON. Sure, he has crafted a collection of songs
that is for the listener who appreciates skillful wordplay
and the hottest sounding organically-driven beats to ride
out to. But at the same time he is directing his personal
thoughts and state of mind, while colorfully painting his
lyrical pictures.
This guy has so much love for music and life that it
transpires through his tracks. He makes you look past the
mere mechanics of hip hop and takes you to the heart
the music he makes. JAMON is smart, witty and a more
talented emcee than almost anyone of the new Hip-hop

Giulio Nightfall is a guitarist, composer, poet, writer
and Italian Luthier (most of his albums released were
recorded with self-built guitars). Born in Treviso,Italy,
he showed creative imagination and determination
in different artistic fields from an early age. Giulio
writes and composes his own music in which he
alternates moments of carefree tenderness and
moments of dark powerful pure rock.
The contrasts that generates his music is wrapped in
a mystery of light and darkness, which traces a path
of perpetual dualism that humanity lives every day;
where love often clashes with hatred, tenderness
with coldness, fragility with strength and tears with
a smile.
But Giulio Nightfall is not only a performer artist
and songwriter who has composed for himself and
many other emerging groups. Experiencing a strong
passion for writing poetry during 2007 he also
decided to approach novel writing, and has since
become a published author of both. It was during
this time that living emotions and transmitting them,
became a real dependence for Giulio; inducing him
to begin a journey of personal studies in psychology,
Neuro-linguistic-programming and positive thinking,
through research and analysis of over 107 books.
Giulio is also a passionate Luthier. The particular
characteristic of his guitars being, that they have no
paint, so the wood is left full freedom of movement
for a more natural sound. In less than two years
after his debut release, Giulio had released another
10 albums bringing attention to his creative energy
without limits, in both his music and creative writing
activities.
Until recently most of his albums are have been
fully self-performed and produced, whereas the last
two albums feature several international artists -either

handling vocals, lyrics or drum parts.
Recently we managed to get got hold of two albums
by Giulio Nightfall, namely New Happy Blues Rock
Experience and Angels, to savor the essence and
performance of his music.
Unlike many blues albums that are being released today,
New Happy Blues Rock Experience is not an album full
of covers of blues standards. Dont get me wrong: I love
hearing the various interpretations of blues standards by
many artists. I dont get tired of them. However, when
some new blues shows up on my radar, I scramble my
auditory jet sensors and intercept the new tunes with a
vengeance.
GIULIO NIGHTFALL
Every tune on this album is a treat to listen to and is
deserving of multiple slaps of the repeat button. Its chock
full of fresh blues tunes and played as it should be played.
New Happy Blues Rock Experience is a fabulous blues
album. Tradition is observed in the musical form, but
Giulio Nightfall delivers his own artistic twists and turns
with plenty of emotion and some great personal touches.
His playing is excellent, with many strong riffs and soaring
solos, especially on My Girlfriend, Sex On the Burning
Beach, Sleeping In The Storm and Flying On The See
III. What I like about this album is the great mix of classic
and modern-styled sounding blues.
Moving onto Angels, we uncover a more technical Giulio
Nightfall, who does however play with a good deal of feel
and emotion on this album. His love and enthusiasm for
making music shows through in everything he plays here.
And of course, at this point in his career, he is moving
towards being a guitar virtuoso of the highest order.
Angels contains 10-tracks including interpretations
of popular classics like Amazing Grace, Over The
Rainbow, Ave Maria and Greensleeves. Adagio in
Gmin in particular, is chock full of death defying scale
runs and sweep arpeggios and features some classic
themes and variations that any guitarist could easily fall in
love with, listening to Giulio. Coupled with a strong sense
of classical harmony and rock inspired phrasing, Giulio
Nightfalls playing is also exemplified by his virtuosity on
tracks like Rock Adrenaline and Flying On The Sea II.
I would definitely recommend both albums as an excellent
overall example of the blending of technical wizardry,
classical harmony and blistering blues showmanship
that is present in Giulio Nightfalls playing and musical
composition.

Sanchez S Wallace aka

Messenger,
has
been
performing in the music
world since his first
induction into the choir
during elementary school
but the road has been long
and tortuous before he
managed to release his first
single under the Star Talents
imprint, as Sanchez found
himself living in a homeless
shelter for teens at the age
of 17 due to a suicide scare
he gave his grandparents.
He hadnt truly lived at home with his
mother stably since his early teen
years, as he was subjected to physical
and mental abuse and placed in a
Christian school. That didnt work so he
was excommunicated from the church
and placed in a boarding school. At this
new homeless shelter in WA he was
offered the GED program schooling but
instead he chose to finish out his high
school diploma by riding the public
transportation system at 5A across two
cities.
After graduating he fell off the deep
end, going through alcohol like it was
soda pop, jumping into Marijuana as
a daily recreation and then doing the
raves where it was a cocktail of anything
he could get his hands on. In 2001,

this binge led to a mental meltdown
and the development of drug-induced
schizophrenia that had him in and out
of institutions every few months.
Eventually Sanchez quit the drugs
and fought through the psychosis
until 2005 when he reached a
point of normality. With the help of
psychotropic meds, he was able to go
from paranoid schizophrenic to bipolar.
He got through two years of college
to receive a certificate in relational
communications and close to his DTA

transfer degree.
In 2010 Sanchez went back to the
pursuit of music when he stumbled
upon an internet radio station WKNZ
Power 101 and Cavvy Studios. In
February of the same year he recorded
his first song, Rise From It All, then in
September Star Talents became a sole
proprietorship and began its journey in
Entertainment Artists Development.
Sanchez has kicked off 2015 working

on a contract to finance his first storefront for Neighborhood Lyrics, as
well as get his emerging song Get You Hot ft. Jthe4th and Shamelis
on multination FM and Satellite radio. But in the meantime he has been

monothematic album concept, this dude is all over the place!
Each track reveals more and more of the deep and complex world that is
Sanchez S Wallace. From GET YOU HOT, BFTB to DESIGNER GIRL, MIZZ
NAUGHTY, and TO YOU ILL CLING, the Star Talents premier artist, moves
through an array of RnB, Hiphop and catchy electronic-based beats with
similar ease. However its on tracks like Times Of The Vampire, Afterlife,
Dronelife and Dream Chasers that you realize that heres someone
making music with lyrical creativity, sincerity and courage.
He has plenty of rap skills but doesnt rely too much on one-liners
and punch-lines like his mainstream peers, preferring instead to build
complete lyrical pictures with impressive storytelling craftsmanship. He
holds nothing back, saying whatever is on his mind, pouring out every inch
of his personality over and over again throughout the tracks. I also really
appreciate how Sanchez puts solid commitment into creating things the
way he wants them, and not simply being a generic artist. He does what
he enjoys and puts in a lot of effort into his work, always doing something
different and exciting on each track.
Like most creative-minded artists, Sanchez S Wallace aka Messengers
music isnt for everyone, like maybe those looking for tons female-sung
vocal hooks, or loads of overused Autotune effects, instead this stuff is
especially for those who actually delve deeper into the music and the

slice of catchy hard rock, telling us all to

here on this earth. The centerpieces,
in my view, are the rocking, dark and
brooding Not A Day Longer which is
a phenomenal song along with The
Place.
Throughout all their songs the band
hints strongly at melodicism without
losing their gritty rock feel, while
showcasing good musicianship and

alienating themes we can all relate to. They also put an extreme amount
of truth, emotion and heart into their lyrics which are topical and pertinent,
as is recognizable in Missingbut its ultimately the music that wins us
over in the end.
For me to like and respect a band, they need to have something that
makes them stand out, and The House The Old definitely stands out.
Their vocal arrangements and instrumentals are amazingly put together,
and Not A Day Longer plays perfect testimony to this.
The band brings raw energy, passion, and excitement to their
compositions, then mix in refined arrangements and intelligent lyrical
themes. Considering how many great rock bands there are in this world
trying to do the same thing, I was amazed at how unlike most other rocks
bands, The House The Old sound like. Its something about how they
combine their melodic verses with heavy choruses and emotional lyrics
which makes them unique.
All the songs by The House The Old are pretty catchy too, and Ive gotten
a couple of them stuck in my head for days at a time. The music alone
could grab anybodys attention and get them hooked. You definitely want
to give this band a listen!

a sincerity and purity that could make even

At a young age, Rosaye was already surrounded by

a diverse range of music and performing arts, but
being incredibly shy she often felt like being the least
talented person in the room. However her passion,
vocal prowess, musical ability and hard-work ethic
are carefully moving this Australian-based, New
Zealand-born talent, into the upward spiral of female
singer-songwriters.
On her arrival from New Zealand, Rosaye quickly
found a way through a newspaper ad to record
demos of her original songs in a backyard studio. She
later spent time in a Melbourne studio, writing and
recording a number of songs, while also gaining industry

experience by assisting independent artists film their
video clips.
In 2014, she funded the recording of her first single
Letters with producer Tim Carr at Studio 301, which
has received rave reviews. She also ran a crowdfunding
campaign to help fund the recording and release of her
first EP due for release in May 2015. In the meantime,
Rosaye has released the second single, Let Me Be, from
the upcoming EP.
Once again, Rosayes whiskey voice is delicious, and Im
ROSAYE
here to tell you Im devouring every note. This song has
not left my media player since I put it in a week ago!
Theres no dismal teen bubblegum drivel here. This is
what pop music should be. The track resounds with its
percussion, string pads and piano hooks, telling the
listener that Rosaye is definitely on her way. For some
reason she calls to mind a mystical blend of Enya and
a powerhouse Pat Benatar strong music, good beat,
great lyrics, and just one heck of a song.
Nowhere is her lyrical tenacity more prevalent than on
Let Me Be, where she tells a loved-one that he needs
to move on, because after the countless promises and
disillusions, she already has: Leave me alone just let me
be, why wait till now to come through for me, Better late
than never means nothing to me, Leave me alone and let
me be
Her songs are well rounded, yet also catchy, but never
fluffy. I think it comes down to the fact that Rosaye can
really sing and has a subtly that you wont find in many
voices. She is equally comfortable singing pop and
ballads.
I admit that my expectations to Let Me Be were sky
high too. I am very fond of Rosayes first single, Letters
and thought that it would be nearly impossible for her to
follow it up with a second single of the same high quality.
So actually Im surprised to say that not only have my
expectations been met, they have also been exceeded!
Let Me Be has good potential of making a solid radio
hit where Rosaye displays a truly beautiful voice and
sings with a sincerity and purity that could make even
angels envy her. Her control and fluidity make it easy to
get caught up in the lyrics.
There are times when musical instinct and talent come
together to deliver material which has a quality that hits
the sweet spot in any listener. Let Me Be is a prime
example!

EVOLETAH
Formed in 2005, the Australian band, EVOLETAH released their debut mini album, Fools Errand in early 2008. Their follow-up release in 2009, Evaporating, garnered exceptional critical acclaim and managed to further the profile
of the project. The bands 3rd release, Sleepwalker, an artful effort that took
a year to write
and record, had again taken the group to unexpected terrain,
although as one reviewer put it, It comes as no surprise, that Sleepwalker,

is a stunning achievement. Their fourth album, We ache for the Moon saw
members Matt Cahill, Andrew Boyce, Jason Eyers-White and Michael Shanahan collaborate with the award-winning artist Katie Underwood.
EVOLETAH played a Sold Out performance at the Adelaide Fringe of 2014,

where they showcased a String Quartet and Horn Section alongside their soulful vocals, intricate guitars and tight rhythm section to further enhance the experience and full scope of their cinematic sound. In fact EVOLETAH will once
again be back to wow their fans on Saturday March 14th at The Osmond Tce
Function Centre in Adelaide.
In the meantime we caught up with band members, Matt Cahill and Andrew
Boyce in an exclusive interview.
How long have you been doing

what youre doing and how did
you get started in the first place?
Matt Cahill: Well.in some
respects Ive been singing since I
was very small, maybe 4 or 5 years
old. My Grandmother used to play
piano & sing along to it, so there
was always music in the house as
far back as I can remember, but I
guess I didnt become a serious
vocalist until I was in my late teens.
The Violets were my first real
musical group & I was a full time
member for just over 13 years.
Who were your first musical
influences that you can remember?
Andrew Boyce: My parents listened
to a lot of folk when they were
younger. Peter, Paul and Mary, and

that kind of stuff. Growing up Paul
Simon Graceland, Dire Straits
Brothers in Arms and Cold Chisel
East were records
I remember getting played a
lot. For myself, I got into a lot of
jazz-funk when I was younger but
everything changed once I heard
The Bends for the first time.
Matt Cahill: Same for me, that
record had the same effect on me.
The only other stand out moment
for me was when I was around 15
years old; I accidentally heard the
influences of Jazz via the David
Sylvian album, Brilliant Trees. I
think it burned inside me forever;
Ive lost count of how many times
Ive heard that record.
Which artists are you currently

listening to? And is there anybody
youd like to collaborate with?
Andrew Boyce: I am really enjoying
the new Elbow record The Take
Off and Landing of Everything. A
real return to form. They are not
in a hurry to get anywhere so it
requires patience but if you can
stay with its a really rewarding
listen. Ive also been enjoying stuff
from Nicolas Jaar, an electronic
artist but he uses quite organic
elements in his music. Also, new
records from Spoon, Augie March,
Timber Timbre, War on Drugs,
Sharon Van Ettten, Warpaints last
record and Ive enjoyed Asgiers
record.

In fact, I did speak to him recently
& there was discussion of working
together, but between his graphic
design business & his own music,
coupled with the fact that he lives in
Sweden & we are in Australia, it was
decided that it might be a No go,
unfortunately.
Describe the first piece of musical
equipment
that
you
actually
purchased. And which is the one
piece of hardware or software youre
still looking to add to your collection
now?
Andrew Boyce: Some crappy 80s
metal looking guitar and a Samick
practice amp that I spray painted
gold for some reason. The guitar

was stolen. I found it in the local
pawn shop and reported it to
the police but they didnt want
to know about it. It forced me to
buy another guitar so I bought a
Fender Jazzmaster which I still
have to this day.

still have their own power. Most
bands rely on distortion to get their
power but Ive tried to create this
through my own playing not the
pedals. Most of Moon is played
on a Gretsch White Falcon and we
did use a few different amps to get

If you were forced to choose only

any other drives you to stay in this
tough business. Is it joy, anger,
desire, passion or pride and why?
Andrew Boyce: Without a doubt,
passion. Weve all been playing
in various bands since we were
teenagers. We are definitely not
in our 20s now so you dont play
original music this long unless
it is accompanied by a passion
for music and a desire to create
something amazing.
Matt Cahill: Definitely, music is
the love of my life..
Which aspect of being an
independent artist and the music
making process excites you most
and which aspect discourages you
most?
Andrew Boyce: Well the fact that
we can do our own thing without
any eyes prying in on what we are
doing. I dont think an album like
Moon would spill out if it were
under record company direction.

Of course, the flipside is that budgets

and promotional avenues are always
limited. Trying to create a masterpiece
with a shoestring budget is always
a challenge but it hasnt stopped us
yet!

How did the collaboration with

Underwood come about and do

in the pipeline?
Matt Cahill: Well..back in early
2013, when we had recorded the
demo for the song Time, I had
this really strong gut feeling that
we should ask a female vocalist to
sing it. So, as an idea for a point
of reference I thought Id show
Andrew a track that I really liked
the vocal on called Beautiful by
an artist called Katie Underwood.
We realized that she was in fact
Australian & lived in Melbourne.
So, to cut a long story short, our
people got a hold of hers & about
six weeks later, she was onboard
to sing the track. Next thing, its a
year later & weve recorded almost
an entire album together. Then,
we sold out our Fringe show & we
are now going for a second, so its
been a great collaboration to say
the least.
You had a Sold Out performance at
the 2014 Adelaide Fringe Festival
and youll be back there again on
the 14th March. What have you
got in store for the fans this time
around?
Andrew Boyce: This is a chance
for fans to enjoy the full scope
of our music in a live setting.
There are 4 of us in the band as
such but there are 12 of us when
we do this expanded line up. A
bit of a nightmare to co-ordinate
but its amazing when it all comes

together. Hearing the string quartet in

rehearsals gives me Goosebumps as it
just takes the songs to another level.
Weve changed the set up a bit this
time so a few songs from our previous
records that we havent played live
before as well as some new stuff.
Its a great venue with a killer sound
system there so the songs will really
sound full and powerful. I cant wait!
Matt Cahill:When we were

younger we were introduced to
Neil Finn form Crowded House
by our A&R team. I was most awed
by his presence & like a child I was
able to give him a copy of my then
band The Violets first album, to
which he very graciously spoke
highly of the Artwork. He then
said to me, Grab this opportunity
with both hands & make all you
can out of it. I think youll find
in the end, that its harder to
deny, than it is to just get on with
doing it. Thanks Neil, Ive never
forgotten that advice mate!!

indie music in general, or do you
think it has only produced a mass of
mediocre copy-and-paste artists,

Andrew Boyce: I wont ever be writing a single for a record company. That doesnt mean I wont be writing a
song that could be a single. If a record company ever says we need a single they can go and get stuffed. You
cant write amazing music that way as it forces you to use logic as to what a song needs. Great art transcends
logic and I am only interested in creating music that transcends the elements.
