Introduction
The Clipsal by Schneider Electric plate ranges continue to grow and transform, with the release of
the Saturn Zen range of premium LED switches, sockets and the new charging smart shelf
accessory and pictograms. Continuing with the push button theme, Saturn Zen has a subtle,
modern design to suit both residential and commercial applications. With an understated look and
clever design features, the standard LED push button switches make it easy to find the switch at
night and with the introduction of Pictograms make it even easier to determine what room/area
you are switching.
With the release of our USB Charger Mechanism, the new range will offer an innovative charging
smart shelf accessory to allow you to take your smartphone or tablet off the table and put it on the
shelf that is part of the wall plate, in a neat and convenient way to charge your phone or tablet.
Following this launch, we will see the Saturn Zen finish within the C-Bus range of wall switches.
Currently in development are one, two, three and four button C-Bus Saturn Zen wall switches in
Zen White and Zen Black finishes. The C-Bus eDLT wall switch is being developed for the C-Bus
Saturn Zen range also. Product release is expected in the near future. Please stand by for further
news.

What is the LED life expectancy?
Generally LED life is 100,000 hours. If we consider two examples:

A switch locator, where the LED would be illuminated for say, 20 hours per day, the
LED would last approx 14 years.
A light on indicator, where the LED would be illuminated for say, 4 hours per day,
the LED would last approx 68 years.

How much energy does the LED use?
The LED draws approx 0.0006A or 0.6 milliamps. If a customer installs 10 LED switches the total of
all LEDs is approximately 1.4W if they are all illuminated at the same time.

4.0 speakers have an aluminium grille which will not rust (not IP rated), so installing in the
bathroom ceiling is not a problem for these speakers (protects only against moisture
generated by steam).
Bluetooth Amplifier is ideal for a customer that wants the convenience of Bluetooth
connectivity on an existing fixed audio solution, re-routing of cables to the module can
provide this convenience. Can be used for its Bluetooth Connectivity and Amplification
features for any passive speakers such as the Clipsal outdoor speakers.

in the smaller areas of the premises.
Electrican is only needed to provide a 240v socket at the master speaker location with the
rest of the install can be done DIY.
Competitor Analysis
There is one competitor currently on the market called Resilinx, which have products of equal
performance and specification. Their go-to-market strategy, distribution and customer base differs
from ours; therefore the probability of crossover selling is minimal.
We will always face competition in the consumer market with portable Bluetooth speaker Sonos
have a WIFI Amplifier, however this requires cabling and passive speakers.
Please note that that Sonos are in a different market and have a different customer base. Their
system cost is considerably more than where we are positioned in the market. Please consider
these factors when making comparisons and when challenged by customers on it.

Product Updates
Starting with the CEF40 Series and the 7100 Series Exhaust fans.
The new Fan, Light, Heater units (6500ADS & 6600ADS) will follow early in the new year.
The remainder of product will change to the new packaging in the year to come.
With packaging being the face of our products to the consumer, the right packaging will add value
to the product by recreating and refining it to be more unique and attractive, we can separate our
products from the competition, engage better with consumers, and increase our profitability.

Weatherprotected Isolating Switch - change to earthing
Recently the WHA, WHB and WHC range of products have experienced a component change
where the earthing point was altered from two screw terminations to single screw. Some customers
have asked whether or not this complies with Australian Standards. Rest assured this does comply
with Clause 2.9.4.2 (d) (ii) which states:
a neutral conductor used as a combined protective earthing and neutral (PEN) conductor for
protective earthing of any portion of an electrical installation, the terminal shall be of a type
having
(ii) one screw with an outside diameter not less than 80% of the tunnel diameter.

Upsell to photoelectric technology best solution for the home - for faster response to
smouldering fires.
Smoke alarms have a limited 10 year life time. All smoke alarm types need to be replaced
every 10 years.
Clipsal Smoke Alarms make replacement an extremely simple task as they can be
unclipped by the homeowner and swapped with a new unit.
Upsell and change builders specification to flush mount alarms as much as possible.

Launch of Life Is On Partner Campaign
On February 2, 2015, we are launching a new campaign to tell the rest of the industry about Club
Clipsal and encourage more potential members to join Australias largest community for electricians
and electrical contractors.
The membership criteria for the Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers remains however we are introducing
a new, Bronze, tier dedicated to electricians. These members are not electrical contractors but are
qualified electricians.
By opening the club up to the wider electrician market, we are ensuring that we recruit electricians
early into their career (our research shows that the average age of an electrician is lower than an
electrical contractor) and hope they stay with us as they progress through their careers and
therefore through the club tiers to end up as Platinum members and Clipsal ambassadors.
Also, more members means more knowledge and a bigger community within the industry.

Gemcell Promotion

On Thursday 22 January, The Gemcell Group launched The Great Australian Giveaway
promotion in conjunction with Schneider Electric, by holding a barbeque in every Gemcell branch
nationally.
The promotion runs for 3-months launching just prior to Australia Day and finishing on Anzac Day.
To be eligible to enter, customers must spend $1000 on Clipsal or Schneider Electric product(s) in
one or multiple transactions. Minor prizes will be drawn in each wholesale branch at the start of the
month based on sales from the previous month.
At the end of the promotion period, all entries into the minor draws will be collated into the major
draw. There are 5 major prizes up for grabs and there will be one major prize winner from each

This years business session is being held in the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton Adelaide on Friday

27 February. With over 800 customers attending the event over 2 sessions, the theme for this
event is Race to the Future preparing our customer for the new digital era.
We will be showcasing our latest products and solutions, innovative technologies and product
designs, digital tools to drive business into the future and the opportunity for our customers to
network with industry colleagues.
Consumer Marquee
2014 marked the first year that Clipsal had a dedicated marquee at the Clipsal500 event to engage
with consumers.
With the launch of the Clipsal consumer campaign in June 2014, this years consumer marquee is
going ecapulate the Life Is On messaging. This years marquee is going to be bigger and better
than ever.
It features the USB charger artwork externally and showcases our consumer product range
internally.
There are plenty of charging stations on the back wall which means you dont have to worry about a
flat battery moment as well as giveaways in the form of a branded fedora hat.
There will be an interactive wall that features PUSH Controls and Clipsal Wishlist and promo girls
will be circulating within the marquee with iPads to capture customer queries and details.
Other customer focussed activities that are happening at the 500 include:
The introduction the USB microsite usb.clipsal.com which is dedicated to the features
and benefits of the USB charger.
The launch of Which Switch? An addictive game weve created especially for the event,
which features a Simon Says style game which you can download from the App Store or
Google Play.
