Technology Center
The GE Energy Manufacturing Technology Center is one of GEs largest and most sophisticated
energy technology centers in the world. The Center reflects GEs dedication to providing our customers
with advanced technology and quality services. It also represents our commitment to invest in the
Kingdom, strengthen our local capabilities, and grow and nurture talented Saudi employees.
Since supplying Saudi Arabia with the first turbine for its first oil refinery in 1942, GE has delivered over
500 turbines to the Kingdom and generates half of its power today. Beginning with Middle East Engineering Ltd, Saudi Arabia (MEELSA) in the 1970s, GEs footprint in Saudi Arabia currently stands at three
local offices and seven energy facilities. Saudi Arabia is also home to the largest GE workforce (over 800
employees) in the Middle East. Over the last eight decades, GE has grown its presence exponentially in
the Kingdom to be nearer to our customers and deliver advanced technology solutions for their toughest
challenges while helping Saudi Arabia expand its energy infrastructure. Leveraging the companys successful 130-year heritage of developing human capital, GE has steadily expanded our knowledge-sharing initiatives in the Kingdom. We have developed several successful co-operative programs with leading
Saudi institutions, such as the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. With 20 Graduate
Management Program (GMP) participants in GE Energy alone, the highly successful GMP
program was recently extended to Saudi Arabia.
The Center is testament to the growing relationship between GE and Saudi Arabia as we continue
to invest and support the Kingdoms ambitions to expand its manufacturing and export sectors.
The Center is designed to empower the next generation of Saudi talent with advanced technical and
management skills. GE remains fully committed to support the Kingdom in achieving its Saudization
goals and becoming a knowledge-based economy.
We are proud that the Center will be located in Dammam to better serve our customers in the
Kingdom, the Middle East, and the world.
GE is proud of our 80-year heritage in Saudi Arabia. The 10,000 square-meter, $100 million GE
Energy Manufacturing Technology Center represents GEs renewed and expanded commitment to
be the Kingdoms energy technology partner toward a sustainable future.

President & CEO, GE Energy
As part of GEs commitment to Saudi Arabia, we are looking forward to a high quality
integrated service facility where GE can repair advanced technology gas turbine-related
parts locally, rather than sending them out of the country, to save time and cost.
(We can already repair E-class turbine parts locally)
We are also pleased to see the realization of GEs promise to expand the training of young
Saudis, giving them the opportunity to know more about the operation and maintenance
of the GE units with the advanced training center. We look forward to the future of more
cooperation and partnership with GE.

Job Creation
Exponentially increasing engineering jobs
Today, Saudi Arabia is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth. To sustain this growth, the
Kingdom is expanding its energy infrastructure by building a skilled Saudi workforce.
GE is supporting Saudi Arabia in fulfilling its economic ambitions: in addition to delivering advanced
energy technology solutions to meet the Kingdoms toughest challenges, GE has taken an early
lead in training and developing Saudi nationals for the energy industry. Understanding the role that
advanced skills and knowledge play in sustaining economic development, GE has leveraged its
130-year history in developing human capital to steadily expand its knowledge sharing and training
initiatives in the Kingdom. One example is the highly successful cooperative program with leading
Saudi institutions such as King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals. Other programs in the
pipeline include an internship program with Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University.
The GE Energy Manufacturing Technology Center is GEs largest commitment in the Kingdom to
date. The center furthers GEs localization efforts through expanding job creation and training
programs. By 2015, it is planned that more than 60 percent of the centers employees will be Saudi.
The center also provides expanded on-the-job training; the advanced training center hosted within
will also offer the latest energy technology and managerial training. All this will empower the next
generation of Saudis to meet the Kingdoms increasing power and water needs and support its
expanding energy infrastructure.
I joined the GE Saudi family 14 years ago, and GE has helped me develop my career. GE believes and
invests in the Saudi nationals who join the GE family. Today, as GE Energys country executive for Saudi
Arabia, I am pleased to welcome even more Saudis on board GE Energy.
