SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM:
First Sunday of each month at 1:30 PM only. Parents should make arrangements by calling the Rectory no later than 2 weeks before the Baptism.
Parents must attend the Baptism instructions before Baptism
SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY:
Time available: Saturday 11 AM-3 PM; Sunday 2:30 PM-3 PM
Couples must make arrangements six months prior to the selected date of their marriage
and fully participate in the Pre-Cana Parish at home.

important, useful and interesting issues, which many of us

basis. It is supposed to be informative, helpful, sometimes
thought-provoking or funny.
We would like to use the gifts
of our parishioners expertise,
passion, knowledge and will to
share with all of us.
Our first one-page addition will
be moderated by Beth Chiariello, who as a professional
occupational therapist, will
focus on various ideas concerning safety at home, at school
etc. You may find her tips on
e.g. back pack safety for kids
or fall prevention for the elderly very appropriate and helpful. Look for them in every

s noted in previous Bulletins, the Catholic

Church has begun to celebrate the
Year of St. Paul. Paul was born around 8
AD. So this year is the bi-millennial celebration of
his birth. This year then is an appropriate time to
study the Letters of St. Paul. Thus all our Bible
Study this year will be focused on Paul.
They speak to our own needs today as they have

done for Christians down through the ages.
The first part of the study of Paul will begin
shortly. It will include 5 sessions:
September 29
October 6
October 13
October 20
October 27
For your convenience each session will take place
twice: 1:152:30 PM and 7:309:00 PM.
The sessions take place in the "Annex" on 244th
Street & Northern Blvd.
Admission is free.
The book with the Letters of Paul with commentary
is $5.00 for those who wish to purchase it.
It is my hope that the life and words of St. Paul will
enliven our hearts and stir up our relationship with
God so that , like Paul, Jesus Christ will be truly
the Lord of our lives.
The early Christian communities with whom Paul

shared his life and preaching anticipated receiving
a letter from him. They found courage, guidance
and consolation in his words. These same letters
have been central to the Church's teachings
throughout the centuries up to the present day.

MOVIE CLUB
Yesterday
Yesterday is the first international feature film ever shot in the Zulu
language, and is the first South African film to receive an Oscar
nomination (in the category of Best Foreign Language Film).
Equally important, Yesterday was made with the support of Nelson
Mandela and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, marking an important new commitment by Mandela (and South Africa) to attempt to
erase the long- standing stigma of AIDS in a country that has been
ravaged by it, primarily from lack of knowledge about the disease.

The Cub Scout Pack and the Boy Scout Troop
have begun their activities for the year. To
learn more, please feel free to call the Parish
Representative for Scouting, Tom McGlinchey,
at 718 224 9634.
The Cub Scouts serves boys who are starting
first grade, through the third grade, and the
Webelos program provides a more active program for boys while they are in the fourth and
fifth grades. This transition program readies
them to become Boy Scouts when they graduate in the middle of the fifth grade. The Boy
Scouts serves these fifth graders, and other
young men from the 6th grade to age 18.
The parish program serves the entire community. Meetings are on Sundays. The Boy
Scouts meet at 4:30 and the Cub Scouts meet
at 6:30, in Father Smith Hall. We look forward
to welcoming you!
