In 2013 ebm-papst celebrated its 50th anniversary. With the men and women who were with him at the
beginning, company founder Gerhard Sturm laid the foundation for a stunning growth story. What began
half a century ago as a small regional company with 35 employees is now the international market leader
with facilities in 57 countries. To ensure that we remain successful, we are not resting on our laurels. We
continue to look towards the future. Our founder's guiding principle still applies: Every new product should
be economically and ecologically superior to its predecessor.

Committed to sustainable thinking and acting


At ebm-papst, we think and act sustainably. Our GreenTech label stands for sustainability in products,
production and processes. With our energy-saving EC fans, our energy efficiency measures in energy
management or building systems, or our energy scouts trainee project, we always strive for maximum
energy and resource efficiency.
We achieve top efficiency with our motors and fans. Even in the design phase, we optimize our materials and
processes for the greatest possible eco-friendliness, a favourable energy balance, significantly longer service
life and recyclability.
The environmental benefits of our products are measurable and help them meet the most stringent standards.
It is not unusual for them to exceed the requirements of future limits many times over. In this way, we create
value for both the environment and the user.

Research & development


ebm-papst provides the right solution for every air technology and drive engineering task. If the right product is not
available, our engineers and technicians in R&D work with the customer to develop a new, customized solution. In
the past few years, we have applied for 250 domestic and 550 international patents. Every detail counts.
For example, the AxiTop diffuser reduces the so-called exit losses in cooling processes by over 20 percent, making
the fan on which it is mounted both quieter and more efficient. FlowGrid reduces the noise from our axial and
centrifugal fans by up to 6 dB(A) by eliminating the extra noise caused by inflow disturbances. That results in lower
noise emissions, regardless of how it is installed in the customer's equipment.
In 2010, all of our EC fans were already in compliance with the ErP thresholds that are to take effect in the
European Union in 2015.

Effective environmental protection in production


Production At 18 production sites in Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, China, India and the USA, we pledge
to always use resources efficiently. To live up to this pledge, we continually review and improve our
manufacturing processes.
We do not only meet globally binding quality and environmental standards, we exceed them in every respect.
This also applies to our products: all of the motors and fans we produce conform to applicable standards,
have few harmful substances and are energy-efficient, durable and recyclable; in addition, we exclusively
use environmentally sound packaging and shipping methods.

Sales & distribution With our export share of more than 71 percent and our presence in 57 countries
throughout the world, we are found all around the globe. In each country, our sales offices boast a tightknit network of representatives and engineers not only keenly trained to advise on the complete ebm-papst
product range, but also ready to serve as your link to the R&D centers. Our internationally geared sales
organization supports our customers in their efforts to effectively and lastingly meet the global targets agreed
on in the climate summit.
Our eight core segments in the markets all profit from our know-how and expertise. Not only because of quick and
professional realization of projects, but also because ours is the most comprehensive range of highest efficiency
fans and blowers due to our GreenTech initiative. This initiative focuses on energy efficiency, quality and ecofriendliness, paired with workplace safety and cost-effectiveness. Without doubt, the complexity of pioneering
solutions is going to increase tremendously. For this reason, we actively engage in transfer of knowledge and
information in dealing with our partners, and of course we invest heavily in staff training and seminars.

Bundled expertise
The perfect interplay of motor technology, aerodynamics and electronics ensures the best performance
for our business sectors. As a worldwide innovation leader in fans and motors with over 15,000 different
products, ebm-papst has the ideal solution for virtually all air technology and drive engineering tasks.
Mulfingen is the seat of the company headquarters and, with the two branches in Niederstetten and
Hollenbach, the Group's largest location. Mulfingen is considered the pioneer and protagonist of innovative
GreenTech EC technology for fans and is focussed on ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration technology
as well as mechanical engineering and the finishing equipment industry. The product portfolio of the location
in the Hohenlohe region includes axial and centrifugal fans and blowers. In production and office space totalling
100,000 square metres, ebm-papst employs a staff of 3,000 here.

Bundled expertise
St.Georgen is considered a pioneer in the global world of compact fans and drives. Particularly in industrial drive
engineering, the location has grown to become a system supplier. The location in the Black Forest region supplies
intelligent solutions for industries such as rail technology, electronics and telecommunications. In addition, the
Herbolzheim plant is being developed into a high-technology center for the key automotive industry. By integrating

the gearbox specialist Zeitlauf, we have diversified our systems expertise in drive engineering with the addition of
planetary, spur and angular gear assemblies. In production and office space totalling 50,000 square metres, ebmpapst St. Georgen employs a staff of around 1,400; Zeitlauf employs 280.
Landshut concentrates on solutions with the highest reliability and efficiency for heating engineering and
household appliances. With a number of strategic heating sector acquisitions in recent years, ebm-papst
Landshut has developed from a supplier to a system provider in the area of heating and condensing boiler
technology. The product and service portfolio includes applications for gas and oil heaters, fuel cells, clothes
dryers and refrigerators. More than 1,100 employees work in Landshut in a total of 35,000 square metres of
production and office space.

Expertise on site
As a global company, we must respond ever more quickly to the local requirements of the various regional
markets. Therefore, in addition to our global sales network, we also set up development centres in core regions
such as India, China and the USA.

Faith in our junior staff


At the 2014 Hannover Messe Industrie, our trainees and dual-degree students showed that we can rely on
them. They ran the ebm-papst trade fair stand there unassisted. The team was prepared for their big event
in training sessions lasting several days, with internal and external coaches giving technical instruction,
explaining the product range, providing information about commercial issues and practising discussion
techniques with the trainees.
The junior staff went to the trade fair ideally prepared and dealt in a poised and professional manner with
prospective and existing customers, journalists and politicians. An example that shows that with our young
people, we are ready for the future.
