Montage
Description:

pictures and I also used typography.

Programs:
Photosop

Date:

May 31, 2015

Course/Instructor:

Communications 130-Section 5, Visual Media

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

-Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant

spiritual message
-Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using
masks
-Apply typography principles

Process:

I did this using Photoshop and I chose two images to blend

together. I put the first image in the background and then
feathered the other image and dragged it onto my background
image. I put a mask on my feathered image and then used the
brush tool and opacity to blend the two images together. I
also added a scripture on there and used two different texts to
show typography.

Brochure
Description:

This is a brochure I created for my tour company called

Triage Tours. Its about Houston, Texas and why it is such a
great place to come and visit!

Programs:
InDesign and Photoshop

Date:

July 11, 2015

Course/Instructor:

Communications 130-Section 5, Visual Media

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

-Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.

-Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex (two-sided) color.
-Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.
-Incorporate quality images

Process:

I used InDesign and Photoshop to create this brochure. I used

the quick selection tool in Photoshop to cut out the images
and place them into the InDesign document. I also used text
wrap so that the text shaped to the picture and paragraph
style to align the paragraphs. The rest of the design was just
using shapes and lining in InDesign to create my layout.

Photodesign
Description:

The purpose of this project was to show off our skills in

Photoshop, with photography and image editing and using the
same color scheme in a poster.

Programs:
Photoshop

Date:

May 23, 2015

Course/Instructor:

Communications 130-Section 5, Visual Media

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

-creating a full-bleed document with a quality image

- a consistent color scheme with some design elements

Process:

I used a Cannon DSLR camera to take the head shot. I edited

the image in Photoshop with levels, hue/saturation, vibrancy,
balance, sharpness, selective color, skin softening and
enhancement on the eyes. I also used the text and repeating
elements to help the project pop with a cg texture(cgtextures.
com) in the background. I played around a lot with opacity
and overlay just to get a good blending effect within my
poster. I really liked how it turned out and it seems to flow
really well together!

Flier
Description:

This is a leadership conference flier for graduates. There will

be top executives there that will teach the graduates about
leadership skills and how they can be ready for the work force.

Programs:
InDesign

Date:

May 10, 2015

Course/Instructor:

Communications 130-Section 5, Visual Media

Ben Pingel

Objectives:

-Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.

-Retrieve image and logo from links given.
-Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign
document to keep links in InDesign intact.

Process:

I used Indesign to create this flier and the tools available to

me through the program. I sketched many ideas out and this
one seemed to capture my attention because of the alignment
and repetition in the flier. It seemed really neat and clean
to me for a leadership conference but also very friendly and
young looking for those wanting to attend.
