Every Living thing comprises the "energetic" or

functional qualities possessed by the universal five
"Elements"; Water, Fire, Earth, Air and Spirit. The
balance of these five energies is health, and imbalance
denotes illness. Therefore the goal of healing is to
restore natural harmony with all five elements.
Western medicine tends to focus mainly on physical
symptoms within dis-ease, and does not generally
take into account the energetics of dis-ease from the
emotional, mental and spiritual aspects, which also
have an effect. Herbcraft integrates both the
eastern and western approaches with the seasons and
their respective spiritual aspects; and plants and foods
to aid the healing process, thus maintaining the Gifts
of the Three Realms.

Planting Prayer
Leaves, roots, flowers, fruits:
Be ye well and by my toil,
grow ye strong within this soil.

Planting seeds A perfect time to be planting seeds for new growth in

the garden this year and also to plant new seed ideas to watch them
grow throughout the coming year and create changes in your daily life.

There are several plants associated with the festival of Spring Equinox,
and I have listed some of them here. Some are flowering at this time of
year, whilst others are used magically or medicinally for ailments that may
be prominent during the spring. I have also listed some which are
relevant to the digestive system, which we will also cover this month.
and cleanse any stagnant energy and to allow new energy in.

It gives one a sudden start in going

down a barren, stony street, to see
upon a narrow strip of grass, just
within the iron fence, the radiant
dandelion, shining in the grass, like a
spark dropped from the sun
Henry Ward Beecher

Found on waysides, meadows and lawns this popular weed takes its
name from the French for lions tooth (dent de lion), no doubt due to
the shape of its leaves!
This plant is associated with the planet and deity Jupiter, and the
zodiacal sign of Sagittarius. Drinking the tea is said to increase psychic
abilities, maybe due to its cleansing and rejuvenating properties? Because
of its yellow flowers, it is ssociated with the Celtic Sun/Fire Deity
Belenos. Making a wish: Pick a fluffy dandelion puff ball clock on the
night of the Full Moon, call in the sacred directions and energies, and
blow your wish to the wind.

Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is

also a love of humanity Hippocrates

Echinacea (root) Echinacea angustifolia/purpurea

Elder (flower and berry) Sambucus nigra
Garlic (bulb) Allium sativum
Oregano (leaf) Origanum species
Pine (needles) Pinus sylvestris
St Johns Wort (flowers) Hypericum perforatum
Siberian Ginseng (root) Eleuthercococcus senticosus
Thyme (leaf) Thymus vulgaris
