    Linguistic variable stretches includes language change on many levels.

    The changes in lexicon,


    pronunciation and preference of grammatical patterns over prescribed norms are observed in
    units to analyse variation across language use. The variable can exist in any of these forms.
    Labovs Marthas Vineyard, and his study of the American stores display that pronunciations and
    use of language vary amongst people even in a city. The idea of linguistic variations or the idea
    of linguistic variable stretches to a point where the variations have existed through continuous
    suppression. The examples stated below are widely spoken and have resisted suppression from
    the other popular dialects. The immunity comes when the variants are used over a larger social
    level and is present continually and is not necessarily divided geographically. Smaller towns to
    larger cities being economical hub exert linguistic pressure through state and social mediums,
    mainly education and national media. Variables exist in permanence when larger structures like
    social classes speak in such variety with fluency with people around them continue speak in their
    way of speaking. The mutual intelligibility still exists among these speakers amidst the
    variations.
    Bengali spoken in Tripura varies differently due to many factors. The first factor being
    immigrated Bengalis from then East Pakistan, now Bangladesh and the dialect variations these
    people brought along with them. The map is hard to draw as these people did not only just get
    divided on economic levels but also on social levels. The districts adjoining Agartala namely
    Udaipur, Dhalai and Ambassa have different incorporations of Bikrampur, Comilla, Noakhali
    (Feni), Noakhali (Ramganj), Syhlet and Barisal. As a matter of fact, the Bengali spoken in and
    around the capital is a heavy mixture of the Bikrampur and Comilla dialect. If seen on the basis
    of social stratum the people belonging to the economically weaker sections have tended to
    maintain some of the aspects of their speech. It is difficult to divide how grammar, lexicon and
    pronunciation vary across the dialects which have incorporated to bring about the Agartala
    Bangla. A friend of mine, who worked a helping hand at a cable operators shop, spoke Bengali
    in a very different way than I spoke. The lexicon he had was different from how I spoke as he
    had different words. I have tried to enumerate a few examplesEnglish

    These differences reflect the different sort of lexicon the people of my friends community used.
    Now these patterns were also common in the Bangla his mother spoke. Some examples of the
    lexicon differences are listed below.

    The traces of these differences could be drawn back when I had enquired about the immigration
    history. The community they belonged to had its roots in Comilla. The particular variant they use
    in their speech draws its roots from their village. The language is commonly declared corrupt and
    the Agartala literary circle or the elite circle made only feeble attempts to protect this variety. The
    literary works continue to process in the Western dialect. Though this variety exists in the lower
    classes of society and is prominent in the speech of the daily wage workers who come to the city
    for temporary works in construction sites and local shops.
