Applications
Vitamin A Esters are active ingredients for cosmetic skin-care products. They
release Vitamin A on contact with enzymes in the skin. Vitamin A stimulates
cell growth, increases enzyme activity and normalizes cell division. They are
therefore able to counteract the skin-aging process and improve the appearance
of UV-damaged skin.
1 International unit (IU) can be converted into weight with the following equations
1 IU = 0.3 g Vitamin A alcohol (Retinol)
0.344 g Vitamin A Acetate
0.55 g Vitamin A Palmitate
Vitamin A Palmitate 1.7 Mio IU/G is available stabilized and unstabilized. All
grades are available stabilized with approx. 10 mg of DL-alpha-Tocopherol
per Mio IU or with approx. 10 mg of BHT per Mio IU.
Vitamin A Esters are sensitive to air, light, moisture and heat.
The product has a shelf life of 12 months if stored in the original sealed
containers at max. 25C, and 24 months at 5C.
Opened original containers should be flushed with an inert gas and used
up quickly.
Prior to use, the product must be heated to 40C in the unopened container and
homogenized.
