    African Helix Necklace

    Supplies:
    20g of Size 11/0 Seed Beads Main Color (MC)
    8g of Size 11/0 Seed Beads Accent Color (AC)
    Beading Thread
    Clasp

    Tools:
    Beading Needle
    Scissors
    Bead Scoop
    Bead Mat

    1. String on 1 accent color (AC) and 3 main color (MC) beads - repeat 3 more times until you have a
    total of 16 beads. Push the beads down the thread leaving a 6-8 tail. Tie a knot so the beads form
    a circle. Place the circle of beads over a form, such as a pencil or small dowel. This is your base
    row.

    2. Pick up 3 MC and 2 AC beads. Take your needle behind the thread, between the main color and
    accent color beads. Make sure that the thread stays between the two beads and pull snug. The
    beads you just added should lie below the circle of beads. Continue until your necklace reaches the
    desired length.

    Ending
    Before you can add the clasp, you need to make the working end match the beginning base row. Start
    by weaving your thread through three main color and two accent color beads. Add 3 MC beads and go
    through the second AC from the previous row (refer to illustration below). Repeat three more times,
    ending with your needle coming out of the accent bead you started from.

    Adding the Clasp


    You will now decrease the number of beads in the beaded tube. This will decrease the diameter and
    make for a better transition to the clasp.
    With your needle coming out of an accent bead, add 1 AC bead and go through the next accent color
    bead. Repeat three more times, and end with your needle coming out of the first bead you added in
    this row.

    The four beads you added will be your working beads


    for the next step I will refer to them by number. The
    goal in this step is to attach each of these beads to
    the clasp.

    With your needle coming out of bead #1, string on 3 AC


    beads, a 6-8mm bead, 1 AC bead and the clasp. Take
    your needle down through all of the beads you just added,
    through the opposite side of bead #1 (the seed bead you
    started from), and through bead #2.

    With your needle coming out of bead #2, add 3 AC


    beads. Needle up through the 6-8mm bead, AC bead
    and over the clasp. Then take your needle down through
    the AC bead, 6-8mm bead, the 3 AC beads you just
    added, through the opposite side of bead #2, and through
    bead #3.
    Repeat two more times to attach bead #3 and #4 to the
    clasp.
    Weave your thread in and tie off.
