This newsletter provides an update on The Torch Urban Ministries' work in Guatemala. Angelo Velis reports that they have begun partnering with churches in remote, impoverished regions of Guatemala to equip pastors and help reform communities through doctrinal teaching and community development work. At a recent pastors conference, 25 pastors attended instead of the expected 12. They are seeing receptiveness from civic leaders and communities. The newsletter requests prayers and donations to support their ongoing work in Guatemala and local outreach programs in the US.

see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today! !
-Exodus 14:13
When the people of God faced
certain death; between their persecutors and the Red Sea, Moses cried out Behold the salvation of the Lord! As we go into Guatemala we are faced with the magnitude of the needs and how only GOD can fulfill them. Oh we of little faith, let us not look at all the reasons it cannot be done, but trust in Christ, when He says, Do not fear, only believe.
Angelo Velis reports on Guatemala:
Six months ago, Conscience Internationals founder Jim Jennings offered us an opportunity to pursue a partnership in expanding our ministries to Central America. The vision is vast and long term! We were humbled, and prayerfully accepted the call. We began last fall in Guatemala. The Lord led us to the poorest of the poor. A mountain region of over a million people. Where average earnings are between 1-3 dollars/day. Malnutrition for children ranks #1 in the Western hemisphere and 4th in the world! Humble, simple loving people, affected by corruption, bad policies, ignorance and a form of religion that is devoid of transformational power. Poverty, family disintegration, domestic violence and hopelessness snare the nation.
Working alongside a faithful pastor, Santiago
Rosales, with 35 years as a humble servant, we have set a vision to equip a network of Pastors, in unity, love and fellowship. To in turn help equip their churches with sound doctrine, teaching and reformational living; to mature the saints for the work of the church. We are also working with local government agencies with aspirations to come alongside these churches in the hope of sharing responsibility in renewed community development. Everyone has received us with eager anticipation and hope. There currently are no American agencies working in this remote region, and the people have been kind and generous with their hospitality.

THE TORCH URBAN MINISTRIES!
MARCH 2015
GUATEMALA UPDATE CONTINUED:
In February we held our first Pastors training
conference. Originally invites were sent to 12 pastors, we had 25 in attendance. After being invited to preach in 6 different churches, we were witness to the power of the spirit to grant much conviction and repentance. God also provided opportunities each day with civic leaders and the general public for the preaching of the gospel. The word is opening the ears of the people! PRAISE REPORT ON HOW LOCAL MINISTRIES THRIVE IN ANSWER TO PRAYERS:
we have seen the average
attendance go from single digits to over 30. Spiritual growth is happening in the lives of these people. They are hungry for the TRUTH of the scriptures.
