The two winners Saad Hamid and Awais Imran were triumphant for their ideas
titled 60 second education project and Learning a new language using Mobile
ICT respectively.

Their idea Bipod Barta allows instant notification to law enforcing agency and
family members during danger or emergency and filing legal complaint regarding
any crime using a mobile phone, said a press release.
The ideas and the people who made it to the finale are Bipod Barta (Safa
Tasneem and Sami Tahsin from IBA), Shurokkha (Sumayea Tabassum and Adel
Mostaque Ahmed from IBA), Bat Book (Debojit Saha and Mohammed Masudur
Rahman from IBA), Voice Box (Rageeb Kibria and Rumana Rafiq Ullah from North
South University) and Craft Store (Ayman Sadiq and Ryan Fardin Sakib from IBA).

The news of schoolboys' trip of death, which took place at Mirsarai upazila in
Chittagong, shocked us very much. pathos visited the nooks and crannies of
Mirsarai upazila after one year passed by since the Mirsarai Tragedy that claimed
45 lives including 43 school students, a year ago on July 11. Depending on
various data provided by Police and other sources, average 30 percent death is
committed by road accident in Bangladesh .
There has been an alarming rise in road accidents, significantly highway
accidents, in Bangladesh over the past few years. According to a study
conducted by the Accident Research Centre (ARC) of BUET, road accidents claim
on average 12,000 lives annually and lead to about 35,000 injuries. According to
World Bank statistics, annual fatality rate from road accidents is found to be 85.6
fatalities per 10,000 vehicles. Hence, the roads in Bangladesh have become
deadly!

But these statistics, numerically shocking as they may be, fail to reflect the
social tragedy related to each life lost to road accidents. One accident that
remains afresh in my memory is the death of 44 school children last July, after
the truck they were travelling in skid and fell into a pond. 44 young dreams and
hopes lost due to reckless driving.
A proper estimation of the economic cost of lives taken by road accidents in
Bangladesh would surely reflect the considerable loss of addition to GDP.
According to WHO, the economic cost of road accidents to developing countries
is 2-3% of GDP. The thought crosses my mind, of those 44 and many other

children killed in road accidents over the years, how many doctors, engineers,
scientists, inventors and other future potential has the nation lost?
For years, drivers have been relying on their smartphones to tell them where to
go. Now, drivers can be told how safely they are getting there.

Can LifeSaver be unlocked in Emergencies?
Through the app settings, the Loved One can enable the Driver to have an
Emergency Unlock (Android) and 'Emergency Call' (iOS) features. If the
Driver uses these Emergency features while driving, the unlock is logged and
text notification is sent to the Loved One.
What if the Driver wants to use his/her LifeSaver-protected phone as a Passenger?
If the driver is a passenger they may use the Passenger Unlock feature. In
this case the phone remains unlocked for the duration of the trip, the unlock is
logged, and a text notification is sent to the Loved One monitoring the use or
abuse of this feature. Our studies show teens will rarely abuse this feature as
parents are very aware of when the teen is driving and when they are not. If
the feature is abused the parent can remove the capability to do passenger
unlocks.
How fast does LifeSaver lock and unlock?
The phone will be locked when driving as quickly as 3-4 seconds. When you
stop driving, LifeSaver can unlock just as quickly, or it can be configured to
unlock up to 60 seconds after driving to discourage phone access at
stoplights. With LifeSaver Music (iPhone) in addition to unlocking the devices
there is a pause feature to determine how quickly to stop playing the music
after the drive stops.
Can LifeSaver be disabled by the Driver? What if they turn off GPS?
If the Driver disables GPS, LifeSaver will send the Loved One a notification
that this has occurred. This is another example of the monitoring aspects of
LifeSaver.
Do I need a data plan for LifeSaver to work?

The app requires GPS to work properly on your device and location. In most
cases the Driver must have a data plan for LifeSaver to work. You should plan
on upgrading for a data plan prior to running LifeSaver.

dynamic displacement responses of large civil engineering structures under
winds. However, multipath effects and low sampling frequencies affect the
