    Ocean County not only is the
    most dangerous place to live in the

    Magazine this summer its now
    been declared the sixth-worst place in
    the nation to purchase a home by The
    Weather Channel.
    Thats upset the Board of Freeholders, who have taken these reports rather
    personally.
    At an agenda meeting last week, Freeholder John C. Bartlett Jr. admonished
    the national cable and satellite channel
    to just focus on getting its weather forecasts right.
    The five-member, all-Republican
    board also issued a formal statement
    calling the distinction disappointing,
    irresponsible and incredibly disingenuous.
    On its website, The Weather Channel
    published a list of Worst Places To Own
    A Home: The 50 Worst Counties For
    Homeowners, Based On Natural Factors.
    Ocean County made the top 10 after
    Orleans Parish, Louisiana; Hancock
    County, Mississippi; Harrison County,
    Mississippi; Jackson County, Mississippi; and Cameron Parish, Louisiana. Parishes are what Louisiana calls its counties.
    Ocean County, on the Jersey Shore
    due east of Philadelphia, is the most populous county in our top 10, with about
    580,000 residents, read the article, explaining that Ocean County sustained an
    estimated $10 billion in damage after superstorm Sandy on Oct. 29, 2012.

    TRENTON Are New Jersey colleges facing their


    day of reckoning when it comes to affordability and a
    trend of students not graduating on time?
    The state Assembly is at work on a 20-bill package
    that sponsors say is intended to address problems of
    New Jersey students leaving school with massive debt
    and too frequently without degrees.
    Legislation imposing price controls on tuition and
    fees was advanced in October over the protests of representatives of Rutgers University and other state
    schools. The proposal would permit incoming students
    to pay the same rate for nine semesters after they enroll. Future rate increases would affect each freshman
    class to follow, with new freeze rates implemented.
    Seven more bills were approved by the lower house
    last Thursday, including a measure especially creative
    at cutting costs: Four-year schools would be prohibited
    from requiring students to purchase meal plans.

    County sustained $10 billion in property damage from superstorm Sandy.
    Between 1996 and 2013, eight Ocean County residents have died while
    sheltered in their homes during extreme weather events or other natural
    disasters, including four people who either drowned or succumbed to hypothermia during superstorm Sandy.
    Ocean County faces a potential loss of life, property and jobs in the future
    from the risk of wildfires in the Pine Barrens.

    By early (Tuesday) morning, wind chills in Monmouth and Ocean counties will be in the upper teens,
    said Kristin Kline, a meteorologist in the National
    Weather Service Mount Holly office.
    Wind chills for Wednesday morning they are going to be in the single digits, she said. Basically, its
    going to feel more like January rather than November.
    Lows on Wednesday morning likely will be around 17
    to 19 in interior sections of Monmouth and Ocean coun and
    20 to21closer to the coast, according to Kline.
    It
    ties
    will be the coldest air of the season in the region, resulting in near-record lows, according to the weather service.
    The arctic cold is coming down from Canada, and
    winds Tuesday will be around 15 to 25 mph, gusting to 30
    mph, according to experts. But no snow is on the horizon, as it was expected to be dry following Mondays
