Microchip Advanced Parts Selector (MAPS)
There are two flavors of the MAPS program, Online and Offline.
www.microchip.com
www.microchip.com/maps
MAPS online displays real-time product information and is available directly from the
main website, www.microchip.com. On the upper left navigation block, you can
begin using the tool by clicking the link, Help Me Select a Part!. There is also a
link from the Product Selection Tools page which you can click to from the upper
navigation block or type the redirect: www.microchip.com/maps
From the Product Selector Tools page, just click the icon or the link to MAPS
Online which again starts the online tool

Identical in code and layout, MAPS offline is a snapshot of MAPS Online that can
be used standalone on a PC without requiring to be linked to the web. Express
Views, BOM Crusher, and other features of the offline version will be discussed in
the second tutorial. If you dont have online capability, the best course of action
would be to contact your local microchip representative to send you a CD or USB of
the file. Otherwise, just open your browser to the main website and click on the link,
Product Selection Tools or, as before, use the redirect.
The Product Selection Tools page is the product selection archives for printed and
electronic tools. Scroll down to the title, Electronic Media for the downloadable file.
Notice the filename includes the version number and release date. This is extremely
useful in verifying the latest copy on your PC.
To download, click on the link and a screen will appear asking you to open or
save the file. Click Save and put it on the desktop.

To verify the uninstall, the start menu and desktop shortcuts shouldve been deleted

In the event that the uninstall is not available or was not included in a version (like
MAPS v.2.3.1), simply remove the version folder manually from the C:\Program
Files\MAPS directory and delete any shortcuts created.

Another nice thing about the patch update is that it runs silently in the background.
Assuming this prompt comes up during start-up, click Yes.
An update icon will appear on the bottom-right of your windows screen in the
Taskbar as it performs the install.
When it is complete, the icon disappears.
You can also check for updates manually at any time.
To do this, start the MAPS program and click Updates from the top menu bar. If
one is available, youll see one of two prompts as mentioned.
