CDCA Structure Maintenance 2014
For many of the Churchill Downs Community Association members it has been a busy summer.
Member Kathy Tobe helped write a grant to provide maintenance on the brick entryway structures
into our neighborhood. With the Lansing Neighborhood Councils assistance, we were awarded
a grant in the amount of $350.00. CDCA President Mike Redding and board member at large
Larry McConnell have worked diligently throughout the summer improving the appearance of
the structures.

CDCA Structure Maintenance- continued-
Mike and Larry power washed each of the six structures. They next painted
each of the structures. Member Joe Price gave assistance with the painting.
Secretary Veda Dove Washington, worked on adding dirt to the planters and put
in different flowers and plants. The brick structures will also have a solar
powered light attached at the top.
The sign area on the stone structures on Waverly and Kentfield Drive, have
wooden stained and weather proofed bases with metal signs with the Churchill
Downs logo, designed and produced by C P Signs of Lansing. These metal signs
will be mounted on the wood forms to create an outline on the stone structures.
Thanks to the hard work of a few of our neighbors, we can be proud of how our
entrance structures look.
NOTE FROM PRESIDENT REDDING
As some of you know it has been a very busy Churchill Downs Association
Summer for me. Our entrance ways have been repainted, re-flowered, and re-
signed. A great big thank you goes to Larry McConnell for giving up his
weekends to help me with many projects this summer. Also, thanks go out to
Kathy, Veda and Joe for their help with making our entrance ways inviting. I
was also lucky to meet many new neighbors during that project. I also sent time
learning about our feral cat problem and working with the CAHS to participate
in the Catch and Release program. We set traps in two areas and successfully
caught two males that were neutered and re-released. If you have questions,
please contact me. Lets have a great Fall.
