Instructions for applying CP620

fhrungsschild
Application
14 Prepare dispenser and cartridges as shown above. The fire
seal from the first few strokes of the dispenser should be
discarded until the fire seal in the mixer has a constant red
colour.
5 Apply the CP 620 in the opening.
When dispensed slowly, the fire seal escaping from the
mixer is already slightly expanded. This makes it easier to
build up the fire seal.
When dispensed quickly, the consistency of the fire seal
is more liquid. The fire seal then flows better between the
cables.
Begin applying CP 620 at the back of the opening and
then work towards the front.
Note: The fire seal becomes warm for a short time after
application. Fill the opening completely with CP 620
Expanding Fire Seal.
6 For maintenance reasons, a penetration seal can be
permanently marked with an installation plate. In such
cases, mark the installation plate and fasten it in a visible
position next to the seal.
Re-installing cables or pipes
I Additional cables or pipes can be installed later without
difficulty.
I Use a suitable tool to create an opening (screwdriver, drill bit
etc.). Push the cable or pipe through and then seal the
remaining opening carefully with CP 620.
Notes
I The extension pipe can be fitted when working on difficult-to-
reach openings.
I The fire seal can be cut back to no less than the minimum
specified installed depth.
I Pieces of cured fire seal which have been cut off can be laid
in the next opening and fresh fire seal applied around these.
Framing (Thickness of wall less than 145 mm)
When the wall has a thickness of less than 145mm and a 2
hours fire rating is required, a frame of plasterboard strips must
be attached around the opening in order to achieve a fire seal
depth of 145 mm (minimum wall thickness 120 mm).
Example 120 mm drywall thickness:
The height of the strips forming the frame must be selected so
that the fire seal has a thickness of12.5mm either side of the
installation thus achieving 145mm overall thickness of CP 620.
Notice about approvals
When making a seal using Hilti CP 620 Expanding Fire Seal,
national approvals must be observed in general. Please refer to
them for restrictions.
Not for use
I Exposed to weather.
I Exposed to UV.
Safety precautions
I Wear protective goggles, protective gloves and protective
clothing when working.
I Keep out of reach of children.
I Request a copy of the EC safety data sheet and observe the
information it contains.
Storage
Store only in the original packaging in a dry place at a
temperature of +5C to +25C. After finishing the job, partly-
used cartridges can be stored with mixer screwed on until they
are required again. When used the next time, only the mixer has
to be replaced.
Not just for gaps, a fire seal for all kinds of
service penetrations.
Tested and approved.
The construction materials class (f.e. B1)
does not tell anything about the function
of the installed product in case of fire.
This is the approval that PU fire rated
foams have. CP620 on the other hand
has been tested for several different
applications. The CP620 fire rating for
cable and pipes is up to 2 hours. If
required we can make the corresponding
test reports and approvals available for
you.
An innovative Hilti development.
The special expansion technology of the
fire seal developed by Hilti does not
require any additional firestop coating
other products very often require this
coating. No firestop coating is needed
neither on the surface of the expanding
fire seal or the cables!
