SCHEDULED EVENTS FOR THE WOODBRIDGE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 50

TH
REUNION
September 12 & 13, 2014
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2014
OLD WOODBRIDGE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL (NOW WOODBRIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL)
All of these events are open to the public and by all means, plan to bring family and guests. The
events are free but tickets to the football game are $6. Yes, there will be a lot of people, but if we plan
for that and embrace the bigness of this event with so many people wanting to celebrate the
amazing 50 Years of WSHS, we can make this huge event memorable for the right reasons.
3:30 P.M. 5:00 P.M. GATHERING AT THE OLD WSHS This is mainly designed for the students that
attended the Original WSHS and the staff that worked there but all are welcome. It is a chance to walk
the hallways of your old school and see many of the students, teachers and staff that were there with
you. There will be an informal 30 minute slideshow in the auditorium of pictures from just the 10 years
that this school was Woodbridge Senior High School. This slideshow will run 3 times and will also be
available at the Open House at WSHS on Saturday. As with every other event this weekend, parking will
be an issue. The lot is small so please carpool and you may have to park on the street. I could not get
shuttle buses for this event since I cant get school buses until after 4 pm. No refreshments will be
available here as we will be headed for the tailgate at WSHS after we finish with this event.
4 PM TAILGATE and Football game to follow at the NEW WSHS
THIS IS A NO ALCOHOL EVENT!! Also No Smoking!
There will be very limited parking at WSHS for this event. Plan to park at the commuter parking lots at
Tacketts Mill and take one of our shuttle buses to WSHS. After the lots at WSHS are full, we will still be
allowing vehicles to enter and drop off passengers and tailgate equipment but the driver will have to
exit the lot and find a space and walk or go to the commuter lot and take the bus. We are allowing 2
reserved parking places in the student parking lot for each class in order for them to bring in tables,
chairs, tents etc. and also a place for others to store chairs during the football game. Please get
organized and figure out who these people will be and let me know at [email protected]. Once
these two spaces are used up, it will be strictly drop off and drive the car off school grounds for parking.
There will be 16 buses running between the school and the commuter lots. My goal is to have buses
waiting on people rather than people waiting on buses. Please be aware that traffic is normally bad
around WSHS on any Friday afternoon and I am pretty sure it will be even worse due to our event even
though we will have police working the intersections at the high school. The buses will take people back
to the commuter lots after the game until everyone has been taken care of.
You may bring your own food to the tailgate or make it easy on yourselves and plan to buy your food
from the Athletic Boosters and support WSHS. They will have three stands around the outsides of the
tailgate selling drinks, hot dogs, hamburgers, Chik fil A, and a special pulled pork barbecue sandwich
while it lasts. Please plan to bring cash to this event and not all BIG bills, if possible. There will be 50
Years of WSHS programs for sale as well as the scanned pages of all WSHS yearbooks on DVDs from
1965 through 2009. The cost of these DVDs is $15 for each yearbook or $50 for all 4 years. You can write
a check for these to the Viking Athletic Booster Club. Please support WSHS!!!
We will have entertainment from a 60s Band featuring musicians who played for the WSHS dances with
such bands as Rot and the DKs, The King Cobras, The Roulettes and The London Stompers. There will
also be a DJ, 1978 WSHS graduate, Carl Fisher spinning tunes from all 50 Years of WSHS. ENJOY!
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2014
9:30 AM 11:30 AM Alunni Soccer Game on game field (weather permitting) This is a coed game,
open to all former WSHS Boys or Girls Soccer players and coaches. All are welcome to come and watch.
NOON - THE EVENT WILL OPEN TO GUESTS. SLIDE SHOWS WILL BE PRESENTED THROUGHOUT THE
BUILDING. ROOMS TO BE ANNOUNCED.
Once again, parking will be an issue at school although we will have the tailgate area to park in for this
event. Once the school parking is filled, including Old Bridge Elementary School next door and Lake
Ridge Middle across the street, plan to go to the commuter lots at Tacketts Mill and catch the shuttle
bus to the school. The shuttles will begin running at 11:30 A.M. and will run until everyone is back at
their vehicles. If you wish to leave early, the buses will take you back when you are ready to leave.
Because of the crowded conditions in the WSHS parking lots, the shuttle buses will be dropping off at
the bus loop of Old Bridge Elementary School which is next to WSHS. If we fill all of the spaces at
Tacketts Mill, we will be using the BIG Commuter Lot on Telegraph Rd. that stretches towards I-95. We
will have 16 buses running again to get you back and forth. Our goal is to have buses waiting on people
not people waiting on buses.
I am asking that staff and retired staff please plan to be in the area where they worked from noon until
1:30, if possible, so that former students can find you and connect with you. After 1:30, you are free to
roam the building to see what else is out there. There is not a formal program with speeches and stuff. I
have found that at events like this, most people want to talk with each other rather than have someone
make speeches. The closest we will get to a formal speech will be when we all get together for the
picture. There will be food available, again from the Boosters as a fund raiser, but there will not be a
formal lunch. Many groups are planning gatherings for dinner on their own after the Open house.
Noon 3 pm DJ in upper cafeteria playing music from the last 50 years along with a slideshow of
pictures from the 50 Years of WSHS. A place to take a break, have a seat, eat a snack or dance to the
beat.

with Alumni Orchestra members.
1:00 5:00 P.M. ALUMNI ART SHOW IN THE LIBRARY 1

1:30 ALUMNI CHORUS IN THE AUDITORIUM A brief performance by the WSHS Choras along with
Alumni Orchestra members.
2:30 DANCE CLASS Performance in Auditorium - WSHS offers a class in Dance and the students, despite
this only being the second week of school will have a brief performance just to get you interested to
come back later in the year to see them really perform.
3:00 P.M. IN THE STADIUM. PERFORMANCES BY THE CHEERLEADERS, MARCHING BAND AND THE
VIKETTES. At 3 pm We are trying to get everyone out to the stadium (weather permitting) for a
gigantic picture of 50 Years of WSHS Vikings. I am expecting over 5,000 people so we will need to pack
the home stands. The staff will be front and center with all of the thousands of alumni surrounding
them. You dont want to miss out on this. Plan to be there for this.
3:45 P.M. PHOTO OF ALL ATTENDEES AT THE STADIUM staff will be front and center surrounded by
thousands of alumni and parents, so get out there and make sure that you are in the picture.
4 P.M. 6 P.M. The Open House will continue after the picture for anything that you may have missed.
Shuttle buses will be available to take you back to your car when you are ready to leave.
4:15 P.M. 60S BAND PERFORMANCE IN THE AUDITORIUM These are the guys who played many of the
dances at WSHS back in the 1960s and early 1970s. Come and enjoy their music!!
6 PM 50 Years of WSHS is over and we are starting the next 50 years. Shuttle buses will bring people
back to their cars until everyone is taken care of. Thank you for being a part of this amazing event!
