HP appreciates and values your business. We are writing to inform you of an upcoming end of life (EOL) on the HP EVA P6350 and P6550 Storage systems.
The EVA P6350 and P6550 systems will no longer be orderable after January 31, 2014. Customers who have purchased EVA P6350 and P6550 storage systems can obtain support until January 31, 2019, 5 years after the obsolescence date. Customers may purchase additional hardware and software upgrades until January 31, 2017.
Table 1 below summarizes the various milestones during this EOL period, which starts with September 12, 2013 and extends to January 31, 2019.
Please be assured that HP remains committed to providing you with long term investment protection. To honor that, HP will continue to invest in EVA P6000 Storage to insure that add-on disk drives, disk drive enclosures, and software are available for future expansion, up to three years after EVAs last sales date. In addition, in the past month HP introduced a new 4TB SAS drive for EVA P6000 Storage for increased application consolidation and in the near future will add VAAI UNMAP support for better integration with VMware.
OS support on the HP EVA HP will continue to qualify major new operating system releases (Windows, VMware, Linux, and HP-UX) until January 31, 2015 to ensure HP EVA Storage will run in your environment. Targeted support will include, but is not limited to, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7, Microsoft Windows 2012 R2, HP-UX Fusion 11iv3, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 12. HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 : The next generation EVA Customers with EVA systems older than the P6350 and P6550 are strongly recommended to migrate to the new HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage.
HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage was announced in December 2012 and has received unprecedented market adoption to-date. The 3PAR StoreServ 7000 series brings Tier-1 capabilities to the midrange and provides customers with significantly higher performance and scalability while incorporating the ease of use features that many EVA customers expect from their storage.
3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage incorporates additional ease of use features specifically for EVA customers. Two examples of this are HP 3PAR SmartStart and HP EVA to 3PAR Online Import.
HP 3PAR SmartStart installation gets you up and running in six quick and easy steps. HP EVA to 3PAR Online Import software allows existing EVA customers to quickly and easily move data to HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage using Command View EVA. In fact with Online Import, moving from EVA to 3PAR is easier than moving from EVA to EVA. Once migrated to 3PAR StoreServ, customers can store all data on a single system that supports advanced features including storage federation, thin provisioning, and automated tiering, which enables you to start small and grow without disruption. More information on the HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage can be found at www.hp.com/go/3PAR.
