SIMPLE PRESENT

We used the simple present to talk about things in general


The simple present can also be used to refer to a future action or event,
espcially actions that will take place in the future as part of a plan or
Schedule.



Estructure:

SUBJECT + Verb in Simple Form + Complement
(Infinitive)

Example.
I writte with my right hand
I usually leave for work at 8.00 A.M
I always get up early


We use do/does to make questions and negative sentences


Example:

I come from Canada. Where do you come from?
Would you like a cigarette? No, thanks. I dont smoke.
What does this word mean? (not What means this word?
Rice doesnt grow in cold climates

NOTE:
Remember that we say he/she/ it . Don`t forget the s :
I work .. but He works
They theach but My sister teaches

Do I/we/you/they work?
Does he/she/it come?
do?
I/we/you/they dont work
he/she/it doesnt come

we use the simple present when we say how often we do things:

I get up at 8.00 every morning
How often do you go to the dentist?
Sara doesnt drink coffee very often
In the summer John usually plays tennis once or twice a week








PRESENT PROGRESSIVE OR CONTINUOUS

We use the present progressive to refer to actions or events that are in
progress at the momen of speaking
The present progressive may also be ued to refer to future events or actions in
order to give them an even greater sense of immediacy


Estructure:

SUBJECT +Verb TO BE + Verb in Simple Form + ING + Complement
(Infinitive)

Example:

The train is leaving (now)
Look! Whats that man doing?
Are you coming tomorrow?
Im having a dinner with bill this evening


NOTE:
The position of always/never/usually etc. (before main the verb):

Sue always looks happy
I never drink coffee at night
What time do you usually get home after work?


We used the present progressive when we talk about things happening in a period
around now( for example , today/this week/tonight etc.)

You are working hard today? Yes, I have a lot to do
Is Sara working today? No, she`s on vacation

hard most of the time.
