Skirt Block Exercise Part 2
1. Go to Measure function>Clear all measurements
2. You will see all measurements disappear from the screen
TRACING BACK AND FRONT SKIRT FROM BLOCK 3. Go to Create Piece>Trace
4. Select all Perimeter Lines, on BK SKT to Trace(Waist, Side Seam, Hem, and Centre Back lines)>Click OK
5. Select all internal Lines to Trace(both dart legs and grain line)>Click OK
6. Enter Piece name> STUDNAM-SKTBLK-BK>SAVE
7. Use the same function with the SKTBLK-FRT>select Perimeter>Click OK
8. Select internal lines(both dart legs and grain line)>Click OK>Save> Student-SKTBLK-FRT
9. Enter Piece name STUDNAM-SKTBLKFRT>Save
OPENING THE WAIST DARTS 10. Go to Line>Modify>Split Line @ waist both ends of Darts on FRT and BK
11. Select points on Waist that you want to split>Click OK
12. Go to Line>Swap Line
13. Select the internal Lines that you want to swap>Click OK
14. Select the perimeter Line >Click OK, do the same function with FRT SKT
15. Go to Line>Modify> Combine Merge Lines>Select both legs of Dart>Click OK
You will see the small triangle at the tip of the dart disappear, it means that the line is one, do all darts one by one
FOLDING WAIST DARTS 16. Go to Piece> Dart> Fold Close Dart>select darts one at the time>Click OK
17. Prompt> Enter a distance to Drill Hole>1.5cm>CLICK OK
The Perimeter line of the dart will became dotted, a drill hole will appear at 1.5 distance from the original tip, use the same function for the rest of the darts, on FRT and BK one by one. MIRROR C.FRT. SKIRT 18. Go to Piece>Mirror Piece>Prompt>Select a Line
19. Select the Centre Front of the skirt>Click OK
You will see the Centre FRT Line of the SKT to become dotted
ADD SEAM ALLOWANCE 20. Go to Piece>Seam>Define Add Seam>
21. Select the waist and the Side Seam Lines>Click OK
22. Enter the amount for seam allowance for those lines>1cm>Click OK
23. Select the Hem line>Click OK>Type 2.5cm>Click OK
You will see a 2.5cm seam allowance appear at the Hem line, use the same function with the BK SKT, apply 1cm to waist, side seam, and centre back.
24. Go to Piece>Seam>Swap Sew/Cut
25. Select FT and BK>Click OK, you will see the dotted line inside.
26. Go To Edit> SAVE AS>, make sure that your pieces are saved in J DRIVE BAY2 with the correct name, category and description; STUDNAM-SKTBLK-FT, and STUDNAM-SKTBLK-BK
