judging

To judge: to discern; to make manifest; to sift; to reprove.

A judge does different things—determines guilt or innocence, whether

someone needs to be reprimanded, reproved, punished, executed, or banished;
whether mercy should be shown or not, is someone sorrowful about what they did
wrong. Makes manifest the truth in a matter.
We and all men make judgments continually about all things. We sit in the
place of a judge—All things are full of judgment—Some make good judgments, some
make bad judgments. We can be a righteous judge or an unjust judge.
Says of Yahveh—He is our Judge. (Isaiah 33:22) Also says of Him true and
righteous are Thy judgments. (Revelations 19:2) He is the source of true and
righteous judgment. He is a Judge on His throne, and all things are subject to His
judgment. We need to trust the judgments He’s given us in His Word, and not lean
on our own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5)

Hebrews 4:12,13 “For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than
any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of
the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are]
naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
Use His Word to judge to the core—all things made manifest by it. (Is this a sheep or
a wolf? Deceit or truth? Light or dark? Holy or profane?)
Bad judgment, or refusal to judge ourselves and others rightly, can be fatal;
physically and spiritually.

Accounts of Yahveh’s Judgment

1 Kings 3:16-28 “Then came there two women, [that were] harlots, unto the king,
and stood before him.
17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I
was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was
delivered also: and we [were] together; [there was] no stranger with us in the house,
save we two in the house.
19 And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine
handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but
when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.
22 And the other woman said, Nay; but the living [is] my son, and the dead [is] thy
son. And this said, No; but the dead [is] thy son, and the living [is] my son. Thus they
spake before the king.
23 Then said the king, The one saith, This [is] my son that liveth, and thy son [is] the
dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son [is] the dead, and my son [is] the living.
24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half
to the other.
26 Then spake the woman whose the living child [was] unto the king, for her bowels
yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no
wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, [but] divide [it].
27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it:
she [is] the mother thereof.
28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared
the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God [was] in him, to do judgment.”
Solomon had to judge a matter. He judged righteous judgment, manifested the
deceiver from the true.

Luke 7:36-50 “And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And
he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that [Jesus]
sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind [him] weeping, and began to wash his feet with
tears, and did wipe [them] with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and
anointed [them] with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw [it], he spake within himself,
saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of
woman [this is] that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee.
And he saith, Master, say on.
41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred
pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me
therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that [he], to whom he forgave most. And he
said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I
entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed
my feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased
to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with
ointment.
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved
much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.
48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this
that forgiveth sins also?
50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.”
Simon was rightly judging the parable but wrongly judging what was going on with
the woman. Yeshua’s parable manifested the true and accurate judgment of the
woman and also judged Simon. One loved much and the other little. Simon was
despising the one that should have been praised—bad judgment. Yeshua’s good
judgment set things in true perspective.

John 7:24 “Judge not according to appearance but judge righteous judgment.”
Isaiah 11:3 “And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and
he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his
ears:”
Yeshua shall not judge after the sight of his eyes. Professing Christians don’t
understand this matter. They say, “Don’t judge.” “You can’t judge my heart.” When
they say “don’t judge,” they are making a judgment that judging is something you
ought not to do. They are hypocrites: judging you, saying you’re judging. We don’t
say, “Don’t judge.” We say, “Judge righteous judgment.”

1 Corinthians 2:15 “But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is
judged of no man.”
He that is spiritual is a judge of all matters, in accordance with the Word.
Matthew 7:1-5 “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge,
ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you
again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest
not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me
pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam [is] in thine own eye? Thou
hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see
clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.”
Professing Christians misunderstand verses about not judging. Here Yeshua is
speaking against hypocritical judgment.

Luke 18:9-14 “And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves
that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple
to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am
not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I
fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes
unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [rather] than the other:
for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself
shall be exalted.”

Romans 2:1-3,17-23 “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art
that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou
that judgest doest the same things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is
according to truth against them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O
man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt
escape the judgment of God?”
“Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of
God, And knowest [his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being
instructed out of the law; And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind,
a light of them which are in darkness, An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes,
which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. Thou therefore which
teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not
steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou
commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? Thou that
makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?”
Hypocrisy brings blasphemy against Elohiym. The point is not that we shouldn’t cry
out against sin, but that we should teach ourselves first.

Judgment in the Church

1 Corinthians 5:1-6 “It is reported commonly [that there is] fornication among you,
and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one
should have his father's wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned,
that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. For I verily,
as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were
present, [concerning] him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord
Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that
the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your glorying [is] not good.
Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?”
Paul judged a soul for his deed as being wicked and worthy to be put out. Vs 2
Judged church puffed up. Vs 6 Judging their pride not good. Vs 9-13 If someone is
judged as such, i.e., a fornicator, etc., we’re not to eat with them. Vs 12 We don’t
dish out punishments to those outside the church—Although we can often judge their
deeds and state, we don’t determine their punishment, but Elohiym. Vs 13 So
seeing we can dish judgment to those within—not eat with them. Put away.
Paul was a judge. He judged some worthy of reproof, one to be put out of the
church. [Others he judged worthy of honor.]
Peter, in the account of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11), had grown into a
dreadful judge. Death by the mouth of Peter.

1 Corinthians 6:1-11 “Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law
before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall
judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to
judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much
more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things
pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I
speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not
one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goeth to law
with brother, and that before the unbelievers. Now therefore there is utterly a
fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather
take wrong? why do ye not rather [suffer yourselves to] be defrauded? Nay, ye
do wrong, and defraud, and that [your] brethren. Know ye not that the
unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither
fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of
themselves with mankind,
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit
the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are
sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of
our God.”

1 Corinthians 4:3,4 “But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of
you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by
myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.”
The Word is what matters in judging, not what the carnal mind thinks. Nor what we
think, but Elohiym.

Romans 16:17,18 “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions
and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For
they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good
words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”
Have to be able to judge. Mark/judge sound doctrine from false.
A judgment of what we’re supposed to do: Mark and avoid, once we judged
them as such. Also judge them: they don’t serve Yeshua, but their bellies. (This is all
about judgment)
Our walk—why we do what we do—is because Elohiym has already given us
His judgments. We’re just agreeing with His judgment.

Philippians 3:17-19 “Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which
walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (For many walk, of whom I have told you
often, and now tell you even weeping, [that they are] the enemies of the cross of
Christ: Whose end [is] destruction, whose God [is their] belly, and [whose] glory [is]
in their shame, who mind earthly things.)”
Mark—discern, judge—those who walk as Paul, those who don’t. (tells their end)

1 John 4:1 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of
God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
Judge the spirits.

Revelation 2:2 “I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou
canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are
apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:”
Judged—found them liars.

1 John 2:3-6 “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his
commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a
liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love
of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him
ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.”
How we’re to judge: Does he walk as Yeshua walked? Nevermind that, he says he’s
in the Lord—knows and loves the Lord. What’s he doing? Actions.
We need good judgment so we don’t get taken by liars.

Matthew 7:15,16 “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men
gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?”
Judge—grapes, pears, bananas—banana tree! Thorn bush! Wolf! Liar! Brother! Sister!

Mark 4:18,19 “And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the
word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of
other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.”
How they receive the seed (the Word of Elohiym: Mark 4:14) manifests the ground.
Can judge: good ground, thorny ground, honest heart, dishonest.
Testimony of a man who was trying to justify himself saying, “Elohiym knows
my heart”—but he was opposing the Word. (Dishonest)

1 John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any
man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
A judgment. Cut and dry.

Isaiah 28:17(16) “Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the
plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall
overflow the hiding place.”
Prophecy of Yeshua the Tried Stone. All naked. No place to hide. Truth exposes,
flushes people out of fox hole of deceit—who are His disciples and who are not. All
the lines have been drawn. If we take on Elohiym’s judgments, we’ll have His
judgment in matters.

Titus 3:10,11 “A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.”
Judged as an heretick. Reject.

2 John 1:9,10 “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ,
hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and
the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into
[your] house, neither bid him God speed:”
Don’t receive. Reject. Judge good doctrine, bad doctrine—brother, false brother.

Luke 16:15 “And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before
men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is
abomination in the sight of God.”
Had the judgment to see through them. Though they justified themselves, he saw
them as an abomination. Judged them for what they were.

Titus 3:2,3 “To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, shewing all
meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient,
deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and]
hating one another.”
Not to despise and exalt ourselves against others in judgment (judging them). We
were lost once ourselves—be merciful. Be mindful of our weaknesses and faults, lest
we be hypocrites and pass bad judgment.

Habakkuk 3:2 “O LORD, I have heard thy speech, [and] was afraid: O LORD, revive
thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath
remember mercy.”
Need mercy in our judgment—not just wrath and indignation.
Not judging by the sight of our eyes and hearing of ears. May not see the whole
picture. May not have heard all the facts.

Luke 6:36 “Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.”

Be ye merciful.

James 2:13 “For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy;
and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.”
Mercy rejoices against judgment.
Paul was persecuting the church unto death (Acts 22:4), but he was not
judged worthy of death—but of mercy. He obtained mercy because he did it
ignorantly in unbelief. (1 Timothy 1:13) (Elohiym rightly judged.)
But mercy is not always the good judgment.
