CHECK ENGINE BAY
No oil leaks from engine or gearbox
Engine mounts are secure
All fluid levels satisfactory
All drive & fan belts are satisfactory
All radiator hoses are satisfactory
CHECK SEAT-BELTS and MIRRORS
Fitted correctly to mount
Minimal surface abrasions
External rear-vision mirrors are angled correctly
Internal rear-vision mirrors ensure clear views of the
road
VENTILATION SYSTEMS
Air-conditioning is operable
Heating system is operable
Ventilation passageways are clean
VEHICLE LIGHTS and REFLECTORS
Test headlights
Test turn signals (left/right)
Test brake/tail lights
Test reverse buzzers
Test amber beacons
Number plate lighting is directed onto plate surface
UNDER BODY CHASSIS and FRAMES
No cracks or loose welds
No debris stuck beneath vehicle
TOWBALL and HITCH
Evaluate towball & hitch and replace if necessary
Trailer wires are secure and in operable state
Complicit with AS D18-1968, AS/NZS 4177.2-1994, or
ISO S 3853 and 110
TYRES and RIMS
Inspect each tyre & rim for cracking and signs of wear
Check tyre pressure and suitability for vehicle
EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST TEST and OBSERVE
DOGS and CHAINS
TICK, CROSS or N/A
Inspect for cracked, broken or worn components
Ensure Integrity of chain linkage
D-SHACKLES & SAFETY CHAINS
Compliant with Working Load Limits, Manufactures ID
marks, grade of shackle material and batch marking
Inspect for wear and damage
D-Shackles compliant with AS/NZS 2741
Safety Chains compliant with AS/NZS 4177.4 or AS
4177.42002
HAND RATCHET & WEBBING STRAPS
Inspect all surfaces of hand ratchet for damage
Straps are inspected for abrasions to its surface
Units must be replaced units every three years
SYNTHETIC ROPES
Ensure synthetic rope is colour coded when restraining
loads
Inspect length of synthetic rope for damage and wear
Must comply with AS/NZS 4345
CRANES & WINCHES
Review scheduled service dates
Secure in mount with no signs of defect
Fluid levels are satisfactory
TOWING SAFETY CLIPS
No damage or abrasions to clips
Must have a visual indicator confirming fit for use
