PWC - 5 Lessons To Drive Innovation
Over 18,000 people participated in these efforts, providing over 2,500 unique ideas. Of these, PwC leaders have identified 300 for implementation and have put 72 already into place. The ideas have ranged from small efficiency gains to large strategic changes. For example, a suggestion from fourth-year staff member has become the basis and foundation for PwCs marketing initiatives in 2010 which aimed to increase the firms opportunity pipeline by 50% in 60 days. We wouldve been nowhere near those 72 significant improvements in a collective of these areas had we not opened it up to our people, said Best. Through this process, Best identified five key lessons that made PwCs push for innovation a success: Dont discount anybody. Innovation can come from anyone, anywhere. People want to be engaged and empowered. Let them know they can make a difference and give them the reins. Collaboration rocks. Create environments where people can coalesce together and collaborate. Organize mini-organizations around centers of gravity and employee interests. Keep leaders involved. Their involvement lets employees know your innovation efforts are sincere, not just lip service. Celebrate them. Recognize employees and reward them in meaningful ways for having the courage to put ideas out there.
PwCs efforts at creating a continuous innovation model have led to accelerated growth and revenue. Along the way, their work to collaborate with and empower employees helped create an even greater place to work.
