Keep your liquids on the proper ight path: The new security regulations

In accordance with the new security regulations, only limited quantities of liquids may be taken on board in your hand luggage. The information and suggestions in this yer are intended to help you make the necessary preparations for your journey and eliminate any remaining uncertainties. As before, any items you purchase after passing through passport control may be taken on board in your hand luggage (travellers to the USA: please refer to the special regulations overleaf). We wish you a very pleasant stay at Zurich Airport.

Enjoy shopping before take-off!


Prior to passport control Liquids are restricted to a maximum of 100 ml and have to be packed in a transparent, resealable 1-litre plastic bag. Purchases of liquids exceeding 100 ml have to be stowed in the baggage you hand over at check-in. After passport control After you have passed through passport control, however, no restrictions apply. Any items that contain uids will be sealed after they are purchased, so that you will not experience any difculty when you pass through the security check. > Regulations for travellers to the USA see below. Note for transfer passengers No restrictions apply to duty-free items that you purchase on board an EU or Swiss aircraft (e.g. Swiss International Air Lines) or during a stopover at Zurich Airport, as long as they are carried in a sealed bag. If you are travelling with another airline, however, please enquire about the applicable security regulations.

NEW: only limited quantities of liquids permitted in hand luggage Products that contain liquids, gels or similar substances may only be carried in hand luggage in quantities not exceeding 100 ml (or 1 decilitre).

Prepare yourself properly for check-in:


Do not carry more than you really need in your hand luggage The more items you pack in your checked-in baggage, the better. You should only take the most essential items on board with you. Dangerous items must not be carried in hand luggage (see dangerous goods list). Pack liquids in your checked-in baggage Wherever possible, items that contain liquids should be packed in the baggage you hand over at the check-in desk.

1-litre plastic bags are available from retail outlets everywhere. Important: plastic bags must be resealable (pressure or zip). Bags that are closed by means of string, rubber bands, etc., are prohibited.

Purchases made before you check in If you buy any items especially products that contain liquids before you check in, pack them in the baggage you hand over at the check-in desk. Special requirements Enquire whether your airline species any special security requirements. To make sure that you can commence your journey without any hassle, it is advisable to get to Zurich Airport 20 minutes earlier than usual. Security measures are renanced via passenger charges. The new measures are expected to result in adjustments to these charges.

Items that do not have to be carried in a separate plastic bag:


Medicaments and special foods that are required on board during the ight do not have to be carried in a plastic bag, e.g.: Baby foods for babies who are travelling Medicaments (e.g. insulin) Salt solutions (eye drops, etc.)

Reducing waiting times at security checks:


In order to pass through the security check quickly and smoothly, plastic bags, electronic devices, metal objects, keys, purses and wallets, mobile phones, jackets and coats should be placed in the trays provided at the security check. Please note: laptops must be taken out of their case and placed in a separate tray.
