Introduction One of great event in the American History which is still give a big influence until today is New Deal . New Deal is programs by President Franklin Delano Rosevelt in the 1930s to help the American society survive during the Great Depression.
The new deal ,in historical prespective ,represented a decisive movement away from reliance on a traditional laissez faire economy toward a mixed economy, with the goverment involvement in economic stabilization,social security ,and labor management relations, (Ratner ,1993:487)
New deal is an important innovation of the federal goverment in the 1930s was the development of programs deals with some of hazards of living and working in an industrial society.
Before the New Deal most thought of goverment as a kind of policeman. It was there just to keep order while the factory owners and bussinessmen got on with making the country richer.( OCallaghan ,1990: page 24)
The major effect of New deal on America was expanded government intervention into new areas of social and economic affairs. Furthermore, The relationship between the federal government and the people changed drastically. After the new deal, government took on a greater role in the everyday social and economic lives of the Americans. Then, for the first time in the history of America ,Roosevelt elected to be the president of America for third times/three decades (Garis besar sejarah Amerika ,page 301). In the politics ,the program proposed by Roosevelt (New Deal) established the Democrats becomes the majority party. (Faragher,1999: page 460) As we can see, in this era obama also makes a program of public services which is called as Obamacare. This term of public services usually dominant among the Democrat party . Even ,the program obamacare cannot be as success as
New Deal ,this program can be a comparison for the social services in America among in the era of New Deal(1930s) and today (2013) . In this paper, I choose the public services (Social Security and Health care) as the main issues to discuss. This is the statement why that issues also very important: Public-sector services (particularly in health care,social,and welfare) are central and controversial issue in American politics (Mauk ,2009:page 257). The contadictory of Public Services

Moreover , the public services also get opponents from Americans society because it is contradictory with the culture of American society who praised to the self reliance.
Most Americand did not approve of central goverment organizing too many of societys affairs and jealously proteccted their own independence. Politician avoided intervention in ,and the goverment spending on ,social help. (Mauk ,2009:page 253).
Mauk also stated in his book that the action to reduce public services also reflected through the era of President Reagan (1980-8) who tried to reduce the cost of public programs. Then ,The George bush administration (1988-92) attempted to reduce public spending ,but was forced to meet increased by tax rises. It got a lot of criticism from conservatives in Congress that it was just wasting

Moreover, when I try to compare the Obama approach to the FDR approach. I find that at that time FDR has a stong appeal to try everything to save the American society . Meanwhile , Barack Obama only want to be a good president especially for minorities . As we can see from book entitled American
Civilization ,the minorities especially black children or black woman quite hard to get a health insurance. As the african-American , I thought that Obama want to try his best to help those people.
Social security and Health care

Social security is the largest social services programs in the USA. (Mauk ,2009: page 257) This is one of programs which is still maintaining by Americans since the era of President FDR until this era of President Obama.
Social security originated in the 1935 Social Security Act. It is a social insurance program and covers one main area: The Old Age ,Survivors,Disability ,and Health insurance program(OASDHI). (Ibid,257)
Actually , the problem of social security and health care in America are based on questions of how to raise money to pay for the services . As we can see ,many workers in America feel unfair because they shoul pay higher taxes for other people needs. Most of Americans still believe that the social services is the responsibility of federal goverment. Nowadays ,The Obama administration is willing to gamble as FDR did with his New Deal, that this will give a benefits for all the Americans. If it is finally sucess, the Americans will eventually depend on Obamacare. Despite the success of New Deal,it also get a recession. Faragher et all stated in his book entitled Out of Many that America got deficit because of New Deals programs. Historically, the new depression after new deal can be recovery after the WW II. Meanwhile , how about the the deficit or depression after the Obamacare programs it is still questioning . After reading Washington Times ,I found that many Americans has been speculated that Obamacare will be ended or changed by the other programs because this programs tend to be fail.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it must be remarked that New Deal has been give a big influence to the relationship between the goverment and the society. The legacies of New Deal such as Social Security still gives effects to the Americans today. Then ,the public services in the America always cost the high taxes for the worker. The contradictory between who is the responsible for the public services is still continue in the American,but the Americans always believe that goverment must take a responsibility of public services. Meanwhile, The public services program by Obama cannot be the same level as New Deal by FDR because of different approach of that person. Moreover ,the speculating of Obamacare
ending still questiong even the program is tend to be fail .
