HYDRAULIC DRILLING JAR
EXTREME SERVICE FISHING JAR
This Griffith Vector fishing jar is an up-only
straight pull hydraulic jar. This tool is of heavy
duty design to ensure maximum durability and
jarring effect.
Durability of the jar is enhanced by a fully
lubricated spline drive which minimizes the internal

drag during jarring as well as greatly increasing

tool life.
Careful attention to seal selection and
position allows maximum utilization of material
strength and therefore provides high jarring
loads, long stroke, and large bores in a compact
overall tool size.

The design of the hydraulic chamber offers

several features that greatly enhance the tools
operating temperature range. The combination of
valve, meter and fluid gives a consistent time
delay throughout the operating temperature range
of the tool.
The jar is operated by applying an overpull to
fire the jar. Releasing weight allows the tool to
reset when it is ready for another jarring cycle.
This jarring cycle may be repeated as necessary.
The impact force can be varied from a light blow
to a heavy blow by varying the amount of overpull.
Full torque and circulation pressure may be
transmitted through the tool at all times.

FISHING JAR
The Griffith Vector fishing, coring and testing jar is
a straight pull hydraulic jar. The intensity of each
blow is under the complete control of the operator.
Full torque and circulation pressure may be
transmitted through the tool at all times.
The metering device used to control oil flow
during the hydraulic delay maintains a constant flow

rate, regardless of viscosity changes due to high

bottom hole temperature or continuous jarring.
Large resetting ports through the valve permit
unrestricted movement of the jar while closing or
resetting. This allows the efficient use of a bumper
sub, in conjunction with the jar, even if the jar is not
closed before bumping down.
