VISIT TO LPG PLANT
After the Hi-tea we visited the LPG plant where the crude sample being
extracted from the wells was being processed.
There were different lines coming from different wells amongst which, one
was linked with Tando-Alam
For the separation OF THE CRUDE into different components there were different
units installed.
• SEPARATOR UNIT
• STABILIZER UNIT
• CHILLING UNIT
• OIL STORAGE TANKS
• LPG STORAGE TANKS
SEPARATOR UNIT:-
This unit separates the crude into Oil, water and Gas. Water from there was
being sent to some injection wells.
Same was the case with the Gas.
The remaining component of oil was then sent to the STABILIZER UNIT.
STABILIZER UNIT:-
First Unit for the Stabilization was the DE-ETHANIZER whose function was
to separate the lighter component of HC’s particularly Methane and
Ethane from the coming mixture with the help of
DE-BUTANIZER
Here the heavier components of the mixture that are propane and
butane were being separated. Again with the help of
• High Temperature (700 Celsius approx)
• Low Pressure
CHILLING UNIT:-
Here Refrigeration Action takes place on the remaining mixture. Propane
is used as a refrigerant. The mixture, after chilling is sent to the 3rd
stabilization Unit.
After the stabilization of the mixture in the 3rd stabilization unit. The
separated oil is led to the Oil Storage Tanks (wherefrom it is sent to
Boozers)
The LPG components are stored separately in the LPG Storage Tanks.
The total production capacity of the plant was 1.2 Mega-W atts
DEPARTURE:-
• At around 4:00 pm we started our journey back home.
• On the way back, we offered Asar and Maghrib Prayers
• We reached the campus at around 8:00 pm .
REFLECTION:-
The Trip proved to be very eventful and educational since it was our first
exposure to the practical
