After crossing the buzzing industries and railway line as you enter the gate you would immediately notice a large pond of Bhimasar which is spread around 100 acres, as the villagers say it so, and offers a scenically view of a typical village. The large pond has a small mass of land with few trees in the centre, which shelters many birds, safe and undisturbed from surrounding activities. In winter, after a good monsoon, the pond provides habitat for many common birds in large flocks from as big as pelicans to small as river tern. During our visit we noticed very few scattered water birds, largely due to short rainfall despite looming monsoon season. However, a temple near to the pond had a small colony of cattle egrets busy in building nests for their mating season. This allowed us to watch their nest building activity closely and provided good photographing opportunity. Near the temple there were few old gravestones/headstones known as SATI NA PALIYA and VEER NA PALIYA. Such gravestone/headstone are commonly found in villages of Kutch. Anciently gravestones with symbol of the horse-rider were erected in honor of bravery of warrior who died during war or conflict. The hand denotes that his spouse becomes "Sati" after his departure. Rising industrialisation activities in surrounding area is cause of serious concern to the flora and fauna of the area. In early morning, fog like pollution smoke is visible in monsoon also. We hope the governments may take some real steps for controlling pollution to prevent damage in future.
