Newsletter 2013

June

Welcome to the June Newsletter, As you know, our fees will increase from July 1. Centrelink is also changing their rebate which will reduce the actual fee increase for most families. Fees quoted are an estimate and by the end of next week the figure will be accurate as Centrelink will have applied their changes, possible family CCB changes and Child Care Tax Rebate changes. Feel free to give me a call if you want to discuss your fees. For more information on the Child Care Rebate you can visit www.humanservices.gov.au or call 136150 We had our first Drumming session on 19/6/13 and it was very successful. We are planning to keep them going and possibly hold them on a different day each time to give everyone the opportunity to join in. Its not always feasible for parents to make a special trip as their child is not attending on the day. Dont feel pressured if you dont want your child to participate as we are aware that most families already have other out of school

commitments with e.g. swimming, dance etc. The drumming is an extra curriculum activity and not a must. The proposed date for the next session is Thursday July 25th. Im awaiting confirmation from Natalie. Planning is on the way for our Central Coast Kids in Need fundraiser. At the moments two of our families have confirmed stalls with several others who have spoken to me, planning stalls. If you are interested to join us or have any other ideas for the day, please let us know. We love our craft material donations but just a reminder that we are unable to use egg cartons as we have an anaphylaxis child at the Centre who is allergic to egg. Facebook.you can now find and like us on FaceBook ! Marianne. From the Cottage

We have all had a busy and fun filled month in the Cottage. The children are continually growing and developing every day and have had many accomplishments. We have had children begin crawling, learning new words and begin walking. The children have shown interest in cooking and gardening which we will be extending on throughout the month. Many of the children show great interest in books and learning new words as they label items and animals. The children created picture collages with a range of different pictures. The children are also learning some simple action songs. Songs we have sung this month include Twinkle Twinkle, Old McDonald, If youre Happy and you know it and What do you think your name is. By singing songs like these the children learn how to imitate simple actions, label feelings and extend their vocabulary. Thank you to all the parents who provide sheets and hats for their children. See you in the Cottage, Natasha, Cheryl, Casey, Errin, Lesley.

From the Sunshine Room

I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents, children and staff whom have welcomed me full time into the Sunshine Room whilst Lauren is

on maternity leave. Its been wonderful getting to know you all. I am looking forward to working with your children and watching them grow and strive. A big welcome to Emilie as she has joined us from the Cottage. Also we welcome Ella a new friend to the Sunshine Room. What a busy month we have had. The children have been very interested in sea animals. They have been very busy using their creative and fine motor skills to paint different sea animals. Please have a look at your childs amazing work which is hanging up around our room. We have continued the childrens interest on shapes, colours and numbers. We have been doing a range of games and activities to enhance the childrens concepts. Just a reminder that your child still needs to bring a hat to preschool each day. Please remember to label all your childrens belongings. See you soon Nerida and Rachel.

From the Rainbow Room

In the Rainbow Room this month we have been discovering colours. This interest started when we were painting and we discovered that two colours mixed together makes another colour. During group time we discussed primary colours and when mixed together they make secondary

colours such as green, purple and orange. There is an interest table set up for the children to explore colours further through books and sorting. Over the past few weeks some of the Rainbow children have shown an interest in transport. From this topic we have discussed various methods of transport like scooters and skateboards. At group time we have brainstormed what things have wheels and what transport consists of. As the weather is getting a lot cooler, can you please remember to dress your child in appropriate clothing. Also remember to check your childs spare clothes and make sure that you pack enough (in case of accidents) We have also noticed that a number of children have not been bringing hats for outside play. As we still promote sun safety during winter to keep the children into the habit of wearing a hat, please bring in a hat or beanie (during winter months only) every day your child attends, thanks.
