Last season the Sealords were lucky enough to go the whole season without a
single cancellation. Last Saturdays marked the second of this season, which means the season will be stretching out until mid-August. Its tough but a fact of life with Winter sports in Wellington. Sealords vs Stags Karori Park 06.07.13

Back in round three the Sealords should have given the Stags an absolute pasting. Second time around Manager Drysdale would accept nothing less and was threatening the lads with the hairdryer treatment if they didnt produce. The Stags went out of their way to unsettle the Lords. Despite being the home team they turned up late, forcing the Lords to put up the nets, and didnt even have enough players to field a full eleven. Being the nice guy that he is Manager Drysdale didnt force the Stags to lose a further man and offered to ref. The game got underway and the just like in round three the Lords were clearly in the ascendance. The Lords were creating plenty of chances with Aaron Cashie McCash guilty of a couple of horrendous misses. Already doubts were creeping in, would the Sealords once again batter the Stags goal only to come away with the draw. Luckily for the Lords fans that feeling didnt last long. Cashie unleashed a beautiful cross-field ball from the right through the heart of the Stags defence where Mike Mr Electricity Newton timed his run perfectly to put the Lords ahead. This would be followed minutes later by a wonder goal from Cashie. Picking up the ball on the left touchline inside his own half, Cashie set off beating three Stags players and then into the box where he calmly placed the ball past the keeper. As the half wore on Cashie would pick up another couple of goals to complete a first half hat-trick. But it was another special goal from Mike Newton that would finish the half off nicely for the Lords. Charging up the field with the ball, Mike had gotten away from the Stags defenders. Out rushed the Stags keeper and successfully dispossessed Mike. However the ball had only landed a metre behind Mike. Confusion reigned but Mike was the first to spot it. He got a solid connection with ball but there wasnt much pace on it, fortunately there was enough for it to trickle into the goal as the Stags centre back desperately chased it. It was half- time and five-nil to the Lords.

Straight after the half the Lords scored again. Cashie picking up his forth and by this stage this dedicated journalist was losing track of all the goals. Jonny Tim Wild had grown tired of playing left back and move himself up front for the second half (Much to the surprise of the rest of the team). He would add a seventh with his dependable left foot. Cashie would turn provider for the next two goals as he turned in two fantastic corners. The first scored by Luke Makelele Cartmell-Gollan as the Stags provided an example of truly horrific defending at a set-piece as Luca was left completely unmarked and with the centre of the box all to himself. Mike Stringer Stringer would follow with his own header/armer minutes later. Wanting to give the Stags a bit of a break, Manager Drysdale pulled Cashie off for the last twenty minutes but it still wasnt enough as Jonny Wild picked up his second to make it ten- nil for the Lords. Cashie picked up man of the match for a titanic performance. With Mike Newton and Jonny Wild taking out second and third. Result: Sealords 10 0 Stags Goals: Assists A. McCash x4 A. McCash x3 M. Newton x2 J. Wild J. Wild x2 M. Stringer L. Cartmell-Gollan Its a late kick-off for the Lords this week at Wakefield Park. The result of this match against the Island Bay Hotspurs could be crucial in determining the location of the title. 3.30pm kick off.
