Wizard of Oz Audition Packet
Welcome to Sherwood Foundation for the Arts 2012 summer production of "The Wizard of Oz". We want this show to be both a challenge and a pleasant experience for everyone. If you plan to audition for a role in the show, you must fill out the audition form, sign up for an audition time (via our website), and come prepared to perform a 16-bar vocal audition. Other audition activities may include learning and demonstrating dance steps, reading from the script, and singing in ensemble with other applicants. Please be prompt and ready to perform. SFA is proud to be able to provide the many talented performers of Sherwood and its surrounding communities with an opportunity to participate in a unique theatrical experience. To make this effort a success, we need everyone's agreement to some simple rules, as well as their help in preparing for the show. Age Requirements. Minimum age for cast members is 6 years, with one completed year of elementary education. Most lead roles will be cast as adults. Munchkin and some other supporting roles are open to children or anyone under 60" in height. Company rules. Community theater is particularly challenging because our casts tend to be larger than that of a professional show and because the range of experience of cast members tends to vary widely. Because of this, the audition form outlines company rules to which each cast and crew member must adhere. Please make sure that you understand these rules before auditioning. A production of this kind relies on the willingness of cast members, parents and friends to volunteer their special skills. All cast members (and parents of young cast members) will be asked to help in some way. We will assign each cast member or representative family member approximately 8 hours of preparation activities during the course of the show. Auditions. Please follow these steps for your audition: 1. Fill out the attached form and attach a recent face photo to it in the upper right corner. 2. Sign up for an audition time slot here. 3. Bring the completed form with you to auditions. Also bring your sheet music for the accompanist. 4.
