* Grade assigned in fourth Semester.

Project-I is a prerequisite for Project-II and Project-II is a prerequisite for Project-III. A Student failing in Project-I will be expected to register for it in the summer following the second semester and complete it successfully. A Student failing in Project-II in the third

semester would have to register for it in the fourth semester and then complete Project III in the following (fifth) semester. Similarly, a student who fails in Project-III will be offered in the odd as well as the even semesters. Although there is no official summer registration for project, students are expected to continue with their project work during summer. Progress of the project will be reviewed in November. Assessment will be based on an oral presentation, monthly repo rts and guides evaluation. Students may register courses equivalent to 12 credits in the IV Semester instead of Project III, based on the recommendation of the PG Committee and in consultation with the Project Guide.

Remarks The MTech EE1 stream involves specialization in the inter-related areas of signal processing, communications and optics. Over the past 5 years or so, MTech EE1 graduates enter the industry, work for government labs/institutions or proceed for a doctorate in their areas of specialization. Students proceeding to doctorate in the past 4-5 years usually have strong fundamentals from their undergraduate degrees, and are ready for a demanding and challenging masters program from the first semester. To cater to the vast range of topics and interests within the MTech EE1 stream, the faculty in the stream, after detailed consultations with students over the past 5 years, have devised the notion of a core basket. The core basket provides the necessary flexibility within the stream for diverse interests and goals.
