When ue designcd, the }ICDULE 600, ue went back to fund, alnentals. And d,isctlr'd,ed, alt the oLd ideas as,saciated, uith outdoo| Lunxinaires. The new Holophane modular luminaire was designed to play many roles. A highly effective outdoor fixture. A basic lighting module with a *'ide range of application possibilities. Ald an attractive building block u'hich can be used to enhance the architectural theme. It employs a precision optical system to assure maximum uniformity of illumination. And physically, it presents a clean profile completely devoid of unsightly hardware. MODULE 600 can challenge the archilect's imaginalion. This attractive luminaire gives full scope to

architectural ingenuity because of its outstanding optical properties and unusual flexibility. Among its many uses are the follo*'ing three major

applications; For wall mounting: The luminaire can be used conventionally as a Wallpack. Or, because of its modular form, as an

For slreel furniture: The luminaire is ideally suited for use as an element of street furniture, Its form and function combine with such utilitarian services as telephones, water fountains, and signage, to make any environment more pleasant and attraciive. For pole mounting:

It can be used individually or in multiples to provide illumination for parking lots, malls, streets, pathways and other areas.

Byday, the trim silhouette of Module600 enhances vertical surfaces.

The luminaire is attractive any rvay you look at it. Unlike many conventional flxtutes, all mounting hardware and the ballast housing are hidden within the unit's trim silhouette. The unique hous ing design creates the illusion that the fixture is floating from the vertical surface. . . held in place only by a shadow. To further extend design possibilities, the luminaire is available with refractor trim in a choice of anodized aluminum or black. Other colors and
finishes are available on special order.

capability - up to 400 watts high pressure sodium. A contorued reflector spreads the lamp image over the entire surface of the prismatic refractor. This. combined with the action of the prismatic refractor, virtually eliminates disturbing hot spots. Although the luminaire presents a clean, uniform appearance by day, its single-piece prismatic

refractor is actually designed vith three distinct areas. These optimize efficiency of illumination and maximize visual comfort: First, splitting prisms on the inside surface of the refractor plus fluting on the outside, combine to direct more light where it's needed. Second, a rectangular prismatic panel across the
face of the refractor obscures the lamp, splits the

beam, and projects its output nniformly across the area to be illuminated. And third, the sidewalls of the refractor provide a degree of backlighting, and also redirect light energy which substantially adds to forward

pressure sodium offers lighting design flexibility not previously available to the architect. Whatever the consideration - photometric, aesthetic, or economic - MoDULE 600 is available to satisfy the application requirement. By using the 400 watt metal halide luminaire, greater mounting heights may be employed, or luminaires may be spaced farther apart and still provide the desired level of illumination. For example, MODULE 600 offers three solutions to the following problem: A parking area, adjacent to a building,75 feet deep and running the length of the building, is to be illuminated with an average maintained light level of approximately 1.2 fc. Available mounting height is 15 feet.

-+il,*I**,*f-*,{SOLUTION 1: Because aestheiics may diclale close spacing, the problem can be solved by using 250 watl DX mercury unils spacod on 30'cenlers.

*f]*-uo,-I.-ro,---*I*
SoLUTION 2: Luminaires spaced on 60'centers, wilh long'lile 400 walt DX mercury lamps, may be used lo solve the problem more economically.

*[].-no__--__f]SoLUTION 3: Luminaires using 400 watt clear melal halide lamps may be spacod on 90'centers lor dsired lighl level. Thia is th; most economical inslallalion on a lirst-cost basis.
