This doll was knit with US ndl size 2 (2.75 mm) and Dazzleaire by Caron and Lion Brand Woolease. The arms are attached with buttons. We used the larger size of the pattern. The yarn used is thicker than Wintuk or Caron 4-ply used for the other 2 dolls, the doll is bigger, both in circumference and length. She measures app 11"/28 cm. Her clothes was knit to fit her size only, it is too big for the other 2 dolls. Her body, socks, and sleeves was knit with white Woolease. Her eyes are oval blue buttons with loop. Her hair was knit as a cap with the loop st pattern. The yarn was Pop'nYarn, a thick and heavy 4-ply yarn, ndl size used was US size 9/9 mm. Measurements: Sweater, sleeves across: 7 1/2"/19 cm; top of shoulders to bottom: 3"/8 cm. Pants: waist circumference: 9"/23 cm. One leg from crotch to bottom of foot: 4"/10 cm.
Starting with the front, CO 32 sts on smaller ndls. Work 4 rows of rib, on the last row, work an M1 between the 16th and 17th st to 33 sts. Switch to larger ndls and use the 33 sts to work the following pattern distribution: Seed 4, Pat1 twice, seed 9, Pat1 twice, seed 4. Work this segment twice. Next row (RS), armhole, bind off first 2 sts. On next row (10th row) bind off 2 sts) - 29 sts. Continue to work segments until there are 6 segments all together. Next, split work for neck and shoulders as follows: slip 7 sts to one ndl, slip next 15 sts to spare ndl (neck), slip last 7 sts to another spare ndl. Continue with left shoulder (RS) and work the 2 seeds, 1 Pat1, 1 seed. Work 3 segments of this pattern distribution, slipping first st by the neck line. On next row (RS), sco 9 sts at end of row (16 sts). Next row (WS), work 6 sts in seed, work row 2 of Pat1 twice, seed 2. Complete segment (segment 10 after rib). Work 5 more these segments, on last row (WS), sco 2 sts at end of row for armhole (18 sts). Work 2 more segments. Switch to smaller ndls and work rib on next 4 rows. Bind off. Pick up the saved 7 sts for the right shoulder, starting with RS, work 1 seed, 1 Pat1, seed 2. Work 3 segments, on last row (WS), single cast on 9 sts at end of row (16 sts). On next row, (RS) work 6 seeds, row 1 of Pat1 twice, seed 2. Complete segment (segment 10 after rib). Work 5 more of these segments. Next row (RS) continue as established, at end sco 2 sts for armhole (18 sts). Complete segment. Work one more segment. Switch to smaller ndls and and work 4 rows of rib. Bind off. Sleeves (make 2) Use same stitch count as the front, repeating pattern distribution. Don't forget to work the Popcorn bubble on every 6ht row. Work 3 segments. Start a 4th segment. On 2nd row bind off first 2 sts (31 sts). On 3rd row, bind off first 2 sts (29 sts).
Neck
RS facing, using smaller ndls, pick up the sts for the neck starting at the start of back with the sco sts (9 sts), pick up 6 sts along the shoulder, knit the 15 sts saved from the front, pick up 6 sts along the shoulder, pick up last 9 sts from the sco sts (45 sts). Next row (WS), work rib while decreasing work evenly spaced by 5 sts to 40 sts. Work 3 more rows of rib, bind off in rib (WS).
Finishing
Sew up sleeves. Sew up sides of sweater to armholes. Ease sleeve into armholes and stitch to sweater. Tie up all end to WS of work. Sew on 4 small snaps evenly spaced to back pieces.
Cap
Note: work 2 seeds together for the slope (decreases) of the top of the hat as follows: If the next should be worked is a K, P the next 2 sts together; if the next st is P, K the 2 sts together to stay in pattern as established. Pattern Distribution: 4 sts of Pat1, 7 seeds with bubble in center st on every 6th row (11 sts). With smaller ndls, CO 88 sts and work 4 rows of rib. Switch to larger ndls and work 8 pattern distribution. Continue working 4 segments (16 rows). Next row (RS), starting the 5th segment, work as follows: Pat1, work 2 sts together, work 3 seeds, work 2 sts together. Work this 8 times altogether (72 sts). Complete segment. Next row (RS), starting segment 6, work as follows: Pat1, work 2 sts together, seed 1, work 2 sts together. Work this 8 times altogether (56 sts). Complete segment. Next row (RS), starting segment 7, Pat1, P2tog, P1. Work this 8 times altogether (48 sts). Work 2 rows of segment. Next row (RS), Pat1, P2tog, repeat until end (40 sts). Complete segment. Next row, K2tog across row (20 sts). Cut yarn and thread through the sts. Sew up sides of hat. Draw up yarn tail in threaded sts to close opening. Secure tails on WS.
Work a pompom on circular pompom tool (app 3"/7.5 cm in diameter) if you have one available. Else wrap yarn around 4 of your fingers 200 times and tie a string around center. Attach to top of hat. Trim.
Pants
Needles: US size 2 (2.75 mm - or use 3 mm), dp ndls if you knit them in the round, see note. Yarn: Sport weight. Sample used Bernat Sport. Gauge: 6 sts per inch/2.5 cm. Note: The pants are knit in the round for a sit down doll, but need not necessarily be knit in the round FOR a stand up doll. When knitting in the round, split the work evenly to 4 dp ndls. The seam is in the back until work splits to legs. The seam for each leg is on the inside of the leg. CO 48 sts to one ndl. Work 4 rounds of seed. Next row (RS), K and work 8 increases evenly spaced (56 sts). For round knitting AND sit down doll: K5 rounds. Work a flap of 8 rows of SS using the 28 sts surrounding the seam. End last row in the center at the seam. Turning the bottom: K5; turn, sl 1, P9; turn, sl 1, K8, K2tog, K1; turn, sl 1, P9, P2tog, P1; turn, sl 1, K10, K2tog, K1; turn, sl 1, P11, P2tog, P1; turn, sl 1, K12, K2tog, K1; turn, sl 1, P13, P2tog, P1; turn, sl 1, K14, K2tog, K2; pick up 4 sts alongside of flap, K sts on ndls 2 and 3, pick up 4 sts alongside of flap, K2tog, K2, K to center. St count/formation should still be 14 sts per ndl. K 1 more round. Go to leg section. For straight knitting AND a stand up doll, work 11 rounds of SS. Legs Split work in half, 28 sts per leg. Save the 28 sts for the left leg with scrap yarn.
Continuing with the right leg: For straight knitting, work an increase in first st, K to last st, work in increase in last st. Work 19 rows of SS. For round knitting, work an increase in first st, K8 more sts to first dp ndl, K10 to next dp ndl, K8 and work an increase in last st to last dp ndl. Join and K 19 rounds. On next row/round(RS), make eyelets for tie around ankle, K1, (YO, K2tog) 14 times, K1. Work 1 more row/round. Next row/round(RS) - K19, work an increase in next 6 sts, K5 (36 sts). Work 7 more rows/round of SS. Next row/round (RS): (K1, K2tog) 12 times(24 sts). Work next row/round. Next row/round: K2tog throughout (12 sts). Cut yarn and thread through the sts. For the left leg, pick up saved sts repeat instructions for the right leg, but mirror the increases for the foot.
