Normandy Region On June 6, 1944, Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, launching the campaign that eventually liberated mainland Europe from the Nazis. Monuments, museums, bunkers and cemeteries are a living commemoration to the Battle of Normandy. Visit Beny-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, the final resting place for brave Canadian soldiers that fought in this battle.
