Cover photo Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi is being built with the help of PERI climbing formwork. PERI also delivered formwork and scaffolding for the buildings on the left and on the right side of this new high-rise building.
PERI UP Rosett Flex scaffold can be used for various applications such as access stairs, access scaffold, faade scaffold, industrial scaffold and shoring. Its standard grid of 250 mm was developed to ensure maximum flexibility in any direction and has proven to be highly adaptable to any structure or height. PERI UP Rosett Flex main components are vertical standards (UV), horizontal ledgers (UH), braces (UB) and decks (UD). The horizontal ledgers are fixed to the vertical standards through PERI UP Rosett Flex gravity lock. Once a ledger is hinged into the rosett node it is immediately secured and cant come off. The gravity lock uses vibrations on the scaffold to further tighten the connection. All metal decks are perforated and selflocking, ensuring a high slip resistance and always safe connection to horizontal ledgers. All decks are hot dip galvanized. Oil, chemicals or salt water can therefore easily be removed. Metal decks are available in widths of 250 mm and lengths from 500 mm to 3,000 mm. Any decking surface can be closed completely by using available system components. The result is a gap free and safe working area.
The Horizontal Ledger (UH) with gravity lock: secure connection also under vibrations.
The metal decking design combines high permissible loads (up to 10 kN/m) with low weight and a slip resistant surface.
PERI UP Rosett Flex comes with a grid of 250 mm ensuring optimal adaption to the structure. Intermediate decks and handrails can be fixed to the standard PERI UP Rosett Flex node every 500 mm.

TRIO panel formwork the best solution for any project requirement
Nilona Tower, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Nilona Tower is located in Dubai Healthcare City Phase II, and will house 24 storeys, ground floor and 3 basement floors for parking. The tower will feature 352 elegant and luxurious guest rooms, 128 luxury serviced apartments, comprehensive health and fitness facilities. Guests and residents will also have an array of nutritious gourmet dining and be surrounded by spectacular sceneries. The differently dimensioned reinforced concrete columns were formed with TRIO, CB 240, MULTIFLEX and PD 8 shoring support, according to the requirements using the optimal system in each case. By using the CB 240, the floor cycle can easily be achieved, while keeping a safe working environment and being in need of less manpower. For forming, reinforcing and concreting the shear floors, TRIO resources were used. Swivel Head Table form served for the slab edge formwork. The broad PERI product range and optimized logistical operations through only one formwork partner simplified and accelerated the construction progress. This meant, for example, that the TRIO with CB 240 wall formwork system could be used extremely versatile: for forming the core walls as well as constructing the shear walls. In addition, MULTIFLEX and PD 8 slabs tables ensured that formworking was carried out very efficiently.
With PERIs table modules and props the amount of single components could be reduced drastically. The Masdar Institute was established in cooperation with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); it focuses on research, technological development and human capital development in renewable energy and clean technologies. PD 8 Shoring Towers provided optimal support for the typical slabs.
With a customized solution for cantilever, PD 8 shoring, with a legload capacity of up to 70 kN, has been the ideal product choice.
Due to the flexibility of PERIs TRIO panel formwork, it was possible to cover the large variety of different vertical elements in our project. With their MULTIFLEX system, we tackled the challenges of non-typical structures, covering immense construction areas. For our typical slabs we used PERIs table forms, which allowed us to reach a short construction cycle. Throughout the project we were satisfied with PERIs support and their technical experience and solutions.

The high flexural stiffness of VARIOs girders and matching steel walers can often be used to speed up shuttering, by optimizing the formwork panels and minimizing the number of tie points. In many cases the VARIO system yields the most costeffective solution. The components of the VARIO system were used to provide individual, movable beam side shutters which fulfilled the requirement of preassembling and reusing of all beam shutters.
The early striking feature allowed very fast cycles and a minimum of equipment to transport between levels, independently of the crane.
The QP District is one of the largest real estate projects currently in Qatar. The project includes: 3 basement floors, parking and technical, podium retail and technical, 9 towersoffice, shell and core, 1hotel and convention center, a Prayer hall and an energy center. The towers are posi-
tioned as such to form 2spiral shapes, consisting of an inner and outer ring of towers. The 2 nautilus forms spiral in height in opposing directions. Given the strict construction schedule, material was supplied on a sales basis for the towers and rental basis for the basement and double
height floors where large quantities were required for short term duration. The SKYDECK light-weight aluminum panel slab system offered the possibility to pour slabs to varying thickness and geometry in a systematic, efficient and safe way.
Iconic landmark at Abu Dhabi Corniche risen with PERIs climbing solution
Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Ranging from 54 to 75 floors, the tower soar some 300 m above the city, opening to pristine vistas of the Arabian Gulf. The emulsion of PD 8, climbing formwork, UNIPORTAL Table Form, MULTIFLEX and VARIO GT 24 has been a supporting tool to complete the project. The tower is located on the most desirable and exclusive beachside Al Ras Al Akhdar district of Abu Dhabi on an area of over half a million square meters.
Mohsin Khater, Contracts Manager: The PERI formwork system contributed greatly to the success of Etihad Towers. Not only did it provide an excellent structural solution for the complex project, but also provided an economical way for saving manpower. I would highly recommend PERI in the future projects.
Occupying the built-up area of the project approximately 5.1 million square metres, Etihad Tower project is a prestigious mixed-use development composed of five towers, a large multi-level podium and a four level underground parking for more than 3,000 cars. With the use of PERI system on site, inclusive of PD 8 for supporting and concreting PT beams in the podium area, it was easy and safe to erect despite the heavy and high structure. for concreting corewalls from B4 to P5 in Towers 1, 2, 3. This created a cost-effective solution for the client, in comparison to the hydraulic system. Additionally, as safety on site is and has been a main concern in such heights, the unobstructed platform made the work for labor and staff safe and fast. For all typical floors in the towers UNIPORTAL table form has been used: it was customized for each towers shape which made it ideal for the high-rise building.
Dr. Kamal Yas, Project Director: Reliability and efficiency are the two main reasons for choosing PERI as formwork solution for our huge and complicated project. With PERI formwork we are saving time and labour costs. Furthermore, their excellent field service which no other competitor can provide in Iraq.

Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Center (SZDLC), one of the most prestigious projects within the region of Al Ain, is a tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and part of the Al Ain Wildlife Park Resort development of Al Ain Zoo. The Education through the exhibition building is not only an outstanding landmark project, but rather an architectural sculpture, which blends with its surrounding environment and reaches into the future by incorporating sustainability as well as preservation of nature into the building concept. Consequently SZDLC has turned into a pioneer project to acquire LEED Platinum and Estidama 5 Pearls certificate for Green Buildings in the UAE. Among the features of the building are the cross section between a museum and a science centre, containing interactive displays about the UAEs wildlife 8
and culture. Most impressively is the structure of the 200-seat auditorium, an educational library and a cafeteria with an open terrace overlooking the safari park. The roof steps down to an area that can be used for special events. Located in the middle of the vast Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort (AWPR), the building seems to grow out of the ground like a giant mushroom. This effect will be accentuated further once the grey concrete is fully concealed by the sand-coloured cladding, which is made up of 4 cm diamond-shaped marble panels. As this project has been extremely challenging, both technically as well as for products to be used at site, PERI was chosen to deliver the mix of the formwork solutions for the different areas within this project. Among the
various challenges were angles and degrees of intertwining walls, thus a very flexible formwork solution had to be provided. With the VARIO GT 24 formwork system, which is designed for a fresh concrete pressure of 100 kN/m any cross-section or height could be covered. Eng. Mohamad Al-Zouman, Deputy General Manager: Four Points Sheraton Expansion is a very challenging project and due to PERIs help these challenges were simplified. The working space in the project area was very narrow and the distance between our wall and neighboring site was only 40 cm. But with PERIs ACS P with Gallow system, it allowed us to lift the panels from the top without any side support - and this was exactly what we needed considering the narrow space. In my opinion, without PERI ACS P this scope of work would have been impossible.

Central Bank of Oman expansion and renovation project involved the design and construction of a large new facility as well as complete reorganizaiton and renovation of the existing building. This refurbishment
work included modification of the facades to be compatible with the new building. PERI LICO, the light-weight column formwork, for cost-effective forming without a crane, was chosen due to low
individual weights of the elements, which allow assembly and dismantling by hand. This means that the formwork crew is still in a position to effectively use the newly gained crane availability in a productive way.
Khaled Katma, Senior Construction Manager: PERI systems are durable and flexible. The light-weight SKYDECK panels mean minimum engagement of the tower crane and easy usage for the workers. It is very easy when MULTIPROP towers at double height are used. We are very pleased with the level of service and technical support provided to the site.

The King Abdullah Financial District is designed as a state-of-the-art and fully self-contained development for doing business and facilitating investment and enterprise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and, in due course, in the wider Middle East region. This project is located in the heart of the KAFD and required high safety at each level. The two irregular shaped core walls climbed ahead by using a combination
of ACS and RCS, both self-climbing systems with high standards of safety, which was a key factor for the achieved 3 to 4 days cycle. VARIO GT 24 wall formwork was the versatile solution for the cores as well as the retaining wall. The SKYDECK light-weight slab formwork in conjunction with the MULTIPROP MP 480 and MP 250 is used for the typical floors but also for the assembly of towers by the means

2012. This fast-track project comprises a carpark in four basement levels and will provide space for more than 1,500 cars over a total built-up area of 29,000 m. Some of the main objectives from the contractor were to create an extremely safe working environment,
Daniel Keogh, Senior Construction Manager: The project involves multiple work fronts that require multiple solutions. The PERI range of systems, especially for formwork, enabled the construction team to address each differing situation with a system to suit. Where individual work areas incurred varying conditions, the flexibility of the PERI systems allowed for adaption of the formwork to the requirements. Each PERI system offers its own efficiency, whether through plant, resources or rotation of material, which can be imparted into the programming of works.
The SKYDECK slab formwork allows a systematic and fast erection by using its few components.
Three PERI systems (VARIO GT 24, LICO Column Formwork and SKYDECK) work hand-in-hand on several floors.
The large-scale footprint and fast-track program of the project required the delivery of a huge formwork volume in a short time, which was successfully executed by PERI in Saudi Arabia, Germany and several other subsidaries worldwide.
high speed erection with minimum cycle timings as well as optimizing the cost of material by using economical systems. All of the above objectives have been met by PERI. For the large number of columns the LICO column formwork was selected. Due to the easy handling and few components needed, a one day cycle was achieved with 11 sets of shutters. The contractor was able to cast the core walls in a 3 to 4 days cycle by using the VARIO GT 24 wall formwork. One major concern was the huge slab area, which needed to be casted in a very short time. PERI provided the light-weight slab formwork SKYDECK with its dropheads, MULTIPROP MP 480 and MP350. The 24,400m of easy-to-use decking system and the 36,000m propping were utilized in a most efficient way. Furthermore, SB-2 Brace Frames have been used for the single-sided retaining walls with heights up to 4.80m. All in all, PERI is able to provide the perfect formwork solution for any fast-track project requirement.
