MMI, our highly praised operating system, works within four primary domains Information, Communication, Car Setup and Entertainment. The navigation system, for example, falls under Information. You can choose a main function by selecting one of eight hard keys. Using the four soft keys surrounding the central collector, choose from that categorys sub-menu. With a different screen color for each mode, you know at a glance just where you are. To go back to the previous menu, simply push the RETURN key.

While we could have easily incorporated dual-zone climate controls within the MMI system, our research indicated that you wanted to keep climate separate. But we couldnt resist making it special. Pleasing to the touch and to the eye, all controls are within easy reach. And dont require a Ph.D. to get the hang of how they all work.

The standard telescopic arm and attachment belt in the Avant is a typical Audi touch. An elegant solution to keeping cargo safe and secure. It is, after all, a drivers car. From an optional ski sack to rear seats that split and fold to accommodate your cargo, every A6 acknowledges your need for versatility.

Audi introduced FSI Direct Injection at the 2001 24 Hours of Le Mans. We not only won the race, a point was proven: Running longer and stronger between pit stops could pay dividends on the road as well as the racetrack. The ability to direct an incredibly precise mixture of fuel and air directly into each cylinder results in more power with less fuel. Think of it as a bypass away from conventional thinking.

Available on 4.2 models as well as the Avant, adaptive air suspension increases the versatility of the A6 almost exponentially. With four distinct settings, adaptive air suspension offers aerodynamic excellence at highway speeds or the ability to rise above the demands of a rock-strewn rutted road. Not to mention making the car easier to load.

Beyond beeps: A rearview camera puts the Audi parking system advanced a cut above. Part of the Technology package on 3.2 models that also includes a voice control system, Audi adaptive light, Advanced key, power tilt-and-telescoping steering column and garage door opener (HomeLink). On 4.2 models, adaptive light, HomeLink and the power steering column are all standard.
