BBC Media Action is recruiting two Presenters to work on its Burmese youth radio programme LLKS (Lin Lat Kyair Sin/Bright Young Stars). BBC Media Action has recently obtained permission to
open a country office in Yangon. We aim to establish a local production team in Yangon from January 2013. BBC Media Action uses media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. To achieve this, we partner with civil society, local media and governments to: Produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues. Strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure. Job purpose The two postholders will be Presenters on the LLKS radio show produced by BBC Media Action in partnership with BBC Burmese and other Burmese broadcast partners. In addition to performing in the studio and on location, the Presenters will also research and write scripts, and rehearse as directed by the Lead Producer. They will work closely with the LLKS reporters to create a diverse show that represents young people in Myanmar. Presenters will help to manage the audience and bring the show to life, both in the studio and on location. Presenters also deliver the shows social media strategy and fulfil other Producer tasks as assigned by Lead Producer who they report to. The posts will be based in Yangon with regular travel across Myanmar. Main duties Present and produce the weekly LLKS radio show as directed by the Lead Producer Carry out background research and creative brainstorming on programmes Assist in planning: schedules, treatments, running orders and scripting of radio series Coordinate with LLKS Reporters on location Engage with audience through social media and events Record inserts for the programme as necessary Studio produce programmes Assist in editing finished programmes to a high standard Participate in on the job training to ensure high production quality Ensure all programmes adhere to BBC Media Action editorial guidelines Use technology, such as recording equipment and Adobe Audition, for editing and production purposes Essential skills and experience Experience in radio presenting, publishing and/or production Excellent written and spoken Burmese
Skilled at generating ideas and script-writing Experience working in a production team, demonstrating excellent communication and teamwork skills
