Product Description You can use the IBS S5 100 SL-T slave remote interface to connect SIMATIC S5 90U, 95U and 100U PLCs to a higher-level PLC system via INTERBUS. The IBS S5 100 SL-T slave remote interface allows data of up to eight data words to be transmitted between the systems. The data is exchanged via a direct I/O connection.
Features - INTERBUS protocol - Data width can be set via DIP switches - Diagnostic LEDs - DIN-rail mountable

Figure 2: Example of an electrical installation for the IBS S5 100 SL-T slave interface together with the S5 95U PLC and two analog modules. Like a bus module, the IBS S5 100 SL-T slave interface is snapped onto a standard mounting rail. The module has two flat ribbon cables. The rear (upper) cable connects the slave interface to the left (right) bus module or the PLC. The pin strip connects the right bus module, if required.
Avoid mechanical stress and canting of the slave interface during installation!
Carry out all work on electrical connections to the PLC (S5 90U, S5 95U or S5 100U) and to the INTERBUS system only when the operating voltage has been switched off.

Mounting / Removal Mounting Hook the upper guide rail of the slave interface onto the upper part of the standard rail (the flat-ribbon cable is facing upwards). Insert the tip of the screwdriver into the cut-out of the red latch, pull the red latch with the screwdriver to the bottom and swivel the slave interface to the lower part of the standard rail. Then pull away the screwdriver and let the latch engage.

5078B004
Plug the connector of the adjacent, right bus module into the pin strip of the flat-ribbon cable on top of the slave interface.

Connect the incoming remote bus cable (SUB D9 female connector) to the remote bus pin strip of the slave interface (designation "REMOTE IN"). If an outgoing remote bus is used, connect its cable (SUB D pin strip) to the remote bus female connector of the slave interface (designation "REMOTE OUT").
Removal Insert the tip of the screwdriver into the cut-out of the red latch and pull the red latch with the screwdriver to the bottom. Lift the slave interface up and un-hook it from the upper part of the standard rail.

Figure 3: Voltage supply Strip off the conductor ends approx. 7 mm (see Figure 3.1) and fit ferrules at the end. Wire the connector as is shown in Figure 3.2. Insert it into the module as can be seen in Figure 3.3. The slave interface is supplied continuously with power or can be activated with the voltage supply of the PLC. If the power is supplied via the IM 90 of the 90U PLC (max. 300 mA), only one slave interface can be used (with an external supply up to 2 slave interfaces). Diagnostic Indicators Diagnostics are indicated with 4 LEDs on the front panel (see also Figure 3). DIP Switches Setting the DIP Switches For INTERBUS the slave interface is a remote bus device for which the word length can be set. The used I/O words (data width) as well as voltage monitoring, data bytes operation and status display can be set via DIP switches. For setting the DIP switches remove the housing cover (Figure 4): Insert the tip of the screwdriver into the slot (1). Lift up the cover of the housing, pressing the handle of the screwdriver down (2). Remove the cover from the flat-ribbon cable.
