I am always delighted to explore unique design concepts, however pricing for any design elements not found in this brochure will be quoted on a case by case basis. So let your imagination run wild, free your spirit to twirl among the stars and join me on this adventure towards your very own Enlightened Platypus Dream Coat. Love and Light, Lisa Marie

An overview of the Custom Creation Process

Our journey begins with my Dream Coat Builder. This is a questionnaire that I created to assist you in developing a clear vision of your custom Dream Hoodie or Dream Coat. Each question will help you consider one of the many style elements that make Enlightened Platypus Dream Coats so much fun! Throughout the pages of the brochure you will find detailed descriptions and pictures of each design element so that you can make informed decisions. Once the vision of your Dream Coat begins to coalesce and you are ready to proceed, it is time to send me a convo on Etsy to place your order. This is also the time to address any questions you might have. Creating Dream Coats is more than just sewing; I treat each creation as a work of art and will use my artists eye to turn your ideas into a finished piece that flows with positive energy and achieves the effect you are hoping for. After we have finalized your custom design, it will be time for you to take your measurements. Custom Dream Coats are expertly tailored to fit your unique shape, so it is important to take several measurements accurately. I suggest you find a soft tape measure and a friend to help you follow the directions on the Measurements page. Once you have provided your Dream Coat Builder, measurements, and first payment, I will begin gathering the sweaters for your color palette. The color palette stage is a time intensive process that sets the foundation for your new Dream Coat. Locating the perfect set of sweaters for your coat should take roughly 3-6 weeks to complete, depending on color availability and your response time. I will begin by combing through my sweater stash, as well as all the local thrift stores I have developed relationships with, searching for the perfect colors, knits and textures. When your color palette has been assembled, I will experiment with different shades and ratios until I have captured the essense of your Dream Coat concept in a tiny patchwork sample I call a quiltling. I will also use the measurements you provide to select 3 possibilities for your bodice (the part of the coat that will cover your bust and upper arms). Once I have everything selected I will mail the bodice possibilities along with your personalized qulitling that represents all the sweaters I intend to use, for your approval. It is important that you see all the colors and textures that will make up your coat before work begins. This will ensure that your custom coat will be exactly what you are dreaming of. Clients providing their own sweaters will skip this stage, dramatically shortening the creation time for their custom Dream Coat. Once you have made your selections and returned the bodice sweaters to me, I will have everything I need to move forward with creating you Dream Coat. After roughly 8-12 weeks you coat will be finished and ready to ship home to you. The final payment, plus shipping, will be due at this time and soon you too will be twirling in your very own piece of wearable art!

This is where the fun starts! There are so many choices to make when creating a Dream Coat that is uniquely you. To help get you started I have created this questionnaire to walk you through the myriad of options. I recommend that you print this page to take notes as you go through the rest of the brochure. If youre unable to make a decision about a particular style element, just leave it blank for now and Ill be happy to discuss it with you during our consultation. Im always here to help guide you through creating your perfect Dream Coat. What 3 words best describe your vision? What colors would you like your coat to feature? Are there any shades of the colors above that you do not want?
(ie: a green coat that should not include olives)

Here are some ideas to get you started: bright, muted, rainbow, joyous, gothic, elegant, wild, psychedelic, flirty, princess, fairy

Measurements
Height: No cheating! :)

Name: Etsy Screen Name:

We will need your complete set of measurements before work can begin on your custom creation.

Bust: Dont squish yourself! Measure all the way around your bust and back at the fullest part. If you are taking your own measurements, use a mirror to make sure the tape measure is parallel to the ground all the way around. Underbust: Measure under your breasts as high up as you can go. Be sure to keep the tape measure parallel to the ground across your back. Overbust: Measure from your shoulder seam (the seam on a t-shirt that goes from your neck to your shoulder) straight down over the fullest part of your bust to just under your breasts. Center Back Bodice Length: Youll need a friend for this one! Measure from the nape of your neck down your back to your waist line. Arm length: Measure from the top of your shoulder to your wrist. Make sure to keep your arm bent with your hand on your hip. DO NOT add extra inches to this measurement; I will do that for you. Upper arm: With your arm hanging loose at your side, measure wherever it is biggest above your elbow. Waist: Measure around wherever it is the smallest (if you have no waist measure around yourself directly below your bottom ribs). Make sure the tape measure is parallel to the ground all the way around. Hip: Measure wherever you are widest. Make sure the tape measure is parallel to the ground all the way around.

Supply Your Own Sweaters Option

I am so delighted to be able to offer this exciting alternative for my most adventurous Dreamers! So whats the dealio, you say? Im glad you asked... The Supply Your Own (S.Y.O.) sweaters option is a way for you to both save money and make your Dream Coat creation an even more personal experience. With this alternative, you go hunting through your closet (and any other closet you can sneak your way into) and collect the sweaters for your custom coat. Collecting sweaters for your Dream Coat is no minor undertaking...but those fairies who are up to the challenge will find that they end up saving quite a bit of money and now have a coat that reminds them of all the special people in their life. Its a wonderful feeling to be able to count the patches on your Dream Coat and tell a story about each friend and family member who donated a piece of warmth to your project, or to remember the thrill of discovery when you finally found the perfect shade of blue at your local thrift store or garage sale. Here is a quick overview of how many sweaters youll need for each style option and how much money you can save. Perfect Pixie
Perfect Pixies are my shortest, lightest and flirtiest style Dream Coat. These mini Dream Coats are roughly 35-37 from the nape of the neck to the bottom hem. The unlined skirt should fall to mid-thigh and can be tailored shorter for more petite fairies. This is the perfect lightweight coat for warmer spring and fall days or even cool summer evenings.

Perfect Pixies can feature any style of hood or sleeves, but only have one solid hem. Closure options include tie waist or zipper front. Customers supplying their own sweater palette can also send button-up bodice sweaters for a button front and tie waist combination closure. Pixies are slightly longer and fuller than my Perfect Pixie style and take your coat to a higher level of luxury and functionality by adding a satin lining to the skirt and hidden welted pockets at the hips. This Dream Coat is roughly 40 from the nape of the neck to the bottom hem for the regular version and 36 if you order it petite.

Dryad
By far my most popular style, the Dryad offers a huge, satin-lined skirt for your twirling pleasure while still being casual enough for everyday wear. This style has an inherent versitility to it and can be designed in the spirit of elegance or whimsy. Dryads fall at around 50 from nape of neck to hem, or around 46 for the petite version. My signature hidden pockets are included so you can easily carry just about anything you might need on your next adventure.

Dryads have every style of hood, sleeves and hems to choose from. Closure options include tie waist or zipper front. Customers supplying their own sweater palette can also send button-up bodice sweaters for a button front and tie waist combo closure. Empress
The Empress is by far our most sensational and awe-inspiring style. With hem-lines often reaching a wonderfully ridiculous 30+ feet, these magical creations are sure to make you feel like a fairytale princess. The length will depend on your height (recommended for fairies 54 or taller) and can vary from a petite 52 to as long as 60. The massive skirt is lined with billowing satin and includes fleece lined, hidden pockets.

Empress coats have every style of hood, sleeves and hems to choose from. Closure options include tie waist or zipper front. Customers supplying their own sweater palette can also send button-up bodice sweaters for a button front and tie waist combo closure. Hem Options
Dream Coat hems are all those lovely horizontal rows at the bottom of the skirt. The longer the coat you choose, the more hem choices youll have, so be sure your favorite option is availabe in your chosen style.

This hem style is an option for any length of coat and creates the most dramatic ruffling. The coat style you choose will determine the number of rows in your hem.

Rows of Ruffles

These bricked hems are a fun way to add a bit of patchworking to your design. A single row of bricks is available on Nymph, Dryad, and Empress coats.

Bricks

One of the most dramatic hem styles, the piano key hem looks amazing in high contrast color sets. This option is available only on Dryad and Empress coats.

Hem Options
(continued)
These tiny square hems are an extremely intricate hem option you can choose for your Nymph, Dryad, or Empress coat.

Tiny Squares

Regardless of the hem style you choose the number of hems is set by the style of coat you select. Pixies = 1 hem Nymph = 3 hems Dryad = 5 hems Empress = 7 hems

Did you know?

This is the rarest and most time intensive hem due to the very precise patchworking it involves. The checkerboard hem is an additional $75 and is available on Nymph and Dryad coats only.

Checkerboard

Sleeve Options
My most popular sleeve style, fitted sleeves taper down from the bicep to the wrist to create a flattering slender fit. This style can be made with or without thumb-holes.

Fitted Sleeves

This style flares out from the bicep to the cuff to create a very loose fitting sleeve. Flared sleeves can be created with or without thumbholes.

Flared Sleeves

These petal cuffs are hand crocheted just for Enlightened Platypus. They come in a variety of shades, but are limited to a specific set of yarns. Ordering these sleeves may add 4-8 weeks to your coats production time. $45

Petal Cuffs

(continued) Custom Crochet Sleeves

These elaborate belled sleeves are made exclusively for Enlightened Platypus by crochet artist Dottie Scher. Once you have approved the color pallette for your Custom Dream Coat, Dottie will put her own artistic eye to the design, carefully selecting the perfect yarns to compliment your color set. She then hand crafts a unique set of sleeves just for you!

Sleeve Options

Your fabulous sleeves can be created from natural or synthetic fibers Acrylic Sleeves $170 Natural Fiber Sleeves $200

Did you know?

Please be aware that due to creation and shipping time, these sleeves may add 4-6 weeks to your coats total production schedule.

16

By far my most requested closure style, the crossover tie waist is lined and structured so you can cinch it in as tight as you like for that perfect hourglass look. This design allows for maximum adjustability through both the waist and the bust. Dream Coats with a tie waist are guaranteed to fit you now and for years to come.

The Classic EP Tie Waist

Closure Options

The full length zipper closure allows your bodice to close as much or as little as you like. If you choose this option, be aware that zipper closures are a more exact fit and do not have much adjustability.

Full Length Zipper

The button front design allows you to completely close the bodice of your Dream Coat but creates a fixed size for the bust and limits the waist adjustability. This choice is only available to clients who provide an appropriate button-up bodice. Please see the the supplementary article, SYO Shopping Tips, found on my website, for more information on providing your own bodice.

Button and Tie Combo

Hood Type
This classic EP hood style is a continual fan favorite. This hood shape frames your face perfectly when worn up and creates a dramatic collar when pushed back on your shoulders. If you enjoy the classic EP hood shape, and want an easy to wear look, then this is the hood for you.

The Fairy Queen

The EP Signature Hood features the fundamental construction methods which have made the Fairy Queen hood such a fan favorite. Without the liripipe hood tail, this easy to wear hood style is a delight to wear on your greatest adventures.

Can you make a coat in my size?

Frequently Asked Questions

Of course! From size 0 to 26 and up, I can make a Dream Coat to fit your body as well as your spirit.

Can you make me a coat exactly like this one?

Every coat I make is made up of vintage sweaters and is one of a kind. A previous EP coat might inspire your vision, but your custom Dream Coat will be completely unique.

Can you make me a coat all in leopard print and fuchsia stripes?

I will try! However, please remember that I make my coats with vintage sweaters, so I am limited to what I can find in thrift stores. If you are set on rare colors, we may have to use them as accents, rather than for the entire garment.

What is the best way to clean my new Dream Coat?

Because so many different knits go into every Dream Coat, you never know what might continue to shrink in a washing machine. Therefore its best to either freshen your coat on a clothing line in the sun or take it to a professional dry cleaner.

What is the breakdown for your pricing for each coat style? Can I purchase a custom coat on lay-away? Do you ship to...?

Im glad you asked! Please check out the table on the next page for an in depth look at how I price my custom coats. I automatically break my payments down into 3 spaced out installments. Like many artistic services I ask for a 50% deposit before I begin with the rest spread out across the creation timeline. I can ship anywhere in the world!

Who is responsible for VAT fees and Customs Duties?

If you are outside of the United States, your country may charge import taxes or/and sales taxes on your new Dream Coat before it will be released from customs. Every country is different and it is your responsibility to be aware of these costs. I declare the actual value of your coat on the customs forms so that I am able to fully insure your package.

Im no longer into the whole fairy thing and would like to spend my money on a dirtbike instead, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, no. Once I start working on your coat I can not refund any of your deposit and custom coats are not returnable. So please, be sure that twirling in your very own piece of wearable artwork is truly what you desire.

I need my Dream Coat ASAP, can I pay more to expedite the creation process?

I always want to help my clients get their Dream Coats in time for special events, but jumping the line just isnt fair. Allow for up to 12 weeks from the time I begin cutting and sewing your Dream Coat. For standard orders, I am able to begin work on your coat after you have returned your quiltling and bodice choices to me. For SYO orders, I can begin work on your Dream Coat as soon as I have evaluated your sweater collection and approved all the materials provided.

I love your work, but I have something different in mind. Can you make a dragon costume for my upcoming interstellar ball?
While I do love hearing my clients most awesome ideas, I have my hands (and arms) full keepign up with demand for my Dream Coat designs and I am not able to take on additional commissioned work. I recommend looking for a dressmaker or costume shop in your area and ask if they offer pattern making services.

I love your work but I would like som ething slightly different than your brochure. Can you give my coat batwing sleeves and a 10 train?
I am always happy to discuss sublt design changes with my clients to better show off your figure. The results are often breathtaking. However, even slight modifications often take days of tweaking and experimentation to get just right. Because of this, design changes start at $1,000 and will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. 19
