Why are we having BEARCAT SUNDAY at First Baptist Church?

This is a great opportunity for our church to reach out to a group of young men, their coaches and cheerleaders, with the Gospel of Jesus. We all know that we cannot go to the schools and effectively preach the Gospel. But we can bring the school to us. Along with this we have the opportunity to encourage and influence these future leaders of our city and society. This Sunday is Bearcat Sunday and it is the day that we say to the Bearcats, God loves you and so do the folks at First Baptist church! Contrasting Christianity and Islam will continue this Sunday evening. This week the study will focus on the development of Islam through the centuries to today. This study should give us a basic understanding of the differences in the sects of Islam and how they influence the world. I invite you to come and join us in this study. I want to thank you for your many kind words and gifts on Ministers Appreciation Sunday. It is a joy to be a part of the family of God at this place. I am privileged to be your Pastor and honored to be your Friend. Paul FALL FESTIVAL Wednesday, October 24 5:007:00 PM in Church Parking Lot. Hot Dogs, Chili, cake walks, games, inflatable's.

First, I will be taking 8 students to Preview Weekend at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary on October 25th-27th. These are students that either have been called to some sort of ministry or are trying to figure out what God may be calling them to. I am excited about the opportunity to be able to nurture our students calling to ministry from the Lord. I would ask that you pray for them and for Gods will in their life. Also, if anyone would like to help sponsor one of these students, the cost for the entire weekend event is $25.00 per student. We do not have this as a budget line but I feel there can never be money better spent than on our students being led to ministry. If you are interested in helping, please see me. Secondly, We are proud to have the Bearcat football team along with the cheer leaders in our service today. We also have A.T. Neal and his family as our guest speaker for the Sunday School hour. Please make all of our visitors feel welcome.
