and songwriter Kerrianne Cox leading a
lineup that travels from 1967s Summer of Love with the Songs of the
Haight Ashbury Stage Show, to the rootsy poetry and song of Natalie
Paapaa from Blue King Brown. Nathan Kaye adds his high-energy
world fusion to the mix as well as the psychedelic theatre of dance diva
Deya Dova. The Round Mountain Girls are always a huge hit with
their galloping rock take on serious folk music. Get ready to dance! Add
the humorous dramatic decadence of Ivy Lucille, the soulful groove
of the Rogue Gene featuring Belle Hendrik, Luke Vasella with the
Winsome Gospel Choir, Sounds from Earth, Shameless OHooligan,
the Kellie Gang, plus a mix of MCs and comedians. This is a free family

RAIN IN BYRON
Born Josh Flanagan, 24 years old, Rain has made a big impact on
Sydneys scene since he started DJing at age 19. He is known for being
able to play a diverse range of genres, as well
as possessing considerable technical skills on
the wheels of steel.
In 2010, Rain became a founding member
of the infamous Fake Bratpack, a collective
which has taken the Sydney scene by storm.
The Bratpack play major festivals including
Parklife, Future Music Fetsival, Stereosonic and
Creamfelds. Rain on Saturday at La La Land.

Of the back of their critically acclaimed self-titled debut EP, Brisbane
party starters Hey Geronimo are pleased to announce the Special
Best Tour, their frst national headlining tour, which kicked of this

The talented fve-piece, which includes band members Pete
Kilroy,Greg Chiapello,Ross Pearson,Andrew Stone andTony Garrett,
have quickly built a loyal following thanks to their smash singles Why

SISTER SOUL AT THE BEACH
Lisa (sister) Hunt began singing in that great
African-American tradition, the gospel church,
where was laid the foundation of her soulful
singing style. She went on to study voice at
the City College of New York (BFA). Lisas debut
album was A Little Piece Of Magic for Polygram.
She has had songs on numerous compilations
around the globe, both as singer and
songwriter, and combined has sold more than
a million records. Strange for someone youve probably never heard of
until now, but hey, thats showbiz! Sunday at the Beach Hotel.

You guys started the band with three members and now there are
12 of you; could you explain how this happened? After scientists
were no longer allowed to clone sheep for ethical reasons they went
underground and started experiments with raptors. They made many
copies of the three of us, much like in the classic flm Multiplicity, and
we are the fortunate 12 that escaped the lab.
Do you have many disagreements in the way of musical direction
in a band of 12? Its a pretty easy afair generally; although we all like a
lot of diferent stuf we are united by a love of garage pop in its many
diferent guises so it generally all works out.
How does it feel to be considered the most hyped band at the
Brisbane Big Sound Music Conference alongside artists such as
Clare Bowditch and Mia Dyson? Thats quite an honour. I think it
was mainly due to our show there last year, which was crazy. This year
we returned to try to live up to the hype I think it all went pretty rad.

You have just released a new album; how are you feeling with the
fnished product? It all came together really nicely and its complete
with some of the fnest street-fghter-inspired artwork of all time!
People have applauded the band for being very entertaining to
watch live because there are so many of you. Is the new record
just as gratifying without having to listen to it performed live? I
think theyre two separate things really and both are good, but the
recordings allow the songs to be heard in a well-balanced pop way
whereas live is all about taking those same songs and giving them a
diferent life. Visual spectacle, surround sound, 4D-controlled chaos.
You have been described as sounding like The Hives, Hermans
Hermits and The Hollies. Are any of these bands big infuences of
yours? Who is your biggest musical infuence?Were all big fans of
60s pop and also modern artists who do their own variation on the
genre so its a lot of artists like The Kinks, Black Lips, and Gerry and
The Pacemakers that all make it onto that infuence list. Classic good
melodies are important when youre making straight-up garage pop
theres no production to hide behind really so infuence is often taken
from a lot of bands across many genres outside of garage as well.
