Congratulations on purchasing the Pocket Muze digital audio player that delivers a combination of style, features and user friendliness. It is the best combination that you cannot find anywhere else a new experience of powerful, yet intuitive control over your multimedia collection.

1. Please read all the information in this manual or any other literature included in the box before using the device. Please keep this manual for future reference. 2. Operate the device only as intended. Do not use for any other purpose. 3. Do not place heavy objects on the device and keep the device away from humid, dusty and smoky environments. 4. Do not use water, chemicals or detergent to clean the device. Clean the surface with a soft cloth. 5. Do not use excessive force on the buttons. 6. Do not dry the device with heater or microwave. 7. Keep out of extreme heat or cold. The device is only operable between 0 and 40 . 8. To avoid damage, make sure you do not drop, smash or bend the device. 9. Keep the device away from strong magnetic fields. 10. Do not disassemble or modify the device yourself. 11. Use only Haier America authorized parts and accessories. Parts and accessories not approved for use with the device may damage the unit. 12. When you upload or download files using a USB cable, do not disconnect the USB cable during data transfer or turn the device off. 13. BASIC OPERATION
POWER ON
Press and hold key to turn on the device when it is off.

POWER OFF
Press and hold key to turn off the device.

Note: Your device will automatically turn off if it is not used within your preset time period (default is three minutes). Please refer to the Auto Power Off in the Setting section for more details.

KEYS LOCK
Lock Slide the HOLD switch to Down position to LOCK the keys functions. Unlock Slide the HOLD switch to Up position to UNLOCK

SPEAKER
The built-in speaker on the device will work automatically when there is no earphone connected. In Radio mode, you can also turn on the speaker manually (Please refer to the Radio section).

VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
Press or key under playback screen to increase or decrease volume. The volume ranges from 0 to 20. Press and hold or key, to increase or decrease volume to the desired level.

NAVIGATING THROUGH THE MODES


Main menu contains Music mode, Radio mode, Settings and Now Playing. You can always press and hold key to go back to main menu regardless of the operation mode in which you are now. Under main menu, press or key to scroll different modes in sequence as illustrated below: Music mode -> Radio mode -> Setting -> Now Playing.

MUSIC MODE

Once within the Music mode, you may select the music play sequence, repeat option and equalizer effect. This device supports ID3 tag function. When a song is being played, the display will show the available information of that song, e.g. the song name, album and singer, etc.

LISTENING TO MUSIC
1. Press and hold key to go to main menu. 2. Press or key to select the Music mode and press 3. Press key to start playing songs. key.

key to play next song, press key to play previous song. key to pause music; press again to resume music playback.

6. Press key to go back to Music menu. Music will not interrupt until you pause or stop the current playing song under music playback screen.

Note: Press key exit the playback screen during playback, screen will return to playback screen automatically if no operation is conducted in several seconds. You could go to playback screen through the Now Playing mode under main menu. (Please refer to Now Playing section)

SETTING UP MUSIC PLAY SEQUENCE


Songs can grouped by different categories, including Play all, Artists, Albums and Songs. Each level can be browsed on the unit, with the last level being the song level.

Play all: Play all songs in their loaded sequence in your device. Artists: Play songs by selected artist. Albums: Play songs in selected album. Songs: Play all songs in alphabetical order by song name. Playlists: Play songs in the playlist in the order you added them. Now Playing Quickly go to playback screen. (Please refer to Now Playing Mode section.)

SETTING UP MUSIC REPEAT OPTION AND EQUALIZER

1. Press key under music playback screen to go to Music Options menu. 2. Press or key for browsing up or down. Press key to confirm selection or change setting of options. 3. Press key to go back to music playback screen.

EQ (Equalizer) Option
Select any of the following equalizer presets: Normal, Pop, Rock, Jazz and Classical.

Repeat Option
Select repeat play settings: Repeat One: Repeats the current song Repeat All: After the last songs in sequence is played, it repeats the whole sequence 10

Repeat Off: The device will not repeat songs played

Shuffle Option
Select shuffle play settings: Shuffle On: Play songs in random sequence Shuffle Off: Play songs in alphabetical order by song name.

PLAYLIST ON THE GO

Adding songs to Playlist on the go


By short cut: Press and hold key under music playback screen, user can add the selected song to Add Playlist on the go directly. By normal process: 1. Press key under music playback screen to go to Music Options menu. 2. Press or key to select Add Playlist on the go. 3. Press key to confirm add the playing song to Add Playlist on the go.

Clear Playlist on the go


1. Press 2. Press 3. Press key under music playback screen to go to Music Options menu. or key to select Clear Playlist on the go. key to confirm clear all songs of Add Playlist on the go.

RADIO MODE

Note: The earphones must be inserted into the earphones jack of the device to receive FM radio signals. Radio mode is disabled when the earphone is disconnected from the earphone jack.

Auto Scan: Scan the radio stations in all the frequencies and save them in the preset channels automatically. Maximum can save 20 stations. Select Preset: Select a radio station saved in the device. Add Preset: Add new radio station manually. Del Preset: Delete the saved radio station. Speaker: Turn speaker On/ Off manually. In regular playback mode, speaker is off if earphones are plugged in.

SETTING MODE

LANGUAGE
This setting allows you to select the language to be used in all screens.

DISPLAY
This setting allows you to set screen display brightness level. The range is from 0 to 5.

SYSTEM INFO
Version: Firmware version (for upgrade and troubleshooting) Memory: Built-in memory size in the device 13

Free: Memory space left for storing songs. Songs: Total number of songs saved in device.

BACKLIGHT
This setting allows you to set the backlight status from 3 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds or Always on.

Note: When playing a song or radio station, the device screen will go to Now Playing screen automatically if no further operation is conducted in 15 seconds.

CONNECTION TO COMPUTER
MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENT
You can connect the device to a PC via the provided USB2.0 cable for charging and file transfer purposes. Your PC system must meet the following minimum requirements: Only supports Windows XP (SP2 or above), Windows Vista or Windows 7 Pentium III 800MHz processor or higher CD-ROM drive 128 MB RAM 500MB Hard Disk space USB 1.1 port or above (USB 2.0 is recommended) Internet connection (preferable) Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later

CONNECT THE DEVICE TO PC


Connect the smaller end of the included USB cable to the USB 2.0 port on the device and the bigger end to a free USB port on your computer.

There will be an additional drive called Audio Player which represents the device.

BATTERY POWER INDICATION AND LOW BATTERY WARNING


The battery sign at the upper right hand corner of the display, gives you an indication of estimated power left.

Charge your device immediately when the battery sign flashes. It indicates the battery power level is too low for the device to continue operations. The device will turn off automatically after battery is empty.

CHARGING YOUR DEVICE


Your device comes with a re-chargeable battery. Once connected to a PC via the supplied USB cable, your device will begin charging immediately. Note: Charge the device for at least four hours before using it for the first time. If the device is connected to a PC via a USB hub, the USB hub must be 16

self-powered in order to charge the battery properly. File transferring during charging may prolong the charging time.

FILE TRANSFER
Note: Only unplug the device when all download procedures are completed. There are two ways for file transfer: - Drag and drop for general file - DRM files transfer through Windows Media Player

General File Transfer


Drag and Drop After the device is connected to the PC for uploading/downloading, simply drag and drop to copy / move the music / data files between PC and the device. 1. Use the USB cable to connect the device to your PC. 2. In Windows, double click the Audio Player icon found in "My Computer". 3. Drag and drop your MP3 / WMA files to Audio Player drive.

Note: You may also use the device as an USB storage device and save data files from PC on it. Data files that are stored on the device cannot be browsed using the device's interface.

DRM File Transfer


You will need to transfer DRM music files using Windows Media Player 9 or 10. Synchronization using Windows Media Player 9 1. Run Windows Media Player 9 2. Connect your device to the PC 3. Select "Copy to CD or Device" 4. Drag the desired songs in PC to the left pane. 5. Select "Removable Disk". 6. Click "Copy" on the upper right corner of the window.

Synchronization using Windows Media Player 10 1. 2. 3. Run Windows Media Player 10 Connect your device to the computer When the window of "MTP Media Player" window pops up, choose "Synchronize media files to the device using Windows Media Player", click "ok" to confirm. 4. Choose "Manual" and click "Finish" for the new pop up window. 5. Select "Sync". You can sync your files to your device in two ways: i. Drag your files to the sync list in the left pane. Click "Start Sync" to begin synchronization.

ii. Select a playlist from the drop down menu of "Sync List", and then click "Start Sync". Files in the list will be transferred to your device.

Tips: For further details on media files transfer using WMP 10, please go to the "help" option of the Windows Media Player program and search for "Synchronizing content to devices".

FORMAT THE DEVICE


Format your device if it malfunctions. All content in the device will be deleted after formatting. 1. Connect the device with the PC 2. Right click the drive and select Format under FAT 32 3. Click OK. Note: You can also format the device using Window Media Player. (For further details on file formatting using WMP, please go to the "help" option of the Windows Media Player) 19

Haier America is committed to offer the best experience to its customers. As such, new firmware is released regularly to enhance the devices performance and features.

DISCONNECT THE DEVICE FROM PC


1. Double click the hardware icon on the task tray of your computer as shown below:

Click the popup message as shown below and a window will appear.

3. Select your device and click "ok" to confirm the disconnection. 4. When the popup window "Safe To Remove Hardware" appears, click "ok" and disconnect the USB cable from your PC.

If you are using Windows Media Player 10 synchronization, you can just unplug the device after the transfer is completed,

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Symptom The device can not power on The device cannot be charged when connected to PC Keys do not work Diagnostics The battery level is too low. Please charge the device. Reset the device. (Please refer to the Reset Device section ) Disconnect and reconnect the device to the PC. Try different USB port if available. If connect to an USB hub, make sure the hub is self-powered Check if the keys are LOCKED. Move the slide switch to its unlock position. Reset the device. (Please refer to the Reset Device section) Check whether the battery has power. Check if keys are locked. Check whether the volume is too low. Ensure to plug the earphone firmly. Ensure that you have Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Vista or Windows 7 installed on your computer before proceeding. Windows Media Player 10 is recommended. You can download Windows Media Player 10 at www.windowsmedia.com. Check whether the USB cable is attached firmly. Check if your PC meets the minimum requirement. Try to use any other USB port if available. Check if the earphone plug is inserted firmly. Check if the earphone plug is dirty. The songs may be corrupted, please download other songs and try again. Please check the supported formats in the section Technical Specification. Check if it is a copyright protected file, if so, the transfer should be downloaded by Windows Media Player and check if the usage of the copyright protected file is expired. 21

No display on screen despite power being on No sound during playback. WMP or PC does not recognize the device.

There is noise during playback. The music file cannot be played.

File can't be seen in PC. It can not download files

RESET DEVICE
In case your device is not functioning or does not respond to any key pressed use. A small object to press the RESET key on the left hand side of your device. Turn the power on to complete reset.

POCKET MUZE WARRANTY


Haier guarantees that this Haier bran product, when shipped and received in its original packaging, is free from any defects in workmanship and materials during the time periods stated below. If the product is defective, Haier will, at its option, (1) repair the product using new or refurbished replacement parts, (2) replace the product with a new or re-manufactured equivalent product to the purchasing consumer. This warranty does not apply for the following: (1) damage caused by use with nonHaier products and accessories, (2) damage caused by accident, misuse, abuse, flood, fire, earthquake, or other external causes, (3) damage caused by using this product outside of the intended uses as described by Haier in the user manual, (4) damage caused by service, including expansion and upgrade, that was performed by anyone who is not a representative for Haier, (5) to the appearance of the product or the exterior of the product, which has been damaged or defaced, altered or modified in design or construction, (6) to any and all of the additional excluded items set forth below: The warranty commences on the date the item was purchased and the original purchase receipt must be presented to the authorized service center before warranty repairs are rendered. The limited warranty described herein is in addition to whatever implied warranties may be granted to purchasers by law. ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR USE ARE LIMITED TO THE PERIOD(S) FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE SET FORTH BELOW. The warranties described herein shall be the sole and exclusive warranties granted by Haier and shall be the sole and exclusive remedy available to the purchaser. Correction of defects in the manner and for the period of time described herein, shall constitute complete fulfillment of all abilities and responsibility of Haier to the purchaser with respect to the product, and shall constitute full satisfaction of all claims, whether based on contract, negligence, strict duality or otherwise. In no event shall Haier be liable or in any way responsible for any damages or defects in the product which were caused by repairs or attempted repairs performed by anyone other than an authorized service center or dealer; nor shall Haier be liable, or in any way responsible for incidental or consequential economic or property damage. Some states do not allow the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so that above exclusion may not apply to you. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS. Any defects discovered after the Warranty Period ends are not covered by this warranty or any conditions. Where to obtain service: For the location of the nearest Haier authorized service center or to obtain product literature, accessories, supplies or customer assistance, please call 1-877-337-3639 How to obtain service from your warranty: Ship or carry in your product to a Haier authorized service center. You must have the proof of purchase with you. If you ship this product to a service center, make sure that it is carefully packaged. Remove or delete any private or personal files and data before you send the Pocket Muze device to Haier or bring it in for service. Failure to follow the instructions stated above may affect your warranty by causing delays, additional charges, or a voided warranty. BY SHIPPING OR CARRYING IN YOUR RHAPSODY TRAINER TO A HAIER AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER, YOU AGREE THAT HAIER IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA OR CONTENT AS A RESULT OF REPAIR OR REPLACING PARTS ON YOUR POCKET MUZE PRODUCT.

After the Warranty Period is over, Haier may charge you for any work in diagnosing problem on and/or servicing an Pocket Muze product. Haier will use all reasonable efforts to diagnose and attempt to fix, or suggest possible solutions for, an Pocket Muze product defect that is covered by the limited warranty stated above. HAIER DOES OT HAVE ANY WARRANTY REGARDING ITS WARRANTY SERVIC E(S). HAIER DISCLAIMS ALL DUTIES (IF APPLICABLE) OF WORKMANLIKE EFFORT OR LACK OF NEGLIGENCE, EXCEPT FOR THE SENTENCE ABOVE. The Limited Warranty detailed above does not cover your date on the Pocket Muze or any separate ontent or software (whether or not it is packaged and included with the Pocket Muze product). The warranty also does not cover any Pocket Muze accessories or devices that are not manufactured by or for Haier.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS
The software that comes included with this Pocket Muze product is licensed to you only, and is not sold to you. You are licensed to use this software in your Pocket Muze product only. You are not permitted to reverse engineer it, except as is specifically permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation. You are entirely responsible to comply with any copyright laws that apply to you in your use of music, video and other content with this Pocket Muze product. Your Pocket Muze product and all of its internal parts and components are new pursuant to industry standards, unless it is otherwise indicated on the Pocket Muze products original retail packaging as Refurbished. You agree to follow all export laws and regulations that apply to you if you choose to export the Pocket Muze product outside of the United States. The Limited Warranty stated above applies only to the original consumer who purchased the product. The warranty may not be assigned or transferred to anyone else. However, some jurisdictions that extend the protection of implied warranties for subsequent consumers may exist, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

GOVERNING LAW
This Limited Warranty is valid in the United States of America only. The laws of the State of New York, U.S.A., will apply to this Limited Warranty. Digital Rights Management Content owners use Window Media digital rights management technology (WmDRM) for protection of intellectual property, including all copyrights. This device uses the WMDRM software for access to WMDRM protected ontent. If the WMDRM software fails to protect certain content, content owner may ask Microsoft to revoke the softwares ability to use WMDRM to play or copy protected content. This revocation will not affect unprotected content. When you download licenses, you agree that Microsoft may include a revocation list with the licenses. You may be required by content owners to upgrade WMDRM to access their content. If you decline an upgrade, you will not be able to access any content that requires the upgrade.
