Incredible Power of Kingdom Authority

Our men have just begun a study in Band of Brothers on Wednesday evenings about how to get an upper hand on the underworld. We are discovering the transformational truth of the authority and power given to us as believers by Jesus Christ. Our study will be based on the excellent workbook by Dr. Adrian Rogers, The Incredible Power of Kingdom Authority. I will begin the teaching, and then will share it with our staff team from week to week.

You can register to vote (or check to make sure you are currently registered to vote) this weekend right after the worship services in the Commons. In the last general election, 50% of evangelical Christians did not even vote! Let your voice be heard! Public Issues Committee - To find out more about our Public Issues Committee and how you can be part of this ministry bringing awareness of issues to our congregation, please come to our next meeting Sunday, Sept 9 at 4:00 p.m. in Room WC117. For details, call Ken Price at 200-0448. This is a ministry based on Titus 2:3-5 where older women in the church teach the younger women to grow in their role of wife and mother. Skills in cooking, hospitality, home care, child rearing, and marriage are taught in an intimate home setting. The first class is Thursday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. For more information, please call Betsy Evans at 514-1559. Young at Heart is our senior adult ministry, and our next luncheon is Thursday, September 13 at 11:30 a.m. in the Worship Center. This luncheon will feature a special personal testimony that you wont want to miss. Tickets are $7.00 and are on sale at the Media Ministry window before and after worship servcies, or you can stop by the church office during business hours and see Vada.

Public Issues

Dr. Hayes Wicker Senior Pastor

Christians do not have to fight a losing battle, but overcome by victory already won by Christ (1 John 5:4-5). God wants us to live as children of the King. Our greatest enemy is not politicians, drug pushers, the Iranians, the Chinese, or the pornographers. Guys, your greatest enemy is not your wife, your boss, or your neighbor. We must learn to defeat Satan and his tools of the world and the flesh. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). I am excited that Terry Cole voluntarily serves as our Director of Mens Ministries, assisted by Sherrill Woods. These two faithful laymen have been involved in every aspect of our ministry, as they began working with the men during the spring. They bring a wealth of experience and Christian maturity to their leadership roles and a hunger for men to grow in Christ. I thank God for Don Ingle and Lou Falorio, who have successfully led the program for years. The 14-week study will cover a number of related topics, with brief assignments weekly for those who purchase the workbook; though you will still be able to participate without it. As always, men will be seated at a table with a Table Leader. This will help you develop friendships and stimulate discussion of the evening topic. All of us need our brothers in Christ who have our backs and who pray for and encourage us. We will also hear practical testimonies of how Christ has impacted the lives of men. The men meet in the Chapel, and dress is casual. Come right from work if you need to. I look forward to sharing this time of growth with you. In Jesus name, lets not allow anything to stop us!

Outreach Evangelism is kicking-off a new semester beginning on Sunday, September 23 at 6pm in Room DC121 with a dinner featuring our Senior Pastor, Dr. Hayes Wicker. Tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased at the Bookstore or Media Ministry window. Training and outreach will begin on Sunday, September 30 from 5-7:45pm in DC121, and continue through November 4. You will learn the presentation of the gospel as you experience a variety of visitation settings. Child care must be pre-registered. You may obtain your childcare reservation at the Preschool Rotunda in the Education Building before and after all worship services. For more information, please call Linda at 596-8600 x280. Give the gift that keeps on giving...the gift of life. Give blood during our next blood drive on Sunday, September 9 from 9am until 2pm in the FBCN parking lot. To reserve your time, call 436-5455. Announcing the 30th Anniversary of The Living Christmas Trees - Our annual LCT Choir Retreat is Saturday, Sept 8 from 8am to 3pm. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Registration for the retreat is $10 which includes lunch. Please call Tina at 596-8600 x229 for information. There is a drama information table in the Commons before and after all worship services. Parent/ student meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 19 at 8:15pm in DC121. Please register online at www.fbcn.org/msm. New BLGs Starting Sat, Sept 8 at 7:30pm - 30s only led by Thom Pear in DC209; Single ladies (all ages) led by Margo Carrillo in DC215; 40+ led by Tom Jones in DC211. Single Parents - We understand the unique challenge faced by single parents and we want to help. Single parents from all backgrounds are invited to join this special weekly group on Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. in Room DC212 beginning September 15. We will be starting our quilting/sewing class in a few weeks and are looking for scraps or larger pieces of cotton fabrics, pillow forms (any size or shape), stuffing, and batting. If you have any of these, please bring them to Pam Cole at the church ([email protected]). This year, some of the ongoing projects we will be making are pillows, lap or childrens quilts, and little girls dresses, along with teaching beginners the basics of sewing and quilting.

Love Worth Fighting For

M a r r i age E v e n t Sunday, Sept 16 / 4:00-7:30 p.m.
The Bible repeatedly uses father, husband, bride, and child analogies to demonstrate Gods relationship with the church and His followers. There is no better example of the unconditional love God has for us than what we are instructed to have for our spouse and children. Building upon these themes, Love Worth Fighting For is a marriage event, featuring teaching by Kirk Cameron and music by Warren Barfield, designed to strengthen and encourage your marriage.

Come visit First Baptist Academy to see for yourself why we think FBA is best among private schools in Collier County. First Baptist Academy offers a comprehensive program balanced with a biblical worldview, college preparatory academics, competitive athletics, and compelling fine arts. Students benefit from this total education experience that includes opportunities to learn, demonstrate leadership, and prepare them to excel in life beyond graduation. For more information, visit us online at www.fbalions.org or call 597-2233 x566. Teachers and Assistants - Early childhood teachers and assistants are needed for various times and events, 3-10 hours per week, daytime and evening hours. Training provided. No experience necessary, but a love for young children is a must. For more information, please call Rebecca at 495-0152. Our next quarterly business meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 5 at 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel. All church members are encouraged to attend.
