In the last general election, 50% of evangelical Christians did not even vote! Let your voice be heard! Public Issues Committee - To find out more about our Public Issues Committee and how you can be part of this ministry bringing awareness of issues to our congregation, please come to our next meeting Sunday, Sept 9 at 4:00 p.m. in Room WC117. For details, call Ken Price at 200-0448. This is a ministry based on Titus 2:3-5 where older women in the church teach the younger women to grow in their role of wife and mother. Skills in cooking, hospitality, home care, child rearing, and marriage are taught in an intimate home setting. The first class is Thursday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. For more information, please call Betsy Evans at 514-1559. Young at Heart is our senior adult ministry, and our next luncheon is Thursday, September 13 at 11:30 a.m. in the Worship Center. This luncheon will feature a special personal testimony that you wont want to miss. Tickets are $7.00 and are on sale at the Media Ministry window before and after worship servcies, or you can stop by the church office during business hours and see Vada.
Public Issues
Christians do not have to fight a losing battle, but overcome by victory already won by Christ (1 John 5:4-5). God wants us to live as children of the King. Our greatest enemy is not politicians, drug pushers, the Iranians, the Chinese, or the pornographers. Guys, your greatest enemy is not your wife, your boss, or your neighbor. We must learn to defeat Satan and his tools of the world and the flesh. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). I am excited that Terry Cole voluntarily serves as our Director of Mens Ministries, assisted by Sherrill Woods. These two faithful laymen have been involved in every aspect of our ministry, as they began working with the men during the spring. They bring a wealth of experience and Christian maturity to their leadership roles and a hunger for men to grow in Christ. I thank God for Don Ingle and Lou Falorio, who have successfully led the program for years. The 14-week study will cover a number of related topics, with brief assignments weekly for those who purchase the workbook; though you will still be able to participate without it. As always, men will be seated at a table with a Table Leader. This will help you develop friendships and stimulate discussion of the evening topic. All of us need our brothers in Christ who have our backs and who pray for and encourage us. We will also hear practical testimonies of how Christ has impacted the lives of men. The men meet in the Chapel, and dress is casual. Come right from work if you need to. I look forward to sharing this time of growth with you. In Jesus name, lets not allow anything to stop us!

Single parents from all backgrounds are invited to join this special weekly group on Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. in Room DC212 beginning September 15. We will be starting our quilting/sewing class in a few weeks and are looking for scraps or larger pieces of cotton fabrics, pillow forms (any size or shape), stuffing, and batting.
