several Fan Bus trips for the
upcoming season and are
looking for input on which
ones to take.The trips being
considered are to West
Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon
and Salmon Arm, with the
possiblity of Chilliwack,
Langley and Surrey as well.
Please note: no trip will leave
unless it has at least 30 pas-
sengers aboard the bus.

Health and Wellness Fair
The second annual Health and Well-
ness Fair will be held at the Baillie Prop-
erty on Sat., Sept. 15. All healers, health
practicioners, therapists and anyone as-
sociated with health and healing modali-
ties are invited to showcase their

Lilac Conspiracy fundraiser

Princeton Traditional Music Festival
The 5th annual event will take place
Aug. 17 - 19 on two stages in the centre of
Princeton. A public street dance with an
Irish ceili band kicks off the festival Fri-
day evening. Saturday and Sunday,
10am-6pm there are concerts, workshops,
panels and jams. The Festival is free,
though it asks its audiences to help with

Desert Daze Festival
In its 3rd year, the Desert Daze Festi-
val in Spences Bridge supports local tal-
ent and celebrates rural life. Aside from
a jam-packed musical line-up, Desert
Daze showcases delicious okanagan fruit and vegetables from nearby farms. The
festival kicks off with an Aboriginal welcome ceremony with hand-drumming and
singing on Friday, August 17th and runs for 3 full days. FMI visit

free transportation available for patients
being treated at the Cancer Clinic in
Kelowna a free service that is safe and
reliable. In partnership with the Cana-
dian Cancer Society, Freemason's of BC
provide free,daily Monday to Friday
that is transportation to and from
Kelowna for any patients receiving treat-
mant at the Cancer Centre in Kelowna.

Fire risk extreme
Even with the bit of rain, the forest
fire danger rating has gone up after last
weekends temperatures of 37 and 38.
Generally in the Kamloops Forest Dis-
trict, the fire danger rating went from
moderate to high. But Merritt & Kam-
loops, along with other areas (north of
Fort Nelson, Bella Coola, Squamish,
Duncan & north of Port Alberni) are now
considered at extreme risk of wildfires.
As of Sunday, 701 wildfires had been
recorded in the province, nearly twice
the 315 recorded as of Aug. 5 last year.
About half of this years fires have been
caused by people.
